Regular blog readers may have noticed a dearth of posts this week; I've been on vacation and decided after Tuesday morning I didn't have the energy to post anything while I was out of the office.
But I've broken my slight break for important news: I'll be on CNN's Reliable Sources Sunday to talk on CNN anchor Anderson Cooper's coming out with two other journalists, former Philadelphia Inquirer TV writer Gail Shister and Michangelo Signorile of Huffington Post's Gay Voices page.
A lot of folks have been saying Cooper's coming out is no big deal, and I expect we'll talk on whether this was an event worthy of news coverage. Certainly, timing the declaration in the slow news week of July 4 may have helped expand coverage -- when the big news story on the Today show is about a Florida lifeguard who got fired after saving somebody's life, you know its a slow time.

So does this mean that he is now going to do all the news from the view of how it affects the homosexual community? I don’t watch his show because it isn’t worth watching. I guess this will let him say his poor tv ratings are due to homo-phobia.

Why the fixation with a tiny (3% - 4%) of the population? Why do they get, or why do we GIVE them the time of day? Ignore them. Don't give them the platform or stage for their repugnant lifestyle CHOICE! YES, it's a choice to put your penis into another man's anus or mouth (or allow the reverse). That is a CHOICE! It is an ABOMINATION says the Lord. Ignore there perverts, give them no acknowledgment. Let them choose the wide gate and broad way, but don't HELP them promote their deviant lifestyle by giving them one second of your time.

Homosexuality is repugnant, even though we supposedly have to be tolerant. That being said, if Anderson feels that he has to talk about it, I’d like to hear him speak about whether he’s the giver or the taker, and how much he enjoys oral sex with another man. Otherwise STFU and keep your private life private.

What makes you think he hasn’t been doing the ‘news’ from that point of view?
No media company would knowingly let a ‘reporter’ tout a stock or investment in which he has a vested interest without full disclosure.
The same should be true on any bias, whether it is gay, born-again Christian, Democrat, Socialist, or Republican. Have them announce their bias beforehand and they they can editorialze or subtlely try to slant the news if they dare. The public can be aware of the propaganda values if they are identified of bias in advance.
