I got an email yesterday from a friend wondering if I was interested in going to an anti-ObamaCare rally in Boston.
To be honest, I didn't want to go. I was still fairly glum about the Supreme Court decision regarding ObamaCare. There were a lot of things today I would have much rather been doing.
But I have been grousing so often to friends and acquaintances about this decision, I didn't feel as though I had any choice.
So I went.
It was a small crowd (I am guessing in the range of 50-100) but they had some speakers who I thought did a fine job. Their sound system was not very helpful, unfortunately (They had an extremely directional microphone, I think, and when it was more than three inches from their mouth, the sound dropped off.
A woman (Someone told me she was the head of the Boston Tea Party chapter) read off a list of "perversions" contained in ObamaCare. It was an odd adjective, but the way she read them off it was very reminiscent of the passage of the Declaration of Independence "... repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world..."
On reflection, I suspect that is what she had in mind...and she did a fine job of delineating and listing those "perversions" even though she was tough to hear. There was an author for a popular magazine (IIRC) whose name I had heard before, and he did a good job.
One of the last people to speak was a gentleman who had taken the time to explain in tabular format, how much Obamacare is going to cost you on the basis of your income. I didn't hear if it was his or he got it from somewhere else, but it was a simple and compelling condemnation of ObamaCare and its effect on the family.
If anyone from the Greater Boston Tea Party reads this, feel free to correct me or give any additional information.

Note: I had to get up and make this sign right before the rally, but thanks to Trooprally and the DC Chapter of FR...I can make signs on short notice. I used Illustrator for this one, and just happened to have some poster board. It rained, so I had to tape the front of the sign, too. Thank God for Trooprally and the DC Chapter...:)
There is a woman on the left holding a yellow piece of paper that said "I Love ObamaCare and RomneyCare". There was a guy having a discussion with her, but she didn't seem like a moonbat from what I could see.
I know this was a small rally, but it encouraged me. I will be frank-what didn't encourage me was the total lack of moonbats (with the exception of one woman shown above holding a piece of paper saying "I love Obamacare and RomneyCare". And I didn't get the impression she was a moonbat. )
But don't get me wrong. I didn't WANT any there, I hate interacting with them, but the fact they didn't show up told me one thing: They think it is OVER. End of argument. Obamacare is now the Law of the Land, and they feel secure.
It is difficult being a conservative up here in Massachusetts. It isn't fun sometimes, and coming on Free Republic can be tough, when you read a lot of people making blanket statements about your state, none of them good. You understand that they are making general statements with the unsaid exception (most of the time) of people who aren't on board with the politics up here. But it still hurts. Do I think there is a chance ObamaCare can be stopped? Not really, especially with the people who we have fighting at the upper levels for us like Scott Brown, McConnell, Boehner et al, and a Presidential candidate in Romney. So, no. Not really. But if there is any chance at all, it will only happen if we can find a way to work together and gather some steam.
And to that, I take my hat off in a sincere salute to the Greater Boston Tea Party, who had a rally in the Belly of The Beast today. Good job, folks.

It is wonderful that folks came to rally. Having lived in Amherst, MA. for many year’s it is hard job being a conservative but they are out there, even in Amherst!

I didn’t know anything about this rally. But I wouldn’t have been able to go, anyway, because I work on Saturdays.

Yeah, it was short notice for me too. Fortunately, my wife understands. She isn’t engaged in politics and doesn’t feel the same way I do about many things, but she sees that it is important to me.
I felt lucky to be able to go on short notice.
Thanks for going on short notice and standing up for the kind of government our Founders gave us with checks & balances, smaller government, more freedom and ‘we the people’ rule!
We must all get behind Romney as it's the only way to defeat BO, save America and restore our Constitutional principles!

Don’t get discouraged - you’re being there encouraged others of us out here to do something too.
The DC Chapter started when MrConfettiman went to protest at the White House with a Fire the Liar Sign and wrote an AAR entitled, “I was there; where were you?” He told us the rules and to ‘come on down next Sat.’. About 6 weeks later, Jim Robinson and lots of FReepers from all over the US were there, in DC, to protest.
