Promises, Promises

Barack Obama has an accountability problem. It’s not simply that during the 2008 campaign he made extravagant promises to heal the planet, slow the rise of the oceans, end political divisions in America, and usher in an era of hope and change. It’s that as a candidate and in the early days of his presidency, Obama and his top aides made a series of very specific promises on a range of issues.

As a candidate, Obama promised to create five million new energy jobs alone, claimed that by the end of his first term his health care plan would “bring down premiums by $2,500 for the typical family,” and guaranteed that his financial rescue plan would help “stop foreclosures.” As president-elect, Obama informed us that he had asked two of his top economic advisers, Christina Romer and Jared Bernstein, to conduct a “rigorous analysis” of his economic recovery plan. The report that he released predicted unemployment would not rise above 8 percent if the stimulus plan was passed. And in the first year of his presidency, Obama pledged to “cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office,” “lift two million Americans from poverty,” and “jolt our economy back to life.”

The problem for Obama is that his predictions were not only wrong; they were terribly wide of the mark. ....

(snip) The “We Couldn’t Possibly Have Known How Bad It Was” narrative is an understandable one for Obama to resort to. But like so much of what the president says these days, it’s simply make-believe. The president has run out of excuses, which explains why for many Americans he’s just about run out of time.

"I inherited this mess from Bush" worked for Obama for more than three years. Recently as his reelection heats up, it is "Republicans sit on their hands, wanting America to fail". The latest is "Most people would acknowledge that I've tried real hard".

Yet half of the voters would still award him and his ilk. This is beyond ridiculously pathetic.

If promises were gunpowder, Obama would not have kept enough of them to blow a gnat’s nose.

An accountability problem?

You mean, the president who won’t even produce his birth certificate?

Yeah, I’d say so.

According to this administration, almost every job created in the last 3 1/2 years is a “Green Job”.

I suspect that enough Americans have been financially hurt in one way or another (job loss, dwindling home value, investment losses, etc) to realize that while George Bush was getting tiresome, Barack Obama looked like a modern-day JFK and was a racial minority to boot,so it was cool to give him a chance Now, the harsh reality has set in and Obama’s excuses, as the article states, look weak and even annoying. His refusal to take responsibility for the failure of his policies and his endless finger-pointing (at Republicans, of course) is getting very old. This is Romney’s election to lose - but, sadly, losing is not out of the question for any RINO.

Good points.

Conservatives want Romney to frame a separation from himself and Obama.

The two are political reflections of one another in many ways, if nothing alike in their personal lives, e.g. Obama, no business experience, never run anything, etc.
So, yeah. It’s Romney’s to lose.

His resume makes Obama’s look weak, which is odd considering that he’s chief executive. Zero is a tremendous fluke and I expect will be a gift that keeps on giving to the egg-heads/ will give many poly sci graduate students grist for topics like, “How In The Hell Did Obama Happen?” or something similar.

So Romney has to get the camel through the eye of the needle, satisfying us while not scaring off the other votes he needs. It’s not unreasonable for voters to expect—and not at all surprising that thinking voters will require, after 2008—a showing by Romney that he’s not another RINO sheep like McCain or lefty ram like Zero.

We need to separate them from one another. We know the “empty suit” while Romney is still playing it cagey, and it’s getting late in the day.

Ezekial 34:
15 ‘I’ll graze My sheep and give them rest, says Jehovah the Lord.
16 I’ll search for the lost and the strayed, and I’ll bring back those who’ve been broken. I will bind and strengthen those that are weak; I’ll guard the strong and allow them to graze their fair share.
17 Then, from among you, My sheep, says Jehovah the Lord, {Look!} I’ll separate the sheep from the sheep, and the rams from the goats.

"Barack Obama has an accountability problem."

Since when has any socialist/communist held another of like ideology accountable for anything?

The only job Obama cares about is his own.

The only freedom Obama cares about is his own.

The only justice Obama cares about is his own.

Need I go on?

Are we really going to give this guy four more years? Really? REALLY?!

(see tagline.)
