Statement by the father of Lance Cpl. Hunter “H.D.” Hogan (KIA 06/23/12 Re: ROE)
New ^ | July 07, 2012 | Steve Hogan

Posted on 07/08/2012 1:28:25 PM PDT by huldah1776

Lance Cpl. Hunter “H.D.” Hogan entered the USMC 26 OCT. 2009.

He served with the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division.

The most outstanding custom in the Marine Corps is simply “being a Marine” and all that it implies. Call it morale, call it esprit de corps, call it what you will — it is that pride which sets a United States Marine apart from the other armed services. It is not taught in manuals, yet it is the most impressive lesson a recruit learns in boot camp. It is not tangible, yet it has won fights against material odds. Perhaps Sen. Paul H. Douglas has best defined it:

“Those of us who have had the privilege of serving in the Marine Corps value our experience as among the most precious of our lives. The fellowship of shared hardships and dangers in worthy cause creates a close bond of comradeship. It is the basic reason for the cohesiveness of Marines and for the pride we have in our corps and our loyalty to each other.”

Lance Corporal Hunter “H.D.” Hogan was proud of his Corps and believed it to be second to none. He was loyal to his comrades and to the Marine Corps, adhering always to the motto Semper Fidelis, Always Faithful.

H.D. on his personal side was all about, as he said the 3 F’s... family, friends, and fun. With emphasis on fun! Hunter lived his life at 110 miles per hour. Whether it be his passion for rodeo and bucking horses, his enthusiasm hunting and fishing, or with his time in the Marine Corps.

H.D. had the ability to make people around him push themselves to be better at whatever they were doing. Be it with a quick witted comment or on occasions with his brutally honest sharp tongue. Hunter was a man that people gravitated to. Recent comments that have been posted to his Facebook page trumpet one thing about this young man. Saying not that H.D. was my best friend in 2nd grade or in football or in high school rodeo. Going down the list of posts they all began or ended with H.D. was my best friend, period. And there are few better than him to have on your side.

Hunter had opportunities to college rodeo. He chose the Marine Corps instead. Saying that he just wanted to serve his country for 4 years and he’d get back to rodeing afterwards. In doing so it brought him into the love of his life, Brittney. He was never so happy as when they were married on December 29, 2010. For those of you who were blessed to be around them, you all knew that they were a perfectly matched couple. You could also see the true pure love that they had for each other.

We as family and friends of H.D. have all suffered a tremendous blow with the loss of this amazing young Hero. But through this tragedy some wonderful positives have begun to emerge.

His wife and father have decided as these positive things are popping up, that H.D.’s up in heaven with us all in a pot. And he’s occasionally reaching into it with a stick and giving it a quick little stir. Then sitting back with his crooked grin and giggling.

Hunter H.D. Hogan (pause) Fearless and Brave (pause) Man, he sure could Cowboy.

We as family and friends of Lance Cpl. Hogan and other service members, want to know why the media in our country has coddled instead of covered this Teflon coated administration!

We listened every night on the news for 8 years with the previous administration the casualty reports. With the present administration nothing is reported!

With the news of our recent loss of H.D. and others in his battalion, many people have made statements like “I didn’t think anything was going on there anymore.” “I thought the Marines were leaving there.” Etc. etc.

Here’s the statistics in Afghanistan for the 8 years of George Bush. The total killed in action under him is 660. Barack Obama in 3 years and 5 months the total killed in action is a total of 1,398.

Wounded under George Bush is 2,637 in 8 years. Wounded under Obama up to January 31st of this year is 11,529.

Why isn’t the media covering this instead of covering the protestors of these brave service men and women’s funerals?

The policies of this current administration and the rules of engagement are a huge factor with these casualty reports. The limited air and artillery support our men receive. The limited company level support such as motors, as well as the approval to return fire are hampering and adding to the danger they are in daily. Not to mention the severely limited night operations, that is approved, because it scares the Afghan people.

Let the military run the war. They are the professionals. Or get our people out of there.

How many more black walls full of names are we going to build?

I’ve sent Steve’s letter and the stats to everyone I could think of. They’ve been placed for all to see on FR.....

PLEASE contact as many people as you can: E-mail, ping people to email, contact your congressman, contact MSM.

Where is the out rage?

Have we surrendered so soon?

Ok, thank you. I posted on my facebook page but will send to my email list tonight too. I am very appalled. This is really criminal to do this to our military.

Barack Obama, the leftwing media's idea of an effective leader.

God bless our military. May Obama and his leftwing allies receive exactly what they deserve for the abuse they've heaped upon this nation.

More Than 14,000 U.S. Troops Were Wounded In Afghanistan Since 2008 | The Congressional Research Service released a report this week that found that to date, 2,030 Americans have died in Afghanistan and in the broader Operation Enduring Freedom since October, 2001. Nearly 2,700 soldiers were wounded in Afghanistan from 2001 through 2008, while a staggering 14,143 have been wounded since, a period of time that included a substantial troop surge:

there is a graph at the site:

http://thinkprogress.org/security/2012/07/13/516771/afghanistan-14000-wounded/?mobile=nc

It is because of the surge and winning the fight there, but it would have been less because of the ROE.

I don’t understand what are these young men fighting for
in Iraq and Afganistan..(under obama)
They always told us it was for the terrorists al-Qaeda
(at least that was true under Bush)
But the same al-Qaeda were the rebels and freedom fighters in Egypt and Libya....
so bad in Iraq and ok in Libya...

so many wounded and killed since obama stole office

I think if I were fighting al-qaeda, I would have chosen to fight in Iraq, where the logistics and supply routes were available and the mobile guerrilla enemy would come to you, plus you take out saddam. Just read where Syria is moving chemical weapons and I think chemists will be able to provide information on their point of origin (at least they can on tv) and find that some are from Iraq.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/14/world/middleeast/syria-moves-some-chemical-weapons-us-says.html?_r=1

AS for Afghanistan, we did go after ben laden, but who is more dangerous? al zawahiri who is still alive and in Pakistan (enemy of our ally India) and the brains behind ben laden, now number one of al qaeda. Just as Obama is not dangerous on his own as a community organizer, but those he organized as a group are termites with jaws the size of bucket loaders that are eating the foundation of liberty. I digress.

The hope for Afghanistan is the educated young. But the Taliban have closed many schools and we have to pull out...

Will do...

I was just trying to watch “Black Hawk Down”, but couldn’t. I don’t know what I was thinking, however...One statement caught my attention...

“Now, I had requested light armor and AC-130 Spector [?] Gunships but Washington, in all its wisdom, decided against this. Too high profile, so black hawks and little birds will provide the air cover...”

Hair stood up on the back of my neck.

Another patriot died for the benefit of politicians, due to bad ROE. I originally believed in bombing Aftganiscrap to the dark ages they so desire. Now, I say pull out all our boys and girls out of there and let them go back to their 7th century ways.

The next time that sick country/society attacks us, f**king nuke them to hell. Sorry, I don't give one sh*t about their women and children. Kill them all like we did in Dresden and Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They learned their lesson, didn't they?

I care more about my countrymen and children than theirs. Sue me.

Just maybe the goat humping, women abusing, death culture of mohammed will wise up - or at least back off. Either kill them all or get out. I'm tired of this half-assed Viet Nam bullsh*t. Screw nation building - their sick society will never learn. They are a perverse society and everyone knows it.

Hey Lady! Just posted another blog entry by John Bernard and was going to ping a couple of people.

We need to get a real backing for this ROE fiasco. Especially with the next administration being so quiet about his foreign policies.
