Hollande visits submarine to show support for France nuclear arms

France’s President Francois Hollande has reaffirmed his commitment to nuclear arms.

Boldly going where no French head of state has gone for almost 40 years, Hollande took a three hour trip off the coast of Brittany on the submarine ‘Terrible’.

What is it about Socialist presidents in France? When Reagan was president, Mitterand was AWESOME as an ally against the Soviets - and now this guy takes a 3 HOUR cruise in one of these vessels. I don’t know of any capitalist leader that’s done anything close, while they were in power.

And no doubt he will be sailing on the other three nuke subs, the ‘Horrific’, the ‘Abominable’ and the ‘le' Disaster’.

Beam = 12.5 meters

Draught = 10.6 meters

Propulsion = K15 pressurised water reactor (150 MW)

Speed = Over 25 knots

Test depth = Over 400 meters

Armament = 16 SLBM tubes and 4 torpedo tubes
