Triple-digit temperatures expected to feel as hot as 110 degrees have prompted excessive heat warnings across the D.C. area on Saturday and could threaten all-time highs.

The day continued a trend in the area that hasnít seen high temperatures lower than 95 degrees since the month began.

National Weather Service...

The NWS and NOAA are totally useless government agencies. Their predictions are generally wrong. Furthermore, the alarmist, anti-American agenda is clear: promote the twin hoaxes of global warming and so-called "climate change".

Privately run weather services, notably WeatherBell with Joe Bastardi are far more accurate and don't waste taxpayer dollars perpetuating junk science.

I like the hot weather. You can get used to it if you stay outside most of the time. Sitting inside with air conditioning makes people less tolerant of the heat. Remember that air conditioning is only a recent invention. Our Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence on a steaming July day and back then, they wore heavy wool clothing from head to toe.

I was used to the heat when I was a paint room foreman. 100 degrees was downright cool after spending so much time in proximity to paint ovens.

I like Joe Bastardi. I used to subscribe to his blog on AccuWeather but he left there about a year or so ago. Does his WeatherBell blog match up to his AccuWeather blog? He seems to charge a lot more on WeatherBell which is why I haven’t signed up yet.

Well said. I'm in Texas and we keep the thermostat at 87 during the summer months...feels just fine to us. I have a long memory of the bone-chilling winters in Pennsylvania where I was raised. When it's well into the triple digits here, all I have to do is think back some 55 years to the icy blasts coming off Lake Erie.

Cue The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert Service.

This is positively just the sun doing its thing, very little of anything other than blue sky visible in the air today around D.C. and Northern Virginia. There were hot days during the first little ice age too.

It’s $160 per year and well worth it. As I understand things, Bastardi was nudged out of AccuWeather because he didn’t follow their liberal line of pushing the lies of AGW. It’s AccuWeather’s loss IMHO.

D.C. has always been hotter than the hinges of Hades during the summer months.

My first car was a 1956 Volkswagen with a cloth sunroof. Opened that up on a hot July day on Pennsylvania Ave and never opened it again except at night.

What’s with all the TV “weather emergencies” anyway? Like this never happened before? Sheesh.....

We’ve got 77 degrees now and expecting another 10 degree drop by morning.

I'm in a Memphis suburb of Northern Mississippi now, but grew up for 46 years in a DC suburb...Been hot there before...be hot again. My bet it will be cool this Autumn and damned cold this winter.

That said, I work M-F in an A/C'ed office...or drive in my AC controlled car. On the weekends I work in my garage. Been triple digits here I think since Christmas.

I tie a cotton rag around my head which stops sweat from getting on my face and in my eyes, and once sweat starts to soak my clothes I actually get a chill from time to time.

The body has an amazing ability to take care of itself.

I’ve thought of the Wrath of God possibility, with said Wrath being poured out on liberals and conservatives alike as Divine Vengeance for the smug John Roberts’ ruling on Obamacare.

Hi, Sandy -

You certainly have more heat out there than we do here - I have been to Phoenix in July. I don't think you have the humidity that we do but the temps out there are enough.

This degree of heat is very unusual for us in this area. We usually top out in the mid-90's - triple digits are rare for us. At this hour, we're down to 85 degrees, but the humidity is 64%. For an old, asthmatic geezer like me, this is tough to take. Luckily, we did not lose power as a result of the storm last Friday night. There are many here with power still out. The Boy Governor made a total fool of himself blaming the power company for not restoring power quickly enough. BGE had significant damage to its sub-stations and heavy transmission lines.

As I mentioned, we are extremely lucky we did not lose power. I was a heat casualty in 'Nam and I would have had to go to a cooling center or ER had we lost power. I look forward to Monday or Tuesday when we slip back down into the mid 80's - a piece of cake, even for me. In the meantime, I gladly cede to you the distinction of living in America's blast oven.

Hope things are going well with you - I've been out of touch lately due to heavy hours at work. I thought I heard something about a new grandchild - congratulations to you and the proud parents!

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Humidity makes all the difference. Was 100 here today with 25% hum. Wasn’t to bad. About a week ago it was 88 with 55% hum. That was worse.

Yes they are, but it seems it is only important when it happens in Washington or some other elite city. In Memphis, it has been over 100 degrees for the past 2 weeks. Many days at 106 and we have some of the worst humidity you can ever experience.

It sucks but they aren’t the only ones that have it hot.

All time highs, my butt. I lived in the DC suburbs for 25 years, and we didn't have any kind of AC until 1967. I can remember heat waves just as rough.

Jefferson had high hopes the weather in July and August in that dismal would force the federal government to shut down for half the year, and it worked, probably longer than he dared hope.
