“The Sunday Morning Bray”, by Bray!

“But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius? Matt 20:13

America’s Independence lasted from July 4th 1776 to July 4th 2012. We are no longer a free and independent people we are dependent on an overbearing gummit which can now tell you what to buy and how much you must pay for that purchase. What are you purchasing? Your life has been sold to that gummit by a Democrat congress and a corrupt Supreme Court. After 236 years and numerous wars to maintain our freedom we have had our freedom taken by an enemy from within.

Tonight when you watch those fireworks, just remember they are being fired at you rather than celebrating the defeat of an overreaching, overtaxing and tyrannical king. Tonight will be a celebration of the District of Corruption of the completion of a nearly hundred year plan to slowly own your life and now they have it. If you want to take your chances and go without insurance, you have no choice in that matter; you will buy health insurance. If you want a high deductible since you rarely if ever use it, you have no choice in the matter; you will buy all the bells and whistles. If you want to drop your kids from your plan when they move out or turn 21, you have no choice in the matter, you will cover him. And if you want that heart transplant when you are 68 since your doctor says it will help you live another 10-15 years, you have no choice in the matter; the gummit says no.

We are now living in a Soviet Union where the Central gummit has complete and absolute control of your life from cradle to grave. They now tell you what you can and can’t do and where you can and can’t buy insurance. You are now buying it from DC it’s just they are allowing a number of companies who they have chosen to collect the premiums or in this case the Federal taxes. This health insurance unlike the insurance you have had before is mandated so you have no choice of coverage or what options you believe fit your lifestyle. This is because the gummit focuses on the lowest common denominator so the crack addict or alcoholic in the poorest parts of town can’t afford a high deductible that option isn’t available to you. Just like Moscow or London in 1776, they can’t centrally plan for flexibility so you are forced to take what they have to offer, but don’t forget to pay your higher taxes for that inflexibility.

Now don’t expect any service for the added premiums to cover the uninsurable and crack addicts, you will now have to deal with a bureaucracy that will make Medicare look like the Indy 500. We will be looking at pre-approvals that will be done with the compassion of the IRS and the efficiency of the Post Office. You will be filling out form after form divulging every wart and pimple to some Federal zombie and trying to convince him that you need that mammogram or heart pacemaker like it was his money and not yours because now it is his. Tonight we celebrate the end of Freedom and Independence from King George Obama.

We have one last hope of saving this great experiment of mankind and not Hope and Communism, our hope is the upcoming election and making sure we have 51 Senators. We have to expand the numbers in the House and control the Senate. Every Democrat Sinator is the 51st vote on repeal which is what we have to do or the Death Panels will do their ghoulish work in such efficiency that all of our seniors will be gone in less than 10 years. What Obama, Reid and Pelosi didn’t say is the only way to make the numbers work is to get rid of all the high usage insured so you just tighten down the matrix and the computer keeps on denying operations and soon you have a younger healthier less costly group. The fact you have to resort to euthanasia has never bothered the communists since why should killing old people bother a Party that runs on killing babies.

What is our solution? Repeal this monstrosity and let the Free Market and Free People do what they do best. Bring in real competition like they have in the auto insurance industry so the Progressive girl is promoting new and vibrant ideas which cut down on the overhead and give you exactly what you are looking for, cheap coverage. Allow those who want a $5-10,000 deductible have them and enjoy the savings while at the same time having coverage for something major. We don’t need King George ruling over us telling us what to eat and drink as well as when to do it we need more freedom not less. It is time for him and Pelosi to go and take their ill-gotten millions with them. It is time to campaign like your lives depended on it and in this case it literally does.

Benedict Roberts has destroyed our freedom and it is time to get it back. This will be looked back on as either when we lost our Country or the darkest days of a new dawn. Just like the commies were able to use the baby boom generation as an incrementally communist moving agenda, we have to do the same thing from a freedom granting capitalist movement. We need to educate and redirect people away from big gummit solutions and towards individualistic capitalist solutions. The use of higher deductibles and risk pools as well as Progressive streamlined purchasing options to hold down premiums and eliminate central control and taxation.

This is a long term strategy and movement that will not happen overnight just like the imposition of socialized medicine didn’t. We will have to peel away the onion skins one at a time before we begin to approach that original idea of 1776 which says free men can govern themselves. We have to promote idea that Freedom and Liberty is the most original and efficient means for both politics and economics for being a dynamic Country. It will take every bit as much effort as our Forefathers gave to defeat an evil tyrant back in our founding as is needed to defeat the evil one we are oppressed by now. It is time to fight the fight to take back our Freedom and give it to the next generation and the next.

Pray for America

Note: The above opinion is not necessarily mine, but FReeper Bray’s. If you wish to discuss this, please ping Bray.

Excellent essay, Bray.

Someone was arguing that the Republicans and Romney have no plan to fix the economy aside from saying Obama has to go. I think you've found the solution right here:

What is our solution? Repeal this monstrosity and let the Free Market and Free People do what they do best. Bring in real competition like they have in the auto insurance industry so the Progressive girl is promoting new and vibrant ideas which cut down on the overhead and give you exactly what you are looking for, cheap coverage. It is time for him and Pelosi to go and take their ill-gotten millions with them. It is time to campaign like your lives depended on it and in this case it literally does.

In other words, stop the damage and get out of the way!

And Flo selling Health Insurance? Priceless!!!!

Good morning and thanks for the thread.

Haley Barbour and 2 Democrats on Face the Nation, and I started this morning watching a small part of the homage on the C-Span morning chitchat show to Hillary Clinton. She has now been on more trips than other other Secretary of State in America's history. Which would explain why Bill Clinton is always smiling and doesn't have a permanent head-dent shaped like an ashtray.

And Hillary wrote a book about Taking A Village to Raise A Child. Since somebody in California has proposed legislation to allow more than 2 parents at the same time for a child, she's always been a role model and inspiration.

Can't wait to see the tax return that involves more than 2 parents claiming the same child as a dependent. No wonder the IRS has to hire 1,000's of agents.

Finally, Barney Frank got married. How nice; if this guy friend was a long-time situation, is he the same guy who took the fall for Barney's prostitution ring that was run out of the apartment?

MTP pre-emted for Tour de France coverage.

Rumors persist that the French-speaking David Gregory is going to be replaced at MTP, due to low ratings.

For the other programs, it looks like a holiday line-up. I wouldn’t waste TV electrons to watch Wasserman-Schultz rant and tout everything-Obama-good. Same with McCain and Durbin.

The thread participation certainly has gone down over the years.

But that's true across all of Free Republic.

As an example, the Friday night Canteen thread where they play music, songs and mp3’s used to have 1-2,000 post over the weekend but is down to a couple of to three hundred...

Why?

Well, I know certain reasons I won't articulate here except to say I never seen so much backbiting, rudeness and plain old vulgarity on the site as we've seen this past year. It started back in the 2008 election season, stopped after Palin was nominated, and has been on a low boil ever since. It reached a new high during the past primaries.

Also, people have a lot more alternatives for social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. So for every post on Facebook, we lose one on Free Republic. I remember many years ago, some firm did an analysis of all the Internet web sites to see how they attracted and kept viewers. Free Republic was the “stickiness”. This meant people would stay here far longer than any other site. I wonder what our stickiness looks like today?

McConnell and McCain are not representative of
staunch conservative principles.

Another week passes without Mr. Romney, the presumptive GOPe
candidate, facing a SINGLE TALK SHOW pushing
CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES.

A real CONSERVATIVE candidate, who cared more for America
than him/herself would be pushing conservative principles
every week - loudly, clearly, repetitively.

F&F runs a clip of Obama touting that 84,000 jobs were created last month, “a step in the right direction”, and that ‘we’ have created 4.4 million jobs in the last 28 months.

==

WOW. 4.4 million jobs.

Except — that that number isn't so impressive, when it is extrapolated:

4.4 million for 28 months = 157,142 new jobs per month or 39,285 new jobs per week.

During about 20 of those months, new weekly jobless claims were in the 450,000 range. In the last few weeks the number has dropped to the 385,000 range.

385,000 new WEEKLY jobless; 39,000 new WEEKLY jobs created. The economy is creating jobs at the rate of 1 for every 10 lost.

[Why does Obama use 'the last 28 months"? He has been in office 42 months.]

==

It is even worse for last month:

June 02 - initial claims - 377,000 revised to 380,000
June 09 - initial claims - 386,000 revised to 389,000
June 16 - initial claims - 387,000 revised to 392,000
June 23 - initial claims - 386,000 ...

Total INITIAL [+revised] claims for June: 1,547,000

1,547,000 initial [+revised] claims for unemployment vs. 80,000 [not 84,000 as Obama claimed] new jobs for the month.

At that rate, it would take over 19 MONTHS just to recover from the June numbers.

How dare you claim that the mention of
the absence of Mr. Romney is ... ‘Hated’.

I wondered how long before the RomneyBOTs came
out of the woodwork for Obama and Soros and Romney.

No wonder the this thread is a bare remnant of what
it once was.
Everything about the 1st Amendment has been stricken
and FReepers not on their knees to Romney attacked.

Anything that threatens the illusion of Mr. Romney
as a conservative is followed by ad hominem and
false innuendo.

What a shame for conservative principles.

I haven't read any updates on the status of server upgrades. But it is frustrating to try to follow live news events and FR posting takes 5 minutes or returns 404 Site Not Found errors.

So they “created” 80 to 84,000 new jobs last month but 89,000 went on permanent Social Security Disability, to receive a fat check forever footed by all the rest of us from now on. They leave the work force, helping the “unemployment” numbers. Also, media does not talk about jobs lost, just jobs created.

Meanwhile we went over 2,000 US lives lost in Afghanistan with 1,399 of these incurred under Bambi’s pathetic 3 1/2 years of ROE and mismanagement as opposed to W’s 8 years (630 total). Media is silent.

One other thing, TomGuy...

While the jobless claims were at 80,000, during the same week 84,000 people received Social Security disability.

They’re set for life. They do not have to look for a job anymore, or work somewhere and pay taxes and be a productive American citizen. Now I know SSD isn’t a whole lot of money... But with rent assistance, food stamps, utility grants and other programs you can have a relatively comfortable life. And you don’t have to get off oyu’re fat disabled a$$ to even make a phone call, ‘cause you get an Obamaphone for free!

This just adds to the pool of voters who receive benefits from the government. Think they’ll vote for someone who wants to cut these benefits or taxes the workers drone even more so they can continue the gravy train?

Be very afraid!

Reality check, Diogenesis.

The choices are Obama, Romney or Goode.

One of the polls has Goode at 1%.

Like it or not, the reality check choices are Obama or Romney.

We have already seen 42 months of Obama. What would another 4 years of Obama bring?

[Disclaimer: I didn’t care for any of the GOP primary candidates. I frequently posted ‘is this the best the GOP has?’ But, another 4 years of Obama scares me.]

You sure nailed that one. If only a small percentage of that venom were directed at Zero..... It used to be fun to freely express a conservative opinion here. Now you can be blasted as a RINO liberal robot if you don't exactly follow a narrow line that excludes 3/4 of conservative America.

The problem is incivility. It's baffling, but people converge on an anonymous opinion forum and show they can't abide different opinions.

There are dozens of threads where people pro-Romney, anti-Romney, anti-Obama, ABO, etc are going at it hammer and tongs.

I’m simply asking (asking, not demanding) that people don’t do that on THIS thread. Is that asking too much?

I don’t own this site, nor this thread. I understand anyone can do as they please without my say so.

Still, I’m asking that those kinds of knock-down, drag-out fights don’t occur here.

I’m not just speaking about the Romneybots versus the Romney-haters... The primaires had people going at it over Palin, Perry, Cain, Bachmann, Gingrich and Santorum.

We luckily avoided most of that on this thread.

moonshot925, first you falsely state what I posted
and now you are unable to post the truth.
Those are not signs of your being sentient or conservative.

moonshot925: "Romney is the Republican nominee
and we should all get behind him."

Mr. RomneyCARE is NOT the nominee as yet.
He has fought, backstabbed, cheated, changed rules
during and after the game,
and has misrepresented himself and then hidden,
but he is not the nominee as yet.

moonshot925: "He knows how to balance a budget and will make the cuts that are necessary. "

Actually, Mr. RomneyCARE's record shows otherwise
so why both to misrepresent the truth?
Do you think we are all stupid ... or just cannot remember?

"As U.S. real output grew 13 percent between 2002 and 2006, Massachusetts trailed at 9 percent.
* Manufacturing employment fell 7 percent nationwide those years, but sank 14 percent under Romney, placing Massachusetts 48th among the states.
* Between fall 2003 and autumn 2006, U.S. job growth averaged 5.4 percent, nearly three times Massachusetts' anemic 1.9 percent pace.
* While 8 million Americans over age 16 found work between 2002 and 2006, the number of employed Massachusetts residents actually declined by 8,500 during those years.
"Massachusetts was the only state to have failed to post any gain in its pool of employed residents," professors Sum and McLaughlin concluded.
In an April 2003 meeting with the Massachusetts congressional delegation in Washington, Romney failed to endorse President Bush's $726 billion tax-cut proposal."

One other thing I saw recently to illustrate just how bad the 80,000 number is in reality, it takes about 125,000 new jobs just to keep pace with the growing population. It should be better described as we saw a 45,000 jobs deficit for June alone. Maybe some enterprising soul should go all the way back to February 2009 and run the numbers that way and see what the actual deficit is to date.

Hey Romney Campaign, are you reading?

Thanks for the thread AB.

Brilliant as usual buddy.

We should make sure Mitt sees this piece since it should be coming from his mouth to the ears of everyone in the US. You summarized the may downsides of obamcare exquisitely and so easy to read that everyone is now on board.

Zerocare is also irs agents and all the other facets of a socialist bill which is much much more than a health care bill but a takeover of 1/6 of the economy pos. Always has been.

Of course true to nature our side seldom explains these things as well as they should. That's why the job falls on to the New Media, you, the rest of us, Rush and others to do the heavy lifting. Once again you have done so.

Morning AB, all….

Been a hot week and remember please that I have the tourons here in the swamp.

For when the tourists come for vacation, they cannot die. They can ride their cars 80 miles an hour, back country roads these. They careen around the curves with happy smiles on their faces .

They can pass the slow poke in front within six or seven feet of an oncoming car for they are on vacation, they cannot die, the rules of life are suspended.

Husband and I pitching and moaning and will continue until Labor Day. To add grievance to hurt, the sumguns done went and got GSP AND THEY KNOW ALL THE SHORTCUTS!

Whew. Okay, I’m done.

As always AB, thank you so for doing this thread.

Oh, and made a loaf of home made bread the other day and it turned out fine.

Making pineapple baked beans today, puttering, reading this thread and kinda glad July 4 is past along with the heat wave.

Elections are coming soon!

"WOW. 4.4 million jobs"

It's even worse than you described, if that's possible.

To get to 4.4 million, Obama adds only the months where job numbers increased, and excludes all the months where they decreased. (That's why he excludes 15 months of his presidency.) Some would argue that you should even add the three months of jobs that tanked after Obama was elected, but not inaugurated. That would make it even far worse, yet.

If you used the same counting method for President Bush, the Bush presidency would have been a job generating dynamo. You could also argue that doing so for Bush would be appropriate, since the job losses due to the 9/11 attacks were hardly a result of Bush policies, while the job losses early in the Obama term were indeed caused by his policies.

Exactly! If we were sitting aorund a table, we wouldn’t talk to others that way, for sure. Otherwise, someone would certainly get a black eye!

Also, and probably the best reason, is most conservatives are Christians. Ask yourself, what would Jesus do? Didn’t He command us to love one another? I’ve broken this commandment more than once on this website due to these arguments. So I ask anyone/everyone whom I offended for forgiveness, as I am sorry and repent.

So agian, try to refrain. If anyone comes here looking for a fight do not give it to them. How can you tell that they’re looking for a fight and it’s not just a disagreement?

Well, they’ll totally ignore your argument and start with the insults. A good sign that this person is a troll. Let them have the last word and do not reply. Generally, they’ll move on.

Jindal is all that’s worth a peek; McConnel is a piece of cooked spagetti...and not a good brand, either. Perhaps Mullers.

The sad fact of the matter is that in the end ten years from now much of the mid-east,afghistan,pakistan,iran,saudia arabia and others will still be predominantly muslim 90% or more, all buynginto the insanity of sharia law.

Their biggest problems will be whose head to cut off next. and how radical the madrassas should be. Who is not sufficiently islamic enough and how far behind her man a woman should walk and how much of a her body should be covered up, 92 or 96%. It's all sheer insanity over there and the sooner we get out the better from my standpoint.

Good morning!

I only come to this thread on FR. Reasons:

Too much in-fighting, which pre-dates Romney. I saw it in 2008 when Guiliani backers got the old heave-ho. Before that in 2000, I still remember how Bush supporters were attacked.

(I always thought conservatives were supposed to be reasonable, not emotional.)

Slow servers. This is frustrating when there is a big news event.

Lack of easy posting of graphics (icons, photos, charts, etc.)

Those are the top three. In addition, I prefer posting on Twitter, where I can directly confront news people.

I am also disturbed about the anti-Mormon sentiment I have seen on some threads, which I find strikingly similar to the left.

So that is why I am only here on your thread, and only every so often.

Now to go move the sprinkler. We have not had rain since late May, and I am struggling to keep my landscape alive.

I was speaking of FR as a whole, not this thread. I think all would agree you have the right to make whatever requests you like about this thread.

One person’s hate is another person’s passionate defense of their beloved country. For some, it’s difficult to be nice to people they view as furthering the destruction of the country they love, but I suggest we try.

Please define CONSERVATIVE.

There are way too many people who love “Compassionate Conservatism” and its approach to ever large Federal G’ment and concomitant bureaucracy. Both Bushes fall into this category.

Read my lips - No new Taxes, (David Souter)

No Child left behind (A favorite of Ted the swimmer) (Roberts)

For the rest of you - If the above is acceptable why is Obama not acceptable?

And I do see Mittens as a re-incarnation of the Bushes

Yes, dismal indeed. Except for Jindal, some of our dimmest wimps and some of the Left’s loudest mouths.

This just adds to the pool of voters who receive benefits from the government.

I haven't done an exact calculation, but I am going to guess that if the average poor person in this country had to find a job and replace all the government benefits with an actual paycheck, that poor person would probably have to make around $30-35,000 per year before taxes. I'm sure somebody might have already worked that calculation out, but I have never seen it.

No wonder then that poor people have no incentive to find a job that probably does not exist in the market today.

Add that to around 6,000,000 people who have dropped out of the American work-force during Obama's term so far, and Obama wanting to put 800,000 illegals into the work force, and it will be very difficult for anybody to remove the idle from the benefit gangs.

if this guy friend was a long-time situation, is he the same guy who took the fall for Barney's prostitution ring that was run out of the apartment?

No, that is so last century. I believe his name was Gary Studs, that had to be 1000 packers ago.

The nation’s workforce expanded by 189,000 in June, 85,000 were added to social security’s disability rolls while only 80,000 unemployed found jobs, and Obama calls it a “step in the right direction”. Anyone who thinks he deserves another four years must be getting all their news from MSNBC.

Part of the problem here besides the take it or leave it attitude,my way or the highway,is that we are all at different levels of participation. There are those here who make mainstream journalists look like rookies. Its very possible they have a hard time mixing with others who are at a very base level. Some here are so far ahead of what we read or see on TV that it has to be a frustrating experience to know what is coming up yet watch the DBM purposely not cover it or FNC not get there as quick as we do.

Then you have the fact that we are living under a communistic regime that is so easy for us to see/diagnose and yet a high percentage of the populace perhaps 48% just don't get it.And, are too lazy to do the research we have done.

FR has never tolerated ignorance very well and we tolerate it even less today.

This place may be down today but not out.

While FR may remain a take few prisoners type of site those who are successful here learn enormously and have the respect of many in their community. The two just follow.

Washerwoman is trying to tell everyone is doing well in the Obama meltdown. Detroit is the crown jewel of his economy and America needs to look more like that.

Romney is evil who will drag us back to Bush’s 4% unemployment.

Pray for America

Why do you persist? They have closed ranks. They are going to eat what they’re served, no matter how it tastes, but you’re just making it worse by reminding them what it is.
Get with the program and help them forget! :)
