OSCEOLA -- It's a new scam, said the Better Business Bureau. President Barack Obama is not offering to pay your utility bills.
In the scam, which recently hit Michiana, consumers are being contacted in person and through fliers, social media and text messages with claims that Obama is providing credits or applying payments to utility bills.
People are then asked to provide their Social Security and bank routing numbers in order to receive the money. In exchange, they are given a phony bank routing number that they are told will pay their utility bills

I guess if believe in what Obama says will believe anything.....
Well, it IS the Obama Way...create a problem, then take credit for saying you’ll fix it while only making things worse.
No wonder he’s been begging for money, the stash must be running low...
How is this more of a scam than what Obama is actually doing?
Tons of idiots will.
One gal I know was on a bus with a Bammy supporter who was told that his minimum wage would be raised to $25 an hour.
He told her this four years ago.
She tried to dissuade him, telling him it was nonsense.
He would have none of it.
Besides, help Obama and you don’t have to worry about paying your mortgage or putting gas in your case.

Now YouTube has a “dismiss” so folks can skip stuff - hmmmm, how convenient.
How many Libs are there?
It serves the bottom feeders right!
Wouldn’t surprise me to find that Obama were running the scam.
The scammers are using an excellent approach.
Given all the goodies that Baraq hands out, I’m sure this is very believable for a lot of folks. High probability of success.
The only question is how much in liquid assets do they have to plunder?
You’re not incorrect ...
How can the BBB be 100% positive this is a scam and NOT a campaign vote-buying give-away? Maybe the Election Commissioner should be investigating, not the BBB.
A whole lot of parasites will. They jump at the word “free”. Remember how they flocked for that Obama stash? Useless wastes of skin.
Sad that they are targeting working Hispanic people. Unfortunately there are a lot of grifters in, and, preying on the Hispanic community...which is what Osceola County mostly is now

BBB does not investigate criminal activity, they report it to the PoPo.
They already get free food, free housing, free schooling, free breakfast /lunch/dinner in school, free healthcare(S-chip), free cell phones, social security at 18, free day care, free aftercare, free summer pool use...why wouldn’t they believe this?
Hey Øbama’s stash is running low, he’s got to replenish it somehow.
Some people fall for anything. That is why Obama is in the White House. Funny, though, anyone who believes probably is already part of the “entitlement crowd” and probably has little $ in a bank account, if they even have one at all.
Only obamabotts would fall for this.
Gosh I wish that Mitts team was smart and fast enough to take advantage of this..but, alas, they wont. Could be spun so many ways.......
“a basic average guideline for the food stamp program will show that an average family of 4 can expect an amount up to $500 per month for food stamps.”
“an average expectation can be placed on a family of 4 receiving up to $900 for their TANF allowance.”
$1400 a month and that is before the free housing, free cell phones, energy assistance, rent vouchers, S-Chip, social security disability payments, etc...
Axelrod is good.
There is a Federal program to pay for poor peoples’ utility bills. Used to be they only did it in the winter to keep the heat on but now we consider hot life threatening so we pitch in all year long.
In our area they (some govt agency) are helping pay their utility bills. There is an ad running right now with a woman in the grocery store telling another woman how her husband lost his job and she just can’t pay her utilities and buy groceries. The other woman says......oh you need to call so and so and they will help you pay your bills then a phone number comes on the screen.
Hell, there were twits being interviewed before the first election and they were saying that with Obama as prez, they wouldn't have to pay their mortgage or for gas in their car, etc., because the "great won" would take care of all that for them. He knows what kind of idiots it is that will vote for him so he's just refreshing their memories with the grat dream in the sky so they will think that maybe it will take a second term to bring fruition to the "utopia".
All of them. They think they're getting more free stuff. They're not even going to stop and think about it.
Could you say: "Isn't it shameful how Obama went back on his word to pay your utility bills?"
The bulk of the fools who will fall for this are going to bore for the Kenyan so it limits their ability to send campaign contributions. Win-win
LOL. Scamming the stupid to get his campaign money, because no one else is volunteering.
I am sure this idiot will be the first to bite on this scam: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1FCmfo2Ft4
Thousands of FPL...here in Florida fell for the scam...FPL is giving them extra time to pay there bills..
But, but didn’t he promise 4 years ago to pay our utility bills and rent?!? I’m still waiting on the sparkly purple unicorn he promised me.
It wouldn't surprise me that Hussein was spreading this rumor to buy votes. After all, in '08, the word was "0bama gone make muh house payment and put gas in muh cah".
Emperor 0bama has probably decreed that these payments would come from the taxpayers anyway.
I really have a hard time feeling sorry for people who fall for scams like this.
Yep you could tell them they were handing out FREE sh$t sandwiches and the lines would form!
...the boy replied, "with all this manure, there's got to be a unicorn in there somewhere!"
-- with apologies to President Reagan
I think that would only buy votes that he'd get anyway. And further energize the opposition.
That little tiny click you hear, like a watch enveloped in cotton, is the sound of my heart breaking for the fools who thought this was true and bit the hook.
This one might be good as the suckers that fall for it will have the power turned off well before the election. Nothing helps clear the senses like meditating in the dark.
Haha good one (but quite true!)
A little over a month ago, an old friend who happens to be black called me up to ask my honest opinion about something involving his sister, a very successful real estate agent who owns several homes outright and is in excellent shape financially.
It seems that she had been convinced to exchange a large amount of money from dollars to Iraqi dinar, because the value was purportedly going to skyrocket, to the tune of 1,000%. He tried to convince her otherwise but she'd have none of that. He called me because he knew that I had been having some success with foreign currency-denominated CD programs, and he wanted to know what I thought.
I told him that it would take an unusual confluence of events and miraculous timing to even come close to doubling your money, let alone 1,000%, that such an astronomical rate of return is not possible short of a full on collapse of the dollar, and would not be all that likely even then. i told him it sounded like a scam, but I couldn't honestly decipher who profited from it, and asked him to delve further.
It turns out that this had been going around her church, with many in the congregation getting involved, we're talking life savings levels here, and not just that but the church itself. And, it gets worse, many, many churches were into it too.
I asked him to see about some means of getting their currency exchanged with as little loss as possible. There was no third party taking a cut, these folks were just independently exchanging dollars for dinar, very secure and confident in the belief that they had been provided inside information that was going to make them very wealthy.
Financial scams often target churches, racial considerations aside. Large amounts of money, trusting individuals who rarely have any amount of financial sophistication to sniff out the BS in time to avoid getting taken.
A scam is a scam and they've always been around, but this was an odd one and I still don't get who benefited. I told my friend that if the thing got spread around and enough people fell for it, that they might have some stray chance of profiting, but that that was doubtful at best.
Weird.
Yet.
I thought the “In lieu of a wedding gift donate to the Obama campaign” was a scam.......it wasn’t.
This. Having worked in sales, I can tell you that its really not possible to overestimate the stupidity of a considerable amount of people out there. I almost wished I hadn’t had the experiences I’ve had as its soured me a lot on people considerably, the average person is a lot more ignorant than I ever imagined and scams like these catch on frequently because of two primary factors.
A. Many people are willing to buy into-feel-good scams because it “feels” right, as a society we’ve turned away logic and become far too “feelings” dependent, kind how we ended up with a president who hadn’t run so much as a lemonade shack prior to entering the highest executive office in the land.
B. Many people are lazy, they prefer to let someone else do the thinking for them rather than research something themselves, they’re happy living in a particular bubble and seldom want to step outside their comfort zone.
Scams like this will continue to go on and on and on as long as there are suckers to be had out there and from what I’ve seen, the supply has yet to meet the demand out there.
What exactly is the free Obama phone? The free Obama phone is a program that is meant to help the financially unstable who cannot afford access to a cell phone. Communication should not be limited to people in relation to what they are able to afford. The Lifeline program was actually created decades ago to help low income families have access to land lines. Over the years the cost of cell phones and cellular service has decreased and the program has been extended to cover cell phones.
I sat on two juries. The first one scared the living daylights out of me. They did not decide based on facts, reason, logic, putting the puzzle pieces together.
Their first vote was based on who they liked the most and who they didn’t like.
It was a real eye-opener.
The second jury I was an alternate. The judge asked for the other alternate and me to join him in chambers. He wanted our opinions before we were excused. I told him of the photographic evidence which matched neither the prosecutor nor the defense stories. He hadn’t noticed that (it was rather long and drawn out).
Those who think juries “think” are in for a rude awakening.
Logic and fact-gathering were my job; it was critical to my work. Still is. :)
