Unbelievable! Tammy Duckworth Swiftboated!
http://johnkerry.com | 7/3/12 | John F'n Kerry (who served in Vietnam, you know)

Posted on 07/03/2012 7:55:25 PM PDT by pabianice

Requires no explanation -- veterans who lost two legs in war are heroes, period -- seriously please just help beat this guy!

From: Jon Soltz Subject: Unbelievable! Tammy Duckworth Swiftboated! Date: Tue, Jul 3, 2012 at 2:15 PM

I was just getting ready for tomorrow's July 4th celebrations when I heard Rep. Joe Walsh's latest smears and had to let you know. Tammy Duckworth needs our support!

He's said many disgraceful things about Tammy, her service and veterans in the past, but this is beyond the pale - on the eve of the 4th of July, Joe Walsh wants vets to shut up about their service.

You can read the transcript of Walsh's comments and watch a video at ThinkProgress.

Please join us in helping Tammy Duckworth fight back by making a contribution to her campaign!

On the eve of our nation's birthday, let's show Tammy that we've got her back.

Sincerely, Jon Soltz Iraq War Veteran Chairman, VoteVets.org

When you go to Thinkprogress.com it locks you into donating to Obama before you are allowed in. Anyone have the video?

“I thank Duckworth for her sacrifice”

“BUT.....if she supports Obama!”

Sounds like lip service.

I really don’t care about her affiliation with Obama...tell Mr. Walsh he’s out of line.

She served. In my book, if you simply serve your country without deployment....you have my highest respect.

Did she serve honorably? If yes, then why does anyone have a problem reprimanding a Republican for these comments......whether or not he is “NEEDED”!

Can anyone tell me the value of this kind of political attack simply to gain office?

Not sure about VoteVets, but Tammy Duckworth, while she served honorably in the armed forces, is a very leftwing politically. She was originally part of the Rod Blagojevich crew of Illinois state agency appointees - that ought to be a big warning flag for anyone who is thinking about voting for her, left or right.

Rep. Joe Walsh Statement on Duckworth Attack Friends, My opponents are once again trying to accuse me of something that is not true. It has become their agenda this Fourth of July week to twist my words and claim I said my opponent is not a hero and have insulted all veterans as a consequence. Folks, if you’re familiar with me and my campaign, you know this is utterly false. Shame on her for saying this and shame on her for using veterans in this fashion. In fact, recently on the Big John and Amy Show I stated, “Tammy Duckworth’s service demands our respect and that is something I will do and say for her throughout this campaign.” I open all my town halls byrecognizing our veterans who served to protect our great nation. Tammy Duckworth knows this and should know better than to use her service and the service of others as a political ploy to distort my words and distract voters. We as a people are facing great problems in our country, and it is time for us to get serious and address them. Just so you are all aware, I released the following statement earlier: “Of course Tammy Duckworth is a hero. I have called her a hero 100′s of times in the past four months. Just like every man and woman who has worn the uniform, her service demands – demands – our utmost respect. That’s why I recognize our veterans at the beginning of every one of my public town halls. However, unlike most veterans I have had the honor to meet since my election to Congress, who rarely if ever talk about their service or the combat they’ve seen, that is darn near all of what Tammy Duckworth talks about. Her service demands our thanks and respect, but not our vote. She is running for Congress – and there are real problems in this country like our massive debt, high unemployment and the Obamacare tax. We are about four months from Election Day and the people of Illinois have no idea where Tammy Duckworth stands on these issues because she dodges debate requests, ignores our invitations to speak at town halls, refuses to talk about solutions, and constantly reminds voters of her war service. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with her for her service and her loss but these are serious times and the people of Illinois deserve to know what she thinks about real issues and what she will do as a Congresswoman.” Let’s hold Tammy Duckworth and the Democrats accountable for trying these “gotcha tactics” when so many Americans are looking for solutions to the problems they face. - Joe Doesn't sound out of line to me.

Tammy Duckworth, from day one of entering politics, has tried to use her service to shield her from any criticism, and her supporters slander anyone who does criticize her as attacking her as a veteran, or questioning her patriotism. So, I see no reason to take her word for it this time, when she has done this over and over again in the past.

He’s really just stating a fact. Not just in this election, but everytime she has unsuccessfully ran for office, her whole campaign strategy was basically a play for sympathy because of her war service and injuries. She’s the one who makes that an issue, not her opponents if they point it out.

If that’s all she wants to talk about, then let the voters see that for themselves.

If she lacks humility, seriously, what are you going to do?

He should never have gone there.

Someone being obnoxious, as socialists are want to be, is not worth mentioning.

If she won’t talk about the issues and possible solutions, then that is her campaign.

One dimensional.....but why even mention it.

I call this stupidity to even have mentioned it. If Republican’s don’t know what the socialists are capable of, then they aren’t smart enough to be elected.

If he can’t smell a trap in this campaign, how is he going to smell a trap once elected.

She served honorably...don’t touch it in any form.

Read Joe’s statement. He’s complaining that she’s using her service to exclude discussion of all other relevant issues to the campaign. Yes, it is unfair, and typical Illinois pol tactics. No, probably not the brightest thing for Joe to say what he was thinking.

But she’s bad for the country. She’s pro-death, pro-Obamacare, pro-gun control, the worst of the worst. And she’s got a big, emotional campaign advantage she’s exploiting to the hilt, one that’ll work well on Illinois’ “dem zombie” voters. If I were Joe, I’m not sure how I would handle it. But I’m from Illinois, and Joe is OK. He’s the one we need if we want to put the hurt on Team Obama.

I’m not defending her on any issue other than....”you just don’t do there”.

She will always be a darlin to the die hard socialists.

All Democrats pretend to be victims. They also tend to lie about their careers in every respect. Nowhere is this lying more disgusting than when they simultaneously brag about their military service, lie about their record and claim to be victims if anyone calls them on it.

JFK, LBJ, John Kerry and several others have lied about their military records. They also tried to use their service to persuade people to vote for them.

Tammy Duckworth wants to be elected to a powerful position in the government. If she is going to cry and play the victim she is not worthy of any public office.

“If she is going to cry and play the victim she is not worthy of any public office.”

This discussion isn’t about her “victim” status, it’s about going anywhere near her service.

If she is using it unashamedly, Mr. Walsh should let it go.

If she’s a socialist, she no good for this country, but don’t touch her service.

It’s not simply just stupid to attack her, it’s dishonorable....however she uses it.

McCain is more socialist than Republican, but I still respect his service.

Don’t go there.

BS! Military service is no shield for poor character. You are falling right in to the libs trap.

Kerry served, but I spit on his veteran status because of his base character in inflating his service to further his political career. Same for Al Gore.

If you serve, and serve with good character, and live your life after your service with good character - I applaud you, I respect you, I honor you.

If you serve, but are of poor character, I respect your service, but I will not hesitate to point out that you are a person of low character - ESPECIALLY if you never shut up about your service. If you keep yamming about your service for your own gain, and then expect everyone to kiss your ass, I will verbally LIGHT YOU UP!

We're talking politics here, not a bar.

If Mr. Walsh is prone to stepping into it, taking the bait, what will happen if he is elected.

There is a time for honesty and a time for refrain.

He doesn't seem to know this.

Character is more powerful than words.

Words are meaningless with character.

People eventually figure that out.

I'll respect her service even if it hurts.

Left untouched, her bloviating would have hurt her.

If she only talks about her service in a debate, even dumb people will notice her not actually answering the debate questions.

He made a stupid move....get over it.

Kerry was proven a liar, dishonorable.

Can you say the same for Duckworth?

Being nauseating isn't justification, especially when we are talking about politics, to disrespect ones service.

Shooting down a person boasting about their service is for a picnic, not politics.

Exposing ones service portrayal, a la Kerry, is patriotic.

Do you really put these two in the same class? However irritating?

Juvenile Liberal Democrat political tactics:

1. Vote for me because I'm [black/hispanic/female/gay/muslim/a veteran].
2. You can't criticize me because I'm [black/hispanic/female/gay/muslim/a veteran].
3. If you criticize me in any way then you hate [blacks/hispanics/females/gays/muslims/veterans].

You're falling for this again with Duckworth - hook, line, and sinker.

Just a quick question for you.
Are you in District 8 in IL?
Have you ever attended a Walsh townhall?
Have you ever heard/seen/listened to Duckworth?

If all your answers are NO, I submit that
you likely know nothing about Mr. Walsh’s integrity
or character and are given Duckworth a wide berth in
the same manner blacks give barry -

She is THAT BAD and I don’t give a crap if she doesn’t
like being called out on her lame campaign. And believe me
it’s lame. To send mailers that focus on photos of
her wheelchair and all she is against regarding the
gop, then I say HELL YES go after her. She has NO
plans, no ideas, just name calls and plays poor me.
So yea, call her a** out on that crap and show us
what you got Tammy. If she EVER had courage she would
do a debate and stop her nonsense.

I know you will react to this the same as above and sorry
to say, you are so wrong on this count. So very very wrong.

I see vets everyday who HATE this country and regret ever
being in the military. Am I to ‘honor’ them as well, even
if they lost limbs?

I wouldn’t want this far left loon anywhere near the
white house - we are in damage control mode, and duckworth
is tossing gas on a raging fire.

Giles: You got it right, in spades. Many of my friends, mainly Vietnam vets, don’t talk about their military service unless it is at a conference or in a political action group (such as the Swift Boat Veterans Against John Kerry, with whom I worked re their book).

These include several MOH awardees, many who were tortured by the VC and No. Vietnamese in So. Vn, Ho Chi Minh Trail, and the Hanoi Hilton.

My son is a veteran of Iraq and he didn’t talk much about it for years. Now he’s proud to be reunited with members of his unit (which won a Presidential Unit Citation for combat operations on the Euphrates River).

My father-in-law fought across the Pacific and was in the only Army combat unit (75th Jasco) that assaulted Iwo Jima with extremely high casualties. He never talks about it. It is the past to him and he feels he was not a hero, only doing his job. Three Purple Hearts say differently.

Duckworth is a hardcore leftist who exploits her injuries instead of her almost non-existent congressional record (other than being on the far-left,marxist/socialist side of the Democratic Party).

IVAW is an extremely far-left organization and featured a number of discredited veterans in its early years.

VoteVet, Inc. is also a leftist organization posing as a non-partisan group. They are so far up the Democrats/Obama’s ass that you couldn’t find them with a searchlight.

Walsh challenged Duckworth on her record. She got her leftists to cover for her lack of a noteworthy one. End of story.

"I really don't care about her affiliation with Obama....."

You don't?

How about her close affiliation with hard-core leftist Illinois senator Dick Durbin.....or her affiliations with all the left-wing, anti-American organizations endorsing her and backing her financially?

I was an elected official for 20 years in her district. I'm familiar with her MO and tactics. She's bad news bears, playing on the wounded veteran gambit since the beginning of her political aspirations.

The top of this thread starkly shows how quick some kneejerk freepers are to attack a true conservative like Walsh on the basis of slanted media reports just to try to show us how much more "appreciative", how much more "noble", how much more "patriotic" they are in "supporting veterans" than we ungrateful ingrates who know Duckworth for who she is......even if the socialist vets they drool over are toxic left-wingers or radicals and bad for the country......like veterans Kerry and others of his ilk were and are.

There is no playing on this end....socialism, right or left, is a cancer to everything this country was founded upon and what the world used to look up to.

Too many FReeper’s are playing into the politics instead of the principles and spirit of our constitution.

There are reasons that there are RINO’s....that would be us.

When an “R” goes before a candidates name, there is too much fawning salivation going on....not enough accountability.
