Episcopal Church expected to OK liturgy for same-sex couples
LA Times ^ | July 5 2012 | Laura J Nelson

Sixteen years after allowing gays and lesbians to become priests, the Episcopal Church appears poised to introduce a rite that would specifically bless the unions of same-sex couples.

If the liturgy is approved, which is expected, Episcopalians will become the first major denomination to endorse such a ritual for homosexual couples.

On its face, the blessing seems similar to that of a marriage rite -- including “I do,” “we have gathered together today” and an exchange of rings. Notably absent are the words “husband,” “wife” and “marriage.”

What did you really expect from a schism that was founded by a man who would murdered/divorced multiple women for not bearing sons.

The Episcopal Church became a "Full Communion Partner" with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America through the agreement "Called to Common Mission" which was adopted by the ELCA in 2001.

Therefore:

Lutheran (EL C S*A) Ping!

* as of August 19, AD 2009, a liberal protestant SECT, not part of the holy, catholic and apostolic CHURCH.

Be rooted in Christ!

I’m so glad I left that pig pen of a church. What a travesty of God’s word.

Both in the Catholic and Episcopal ceremonies of marriage, the central and essential action is the giving of the ring, or exchange of rings, together with the words, “With this ring, I thee wed, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Amen” (wording from the Book of Common Prayer, but essentially the same as the Catholic rite).

The writer of this article evidently didn’t think to mention whether or not THOSE words are used in this new “marriage” service.

Will wait a day or so.

Baptized and confirmed an Episcopalian, but the Episcopal Church left me, and I have broken ties. Now consider myself a conservative, Bible-believing Anglican.

A Church of God that is in touch with the Bible cannot approve of same sex marriage: Therefore Etc.Etc.

They are not a Church any more than Scientologists are.

The same for me, and I was the senior warden of the oldest Episcopal church in west Tennessee (1832).

“For some people, it's going to be troubling,” Bennison told the Inquirer.
“For others, it's going to be thrilling.”

*************

I wonder...
....if they wonder how God Almighty feels about it...??

Doubt it...

Have you checked into the Anglican Mission in the Americas? It was started by the African Anglican church to be a mission back to the Americas. It is a very fundamental Anglican church filling the void the Episcopal church has left with its move leftward.

“...Bennison told the Inquirer”

I thought Bennison lost his bishop’s title for covering up his brother’s (a priest) escapades a few years ago.

The Ichabod Lutheran Church in America will probably be dutifully following suit any day now.

As I recall, the “bishop” of our synod just before I left the ELCA wanted to “bless” same-sex “unions”, and maybe did so under the table. This was back in 2008. So this is coming to a synod/parish near you if you’re in the ELCA.

The Church cannot bless what God does not bless!!!!
