In California, immigration bill designed as the "anti-Arizona"

(Reuters) - While America's debate over immigration has been dominated recently by crackdowns in states like Arizona and Alabama, California legislators are trying to turn that tide with a bill to protect illegal immigrants that they dub the "anti-Arizona."

Last week, the top U.S. court upheld the most controversial aspect of Arizona's immigration statute: a requirement that police officers check the immigration status of people they stop, even for minor offenses such as jay-walking.

Enter California, a border state that is home to the largest number of illegal immigrants, most of whom are Hispanic, and is considerably more liberal than its neighbor Arizona.

A bill currently working its way through the California legislature would block local law enforcement from referring a detainee to immigration officials for deportation unless that person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony.

Why not just make it official and sign the whole state over to Mehico?

Oh, how sweet of the legislators to p*ss away their constituents’ money.

And that’s why Stockton has defaulted on their bonds and the California State budget is deep, deep, deep in the red.

But, hey, those lettuce growers have to get their cheap labor. They must have strong representation downtown.

With any luck, the law will act as a magnet and draw the Illegals from the other 49 states.

Yes, indeed. Rather than follow the law and DEPORT them now, let's wait until the illegal lawbreaker rapes and/or murders before doing anything. Gotcha.

And when you CA refugees move here to Texas and other Red states don't think we're going to let you make the same mistakes here that F'd up CA.

Not saying you're not welcome, you're just not welcome to export Socialism, Radical Environmentalism, and the general stupidity that got you where you are.

Yeah, I know that. But let’s up the ante: any new DMV license to Texas should have a mandatory “are you a liberal?’ question. If you’re a brain-dead libtard, you won’t be provided residence status in TX.

California is a lost cause. The state is facing fiscal collapse, and all the Assembly can find time to do is debate the “Heather has Four Mommies” bill and this pointless immigration enforcement bill.

Um, no. Only if they have good reason to suspect someone may not be here legally.

There are more people in China with the last name of 'Chin' than there are people in the United States.

They'd all like to come here. Let's do it. Roll out the welcome mat. I know this much, when we're a Chinese country we won't have to worry about illegals coming in... they won't put up with that.. we can call ourselves 'Chinica' and ask liberals 'what they're afraid of'... 'cause the 'liberals' aren't gonna have any power either...

Dubya pretty much accomplished that by trying to give illegals amnesty instead of deporting them. Obama’s defacto amnesty for illegals under 30 was just the next step for the bipartisan Treason Lobby.

And when Rubio becomes President, thanks to a bunch of conservatives who should know better, he can take the next step in transforming the US into a multicultural Proposition Nation. After which the whole country will be just like California.

block local law enforcement from referring a detainee to immigration officials for deportation unless that person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony.

There goes an effective tool in making sure illegals are held accountable. More and more these days the warped judiciary grants bail to illegals, regardless of the crime, who are by definition a flight risk. An immigration hold is a great way for local prosecutors to put violent criminals on "ICE" until trial so they don't skip the country.

Since Obama has announced his policy that the INS will not cooperate with Sheriff Joe’s turning over illegals to the Fed to be deported maybe Sheriff Joe should consider dropping them off at the California border.

Was is the key word in your post.

CA has already passed the point of no return.
And because of that, maybe this new law will draw every
illegal in every other state to CA.

If we can’t deport them, lets send them to CA, which is the next best thing.

I predict Baraq will come up with a way to let Ca, Il, and NY issue state bonds with federal guarantees.

Yes I know the Fedgov is broke, but that will buy them a few more years.

Actually, it's a very shrewd way to clamp down on illegal aliens and we just don't see it.

Has justice Roberts spent any time in CA lately?

I thought the Supreme Court made it clear that states and localities could not have different policies on illegal immigrants. Indeed, those sanctuary cities are now illegal in California.

America is the home of the free....but only if you’re in the nation illegally. :)

When a white man breaks the law, the cops take him to jail.

When a brown/black man breaks the law, the cops get taken to jail.

Isn’t Obamaland great? :)

“Why not just make it official and sign the whole state over to Mehico? “

The time isn’t right for that yet.

But is it beyond the realm of possibility to think that such a day could actually arrive?

Think back, say, fifteen+ years. Did you ever hear the expression “Atzlan”? Upon being told what it meant, did you discount it? Laugh it off?

I’m sure that, back then, a lot of folks were laughing about the concept of Atzlan.

But today, folks ain’t laughing any more...

And how are you going to stop from doing that. After liberals manage to ruin their states they look around for greener pastures... without having learned any lessons.

The trouble is, they learn the wrong lessons. Accustomed to thinking in personalities, their lesson is, "we just put the wrong guys in office" - usually cloaked in a generality like "we just went too far." In other words, their grand lesson is: "my boys wouldn't have screwed it up."

So, when they migrate, they look and vote for "my boys" - and history repeates itself. Sad to say, real repentence is scarce.

BTW this "jaywalking stops" include identity theft, fraud, false information on documents, driving without a license, driving without insurance, not to mention breaking the law just getting here.
