Gay Dads Sue; Health Club Reverses Stand on Memberships
ABC News ^ | July 7 2012 | Susan Donaldson James

After a lawsuit was filed against the Roanoke Athletic Club by a same-sex couple for offering them a "family membership" then revoking it, the club today changed its policy.

Will Trinkle, 54, and his partner Juan Granados, 40, filed a lawsuit against the club on June 27 for breach of contract and were seeking to have their family membership reinstated.

The Virginia couple, who have been together for eight years and have a 2-year-old son Oliver, said the club had discriminated against them because they are gay.

But today, the RAC posted a new policy on its Facebook page:

"A household consists of a primary member and up to one additional household member that permanently lives in the household, and any of their dependent children under the age of 22 who also reside in the household on a permanent basis ...Club dues will not change; dues for the Household Membership will be the same as the Family Membership it is replacing."

"It is really defined on Facebook," an RAC club spokesman told ABCNews.com when asked if they now offer discounted memberships to gay families. "That is definitely what it says -- for public knowledge."

If I were a member, I would have no problem with it.

I would just quit.

Which butt did Oliver come out of?

They should call him what he is to that couple: a recruit.

There should be a No Trinkle in the pool rule.

The child is also a show-piece: A status symbol to enable the parents to be seen like the gays on “Modern Family”, a way to show off and promote the LGBTQ agenda.

“Gay dads” my ass. They are just a couple of old, militant homosexuals.

The pending Legislation in California wI'll make them reword this soon.

Call me dull but how would it change.

They’re private and can at least in principle define whatever subscription units they want. This is broader than Cali’s “gay marriages” so why should they be forced to be narrower?

Two guys could just lie about being gay and get a discount?

What if a Mormon has six female friends? They scam a discount?

I am referring to the "Multiple Parents" legislation proposed by a CA state representative. The wording they used to appease the gay couple will discriminate against the multiple parent family we will have foisted on us soon.

And this private institution was just cohersed into changing their policy by a threat of lawsuit - they didn't not change it willingly.

It is not enough for people to just leave.

They must demand FULL REFUNDS.

cripple the idiots that allowed this deviancy into the club.

hurt them in the wallet.

the club just made this a defacto child endagerment zone.

You can hardly blame the business owner... he's trying to remain profitable and a homo lawsuit will likely bankrupt him. He know this will be abused and eventually cost him dearly, but what other choice does he have other than move out of state?

I would make a 3rd bathroom and showers and label them "Homo's" and ban any homo caught inside the mens area.

Two men CANNOT have a son. No matter how hard you try, placing your penis in another man’s rectum will NEVER produce a baby.

Which of these 'men' gave birth to their son? If neither of them did... the child's 'womb leasee' (aka the female) needs to have her head examined because her child will grow up to think tyhere's nothing wrong with HOMOSEXUALITY!!

When you give in to perverts you hasten the destruction of our society by your cowardice.
Decent people must grow a spine and stand up to the homo fascists.

“Somebody needs to get Oliver out of there. Where’s his mom?”

I am sure it was probably something along the lines of : One of the 2 gay males gave their sperm for in vitro fertilization to a contracted surrogate mother (paid with all rights to child legally signed away). Then upon Oliver’s birth, the other gay adopted: One biological Dad, one adopted dad, Mother : surrogate. All legal. The trouble with the business model of capitalism: What the consumer wants, he gets. Morality not factored in. In some countries, all this would have been illegal. Same sex marriage and gay adoption in the works of becoming fully legal .

20 years from now as these kids grow up and begin to complain that their upbringings were on false foundations, Newsweek will have on its cover: “Were We Wrong about Gay Families? : What the latest studies are showing”

I suppose he could have had no family discounts moving forward in time, while honoring discounts already in effect up until the term of the contract expires. I think businesses need to be careful now about offering discounts because it now seems like offering a discount is becoming an invitation to be sued. There was the story the other day about the man suing the restaurant for offering a discount to people brining in their program from church attendance. Even downloading a coupon could be seen as discriminating against people without computer access, etc.
