Five major ObamaCare taxes that will hit your wallet in 2013
Fox News ^ | 7/5/2012 | John Kartch

Posted on 07/06/2012 2:51:16 AM PDT by markomalley

While the individual mandate tax gets most of the attention, the ObamaCare law actually contains 20 new or higher taxes on the American people. These taxes are gradually phased in over the years 2010 (with its 10 percent “tanning tax”) to 2018 (when the tax on comprehensive health insurance plans kicks in.)

Six months from now, in January 2013, five major ObamaCare taxes will come into force:

1. The ObamaCare Medical Device Manufacturing Tax

(snip)

2. The ObamaCare High Medical Bills Tax

(snip)

3. The ObamaCare Flexible Spending Account Cap

(snip)

4. The ObamaCare Surtax on Investment Income

(snip)

5. The ObamaCare Medicare Payroll Tax increase

(snip)

As you can understand, there is a reason why the authors of ObamaCare wrote the law in such a way that the most brutal tax increases take effect conveniently after the 2012 election. It’s the same reason President Obama, congressional Democrats, and the mainstream media conveniently neglect to mention these taxes and prefer that you simply “move on” after the Supreme Court ruling.

Taxes are good for the soul!

Obama will launch a massive campaign of singing actresses touting the benefits of a perfect utopian society that will give you perfect teeth, you will never get fat, your children will never be autistic and all your food will be paid by food stamps or EBT.

Personally, I can’t wait to see how the real estate transaction surcharge bolsters the housing market.

"Personally, I can’t wait to see how the real estate transaction surcharge bolsters the housing market."

That falls under #4 above, investment income. There is a increase in the capital gains tax rate and capital gains will also be subject to Medicare taxes (the entire 3.8% contribution). House sales already subject to capital gains will be subject to the new tax increases.

Settling the Question of a Real Estate Tax in Obamacare

New 3.8% Medicare Tax on "Unearned" Net Investment Income [PDF Download]

It should not be an issue for most, as the capital gain (profit) on the sale of the home has to be greater than $500,000 for a married couple filing jointly. Given the state of the real-estate market, very few will be impacted by this.

However, this could have a huge impact on investments in stocks, mutual funds, and other equities. Also, the Medicare tax is now paid on rental income. Plenty of middle income people earn money on rental income.

The good news is this is a tax, and can be repealed by a simple majority in the House, and 51 votes in the Senate, and as a tax/budget item, repeal cannot be subjected to filibuster in the Senate.

We need at least 50 Republican Senators and a Republican President and Vice President, and we can make all of this go away.

“We need at least 50 Republican Senators and a Republican President and Vice President, and we can make all of this go away.”

With romney’s faltering campaign (look above this thread for an article on big money donors losing confidence in candidate question mark) where are we going to get all of these Conservative republicans? With every passing day... this election slides more towards obama. Look at the polls... look at the trends and listen to the big money donors as they say the same things that I do. This nightmare is going down just like many of us here predicted... and we have been attacked for telling the truth. romney had better get a huge injection of signed Conservative pledges and a set of titanium balls... because IF he wants to win... HE IS GOING TO HAVE TO BEAT obama LIKE A BASS DRUM!

Yeah. You guys have done a pretty good job of killing the Romney campaign from the inside.

Right now it is starting to look like you will help Obama win.

He was never much to begin with, we knew attacks would come from Obama, because back during the primary’s Romney was the one so many Democrats wanted to run against.

There was some belief that maybe we could all vote ABO, and get rid of the Kenyan especially since the Supreme Court kept Obamacare, but you guys have pretty much ruined that.

Looks like we better get used to being a third world country run by the UN.

Romney never wanted to win. Is was never intended for Romney to win. The Republican Party does not want to win. That is the reason that Romney was ordained to be the standard bearer from the getgo. That was the reason that the other Republican candidates such as Herman Cain and others were knocked out particularily if they appeared to be gaining popurality with the people.

The Surtax on investment income takes the top dividend tax rate to a little over 43%!

Who wants to have 43% of their dividend income taxed?

I kind of like the email going around that says if you sell a $100,000 house, you’ll have to pay $3,800 to the IRS under Obamacare (snicker). I think we should let the math-challenged libs explain this until after the election.

The key word here is VOTES, not just the number of Republicans. We need at least 55 in the Senate to overcome the friggin RINOS.

Call me pessimistic but I've seen this template before.

They are elitists, the “ruling class”, and will not allow someone not of their own to be elected to the presidency.

Actually I think that mitt thinks it is ordained that he will win. I think that the gop/e actually thinks that the only way that they can win is to be as progressive as they can get away with... why? Because both mitt and the gop/e ARE progressive.

The gop has done it to us AGAIN for two reasons:

1) They did it to us AGAIN because we go along with their corruption and manipulation of the primaries and we allow them to destroy Conservative candidates with the wealth and power of the party and when they do... we embrace their progressive drone candidate because we have no other place to go... but the party will change or they will be destroyed as a major party.

2) They did it to us AGAIN because they are actually a progressive party and the despise Conservatives almost as much as they do dims... and some in the leadership are dims in all but name.

"The key word here is VOTES, not just the number of Republicans. We need at least 55 in the Senate to overcome the friggin RINOS."

Since no Republicans, including RINOs, voted for Obamacare the first go around, I doubt any will now change their vote. It would be political suicide.

Remember Obamacare passed originally by a 60-40 party-line vote in the Senate (every Senate RINO voted against it), and with bipartisan opposition in the House (Every House Republican and 13 House Democrats voted against Obamacare).

It only passed on the final vote (after Ted Kennedy's death, and Scott Brown's election) because reconciliation was used which prevented a filibuster.

In 2010, the Republicans gained six seats in the Senate:

John Boozman voted against Obamacare in the House and is on the record as opposed to Obamacare.

Ron Johnson is on the record as opposed to Obamacare.

Marco Rubio is on the record as opposed to Obamacare.

John Hoeven is on the record as opposed to Obamacare.

Dan Coats is a RINO but is on the record as opposed to Obamacare.

Mark Kirk is a RINO but voted against Obamacare in the House and is on the record as opposed to Obamacare.

Anybody who is thinking about joint or other medical device implants should evaluate the timing of their procedure and the effect of the new tax on their costs.

Anybody who owns sizable quantities of high dividend paying income stocks should consider if they want to sell before the end of the year.

These taxes will have the usual "unintended" consequences.

Romney wants to win. The reason he won’t is because the election has already been decided by the MSM. They hand picked Romney and at the same time destroyed every Conservative candidate.

Palin was what Conservatives wanted and what America needed. She had everything. The MSM spent 4 years destroying her so this moment would never happen. The fact that they didn’t stop after 2008 should have been a hint.

Unless something dramatic happens between now and the convention, Romney is our candidate. Love him or hate him, that’s the way it is and on November 6 it is your choice. Vote for him or don’t.

If you choose not to vote and Obama wins and they win one or both houses, don’t come back here and whine about it, like many did in 2008.

The main problem wasn't even mentioned.

I don't see the GOP front and center fighting this.

There should be bills generating right at this moment in the house to stop all of these tax increases.

Otherwise it is just like them doing the same as the dems, msm and Obama.

The GOP will be the cause of Obama's win in November. They refused to run a Conservative candidate and in fact did all they could to destroy any Conservatives that could beat Obama. Romney joined in as that is his MO, destroying Conservatives. Backstabbing and badmouthing them (mainly by his operatives so he could look squeaky clean and god like.)

Again, it's the GOP that will help Obama win, not those exposing Romney's liberal agenda here at FR.

Naturally the dems wanted Romney to run, he being the least likely republican to beat BHO. And the GOP let the dems and the MSM pick their candidate. Nothing ever changes. Remember McCain, who endorsed Obama for President a few weeks before the election?

Again, it's the GOP that ruined the chances for the defeat of Obama.

Don't give in to the UN/3rd/World stuff (yes it is happening, but because of immigration mostly), keep fighting even when Obama wins against Romney.

Thanks to the GOP and their liberal agenda.

The have created a cadre of non-voters because of their leftist policies and wishy washy efforts to defeat ObamaTaxCare and all the other socialist policies of the left.

The lesser of two evils worked for the GOP in 2008, many Conservative voters aren't going to fall in line this time around.

Tax those that work in order to support those who don’t work or don’t work very hard. Including non-citizens!
All for the purposes of getting votes so you can stay in power and live like a King.
Go on vacations and play Golf.
They are everything nasty thing they accuse everyone else of being. Including a bunch of money loving phonies!
I don’t see any of them living in self imposed poverty.
Quite the opposite..they are living very well.
All we can do is HOPE we can vote them out of office???
Even then they will NEVER go away!

Just venting..thanx

I’m starting to think Romney is a globalist hack and is sabotaging his own campaign so 0bama will win. People doubt such theories as ‘paranoid delusion’ but given the sinister nature of passage of 0bamacare, John Roberts’ ruling.. Why would anything surprise us now? Mention ‘Agenda 21’ to most people and they go ‘huh?, you’re crazy..’ yet its being implemented as we speak. Notice 0bama’s gun control treaty with the U.N. and other ‘rural council’ and ‘L.O.S.T.’ treaty crap?

Unfortunately, Romney and McCain and all the other RINO candidates only know how to run against and demonize conservatives.

Romney ran 5 attack ads against Gingrich daily in Florida before the primary.

Now a PAC seems to be the only one running anti-Obama ads.

The only plus that Romney has over McCain is that he won't suspend his campaign to run back to Washington to vote on a POS TARP bill.

And that is only because he is not a member of Congress.

Obama's record is a gift on a golden platter for a conservative candidate and it is being squandered.

Romney and the GOP fight hard to defeat Conservatism, but are very lax in fighting against Obama and other leftist candidates and ideals.

Makes you wonder if Romney is eventually going to endorse Obama like McCain did in ‘08.

O.K. Sorry, I thought that you ment me. And on second thought, I have opined and stated what I considered facts. And that could have been considered whining. But that was not the intention.

As far as obama goes, I don't like him, his policies, nor obamacare. his disciples and those who voted for him,I purely dispise. I have no Liberal friends. If they are Liberals, we are not friends. I consider Liberals, Socialists, and Communists my enemies and I never ask for favors or mercy from my enemies.

Should the people [voters] decide that they want obama again, so be it. I can swim as long as they can make it rain.

Then get out there, canvas your neighborhood going door to door and make sure folks are registered to vote, offer them trnasportation if needed to get to the polls, volunteer at the polls and protect the vote. Give these people printed flyers with this explanation, AND an explanation of what obomacare is and how it will destroy this country if it is not stopped...give them a concise breakdown of some of the new “taxes” to be imposed and how it will affect us all...and curtail our liberty, freedom, trash the Constitution, and make us serve oboma the dictator on bended knee in the process. Tell them if dictator oboma can shove this bill down our throats and call it a tax, he can “tax” us on anything AND everything. Explain the Death Panels...tell them to ask Canada and England how THEY like their socialist heathcare system...just ask them.

We can't wait for the Republican Party to get the word out to the uninformed masses...it will be up to us, We the People, to join forces with the Tea Party, 912 Patriots, Americans for Prosperity, Freedom Works and tell them we need a plan and we need it now. Each group has the manpower, and with a combined effort on everyone’s part, we CAN reach each person going door to door and educate the masses. We must show up at the polls in mega numbers and kick oboma’s azz out of OUR White House. This is no arm chair war..we will have to get out of our familiar daily routine and join forces with others, like Americans did in the USA during World War II, and get the word out to the masses.

Well folks, what do you say? Do you have the fire in your belly to win this war on our very lives and be willing to join this army of patriots who want to return to the Constitution, our freedom and liberty? Then go on line and look up the nearest Tea Party group, 912 Patriots Group, Americans for Prosperity group and Freedom Works group, and tell them we need to reach the masses, and we have to do it NOW..November is four months away, and we have to get our boots on the ground. Be in it to win it! Let's get this done.

Conservatives were shown to be impotent again when it comes to uniting around one candidate. That is why Mitt beat them all.

He didn’t even have to divide the conservatives to conquer since they were more concerned about criticizing all the “imperfect” candidates from the Right.

BS.

They set Mitt up as the candidate when McCain’s people decided not to compete against Obama. I’m sure you remember when they decided it was more important to tear Palin down than to tell the truth about Obama.

Romney started by sending his minions out to attack Palin while she was the VP candidate. This election cycle, every single conservative candidate was targeted. Or they had a self destruct mechanism or some experienced advisor they trusted in their campaign sabotaged them. The GOP-e holds all the experienced positions and likes to pretend that if a candidate isn’t listening to them, or doesn’t have them on staff, the candidate is not “serious.” Some candidates thought they could be the GOP-e acceptable Tea Party candidate. They forgot listening to snakes never turns out well and neither does trying to serve two masters.

Things have not changed. Romney and the GOP-e don’t run against fellow socialists like Obama. They only use their time, money, effort and every lie they can pull out of their nether parts to attack conservatives and Mitt did that plenty this election cycle.

Most of us would have stood behind Palin one hundred percent. If the party including the GOP-e really wanted to win, that is what they would have done. If Mitt had told his dogs in the media to keep their mouths shut, most of the trash written about Palin would never have happened. With Palin, there would not have been a clearer contrast with Obama. But Mitt could not have a real conservative standing in his way. Since Mitt didn’t think it necessary to support the conservative VP candidate, I don’t feel it necessary to support that socialist creep Romney now.

They fail to understand, they are blinded by pipe dreams, they don’t seem to notice that the deck chairs on the USS America are swirling in water, as the ship begins to sink in the abyss. These people are delusional AND blind to the reality of what we are facing. It will be up to us, We The People and patriots all, to turn out in mega numbers at the polls and place our vote for the option that is Romney. May those who refuse to help save this country come to their senses in time.

I understand that they all say they will, in fact, they probably say in tn their sleep, but, there is no way that Bonier will take the 24/7 blasting from the media and Democrat Party if there was any serious move made to repeal obamacare. If he shits in his pants with the mere mention of “shutting down the Government” what would be his reaction to a serious effort to repeal obamacare? All this posturing that is going on now is for the benefit of the sheep. They know full well that it is not going anywhere in the Senate. And besides, at one time, the Republicans controlled both Houses of Congress and the White House. Thanks to RINOs such as the pride of Arizona and South Carolina's favorite son, What did they accomplish that the Democrats adamantly opposed? Such as approving Conservative and Constitutionalists judges.

It is always “they” that does the things not popular around here with some. Mostly this “they” is just a paranoid fantasy to explain the Right’s complete inability to break out of the 25-30% range of support which it typically attracts.

Palin could have been the nominee but the personal price to her family would have been too high for her to accept. Then after Perry shot himself in the foot repeatedly there was NO conservative capable of beating Romney. Outside of a small group he has never been terribly popular but has been a competent politician capable of winning elections and build support for other Republicans. For some really weird reason (which you may figure out someday) a politician capable of winning almost always beats those who are NOT. No “they” need apply.

Apparently you also labor under some unrealistic view that a candidate in the primary campaigns against his opponent in the General election. Have you forgotten that even Reagan had to win primaries and he had to go after his opponents IN THE PRIMARY first? Nor was there any need for Romney to lie about his opponents, all had sufficient weaknesses, misstatements, baggage and blunders to lose without much help from Mitt.

And, speaking of BS, any claim that MR spent the McCain campaign (or any other time) attacking Sarah is sheer and total BS.

Your fantasy extends to the heights with the idea that Palin would have been able to campaign without senseless attacks on her from the Right. We saw it here before she definitively ruled out running just as we saw it with all the others.

All except the most unrealistic candidate, Cain, were called “liberals”, “socialists” etc., the same kind of crap you are spreading about MR.

And claiming that Romney has control of the media is hilariously hysterical. Are you from DU? That statement would find near-unanimous agreement over there.
