The Obama campaign began airing a TV ad Saturday in key election states attacking Mitt Romney for his stances on abortion and Planned Parenthood that was immediately rebuked by the Romney campaign as “viciously” negative and false.
The 30-second spot titled “Troubled” is airing in Virginia and seven other swing states.
“Every woman who believes decisions about our bodies and our health-care should be our own is troubled Mitt Romney supports overturning Roe v. Wade,” says a female voice at the beginning of the ad. “Romney backed a law that outlaws all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest.”;
Romney, though, has not taken that position publicly.
In response, the Romney campaign pointed to Romney’s op-ed last year in the National Review titled “My Pro-Life Pledge” in which he said abortion should be “limited to only instances of rape, incest or to save the life of a mother.”
The campaign also argued the ad began airing the day after a U.S. unemployment report that showed the jobless rate remains at 8.2 percent.
“It’s no coincidence that a day after a disastrous jobs report, the Obama campaign drops viciously negative and false ads against Gov. Romney desperate to change the subject,” spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg told FoxNews.com. “The economy has gone negative on President Obama, so he has decided to go negative on Mitt Romney.”
The ad also includes a video clip of Romney in which the GOP presidential candidate appears to imply he will get rid of Planned Parenthood, which the ad states provides “life-saving cancer screenings.”
Romney made clear after making the statement in March that if elected he would cut federal funding to, but not eliminate Amtrak and National Endowment for the Arts to reduce the federal debt.

Obama’s running on empty. They have nothing even remotely legitimate to put int heir ads...either positive about their record. Or legitimate charges against the GOP House or Romney.
Stupid, lying ad by Team Obama and a good, factual and most of all, immediate response from the Romney team that points out Obama is trying to deflect criticism from his mishandling of the U.S. economy. Obama only further hurts his already-thin credibility with undecided voters when he tries to lie his way to re-election with rubbish that is easily refuted for the falsehood it is. Obama’s desperation is showing.
Mitt, The Mute, will not mention that Obama voted to let babies die of thirst after a botched abortion. What a thoroughly EVIL man Obama is, and how fortunate for him that a weak man is his opponent.
Everyone has known all along that Obama was going to run a smear campaign because he cannot run on his record. The Romney team is just going to have to stay on top of their game and counter every false ad IMMEDIATELY!!!
I am so glad we nominated a RINO wimp, once a again. He has no clue how to battle the Chicago thugs. Nor does his team.
I never thought it could be possible. But I think Obama will win. I am more convinced of it today. After all the bad economic news, Romney is now the one on the defense and sliding in the polls.
Romney seemed far more in his comfort zone attacking the likes of Newt, Perry, and Santorum than he is in fighting the ultra-rich target of Obama (i.e. Rev Wright off the table).
Unless he gets off his butt and stops with the “he’s a nice guy, just in over his head” routine, he’s going to get smoked.
I still like the guy on the radio’s idea. Mitt needs to do only one ad. “At least I don’t eat dog!” It’s going to be that kind of campaign. None of those Flukers are going to want to talk about jobs and the economy.
I’m trying to figure out why so many people here on FR say that there is no difference between Romney and Obama on abortion.
If that’s the case, then how does anything mentioned in this article make sense?
And if it is not the case, then why do they keep saying it?

Romney can’t win on this. Anything he says is an outright lie!!
As governor and for 30 years prior he supported abortion as a “right.” Now that he wants to run as a Republican for president, he has to claim that he is pro-life! And apparently, he has no idea what that even means, much less does he believe in it.
My questions:
Does Mitt Romney support eliminating funding to Planned Parenthood? If not, he’s not the candidate for me.
Does Mitt Romney support the overturn of Roe vs. Wade? If not, he is not the candidate for me.
Does Mitt Romney believe abortion is wrong? No exceptions? If not, I don’t trust him any more than the rest of the pro-abort crowd who make lists of “reasonable reasons to kill an unborn baby”.
Romeny is, and will continue to campaign as a limp-wristed, pansy, loser just like the previous GOP candidate for POTUS.
Obama has provided ample ammunition that is 100% factual to use as cannon fodder enough for several elections. Romney continues to lob softballs and cotton candy, while Obama throws massive fireballs, mud balls, and artillery (the media and most Americans don’t care about the truth, or are too stupid to know any different... or maybe lazy).
Love it! The man stands to win the presidency. You would expect anyone with such strong backing to show some spine. Instead, he limps through his campaign.

Because he has a long record of having Obama’s pro-choice position. He even gave his own money to the cause and signed pro-abortion legislation...just like Obama.
But like everything else, you’ll ignore that because ‘you believe” what he says, and not what he does.
Or do you deny his documented history Yam?
Even if these ads lie we have millions of brain dead Democrats that still believe the world is flat. And they do not have the ability to change.
The problem we're stuck with is Willard has more positions than the Kama Sutra.
