In less than a week, the city’s $50 million “crown jewel’’ pool in Brooklyn’s McCarren Park has turned into a mini-war zone, where frightening melees have injured two cops and a lifeguard.
The Greenpoint pool reopened last week with a splashy ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Bloomberg speaking of its “illustrious past and bright future.’’ But yesterday, hundreds of frustrated people were forced to stand in lines that stretched around the block as they waited to be searched by members of a force of 30 security officers that included 20 cops.
With temperatures flirting with 90 degrees yesterday, many got hot under the collar and took out their frustrations on the guards.
“I’m gonna come back and smoke your ass,” a teenager ranted at a Parks employee who turned him away from the main gate.

You’re probably right about where the money went.
NY libs don’t want these people at Jones Beach, and that was the price to keep them in their pens. Southerners have nothing on liberal northern whites when it comes to segregating the Civil War contraband.
NJ keeps them off the beaches with basic fees; apparently WIC cards won’t get you on the beach, and then there is the whole transportation issue. Asbury Park was destroyed by its accessibility from urban toilets.
Liberals are always surprised when they hand volumes of Shakepeare’s Complete Works to savages and the savages use the books as weapons.
And I'm looking forward to the wall-to-wall news coverage of it.
And a lot of the swimmers are bused in.
Wow...that's seriously big pool...now I understand why you need 20 lifeguards...
I have no idea why you would need 30 security guards after all I'm sure the "citizenry" that would use this wonderful taxpayer funded entitlement would be grateful and humble that their overlords would find it in their hearts to be so benevolent toward their needs...and not cause any problems at all...

Asbury is coming back, albeit slowly. The gay community came in and before the investors got involved the police had to move the locals back a few blocks.
Same thing as they did in Atlantic City.
Last I heard they were looking for money to demolish the partially-built hotel that was the centerpiece of the “comeback”; it was basically a large concrete skeleton. I suspect the “gay money” came with the condition that the area would be ethnically cleansed, and when nobody had the stones to do that the “gay money” went elsewhere. Atlantic City survives on casino revenues, not wealthy people moving into housing a few blocks from the permanent underclass.
Nobody with $10 in their pocket wants to live within 30 blocks of people who would kill you for $.10, but that is in fact the way it is.

I too believe if obama loses the election there will be riots. And obama will do nothing to tamp down the anger. If he can’t have it, no one will.
