Bill Kristol: Romney camp has reason to ‘worry’
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/236613-bill-kristol-romney-camp-has-reason-to-worry ^

Political analyst Bill Kristol on Sunday added to conservative criticism of Mitt Romney's campaign, saying it was a troubling sign that Obama was still ahead in the polls despite a still weak economy.

"I think the Fox News poll actually has the key to what the problem is for the Mitt Romney campaign. Do you think Barack Obama has a clear plan for improving the economy or not? Yes, 41; no 53. It's not great for an incumbent president. The economy is slow. And you are only at 41-53," said Kristol.

"Do you think his challenger, Gov. Romney, has a clear plan for improving the economy or not? Yes, 27; No, 55," he continued.

"I don't think you can beat an incumbent president, even if the economy is slow, if 27 percent of the voters think you as the challenger don't have a clear plan for improving the economy," Kristol said.

Looks like come November, Romney will go down like the Hindenberg. Even with an economy this horrible, King Barack may win in a landslide that makes the 2008 election look close.

Romney DOES have a plan. Look at his website. Problem is, the news media will hide that from the public. It’s part of their plan to get 0bama re-elected.

If I were a cynical guy, I would think you might be a DU troll. Romney hasn’t even begin to campaign yet. It’s still early. Most people don’t pay attention until Labor Day. Obama is not going to get elected with 41 straight months of unemployment above 8 percent.

Boehner said it right - 95 percent of voters will be either voting for or against Obama.

And that is largely the fault of Romney, his insipid campaign and the GOP-E morons who thought he would be a good candidate. This should have been an election for the taking, but instead they can only hope that Obama hands it to them, as they apparently don't have any other plan for winning it.

Wow, you are smoking some really good crack there buddy.

Just because Billy Kristol says something doesn’t make it true.

Lets look at the numbers a bit shall we, instead of the sky is falling nonsense.

Obama is viewed as an extremist by 47% of voters, Romney 31%.

Obama is being out fund raised 2 to 1.

Obama has lost 20% of the white democratic voters. That’s right, a full 20% of one of the largest block the democratic party has, are openly admitting they intend to vote for Romney.

Lower level democrats in all but the bluest of blue districts are avoiding being seen with and distancing themselves from Obama.

Obama is the only president in the modern age who is going to end their term with less people working than the day he took office.

Obama has a peak support nationally of 42-43%, that’s it, thats if he runs a perfect campaign, and his campain, like his presidency is a joke, amateurish and flat out laughable.

This race is a simple referendum on Obama, and Obama is going to fail it massively. This sky is falling nonsense has to end, because its just not based in reality.

I don’t like Romney for a lot of reasons.

But Kristol is full of it. If Romney knows anything, its economics. The O couldn’t run a convenience store. He is one of the dimmest of dim bulbs to occupy the White House in my life time.

In any case, O isn’t in charge of his own agenda so I think its fair to say he doesn’t have “any” economic plan of his own. His job is to be the face while his handlers push through their agenda.

This is Kristol trying to feather his self-serving position as a DC GOP-elite pundit SIMP......he’s no more conservative or sympathetic to conservative Americans’ plights and unfairness than Obama is. He is, frankly, a traitor to American values hiding under the guise of a conservative. I’d no more listen to him than a drunk on the corner asking for sandwich money - only the cash, not the sandwich....

That's not the way I see it. Remember Cain's 9-9-9 and that portion of the debates? It was at that time that reference arose to Romney's 58(?) point plan in one of the debates.

Even Romney couldn't address his plan.

Cain's was easily remembered. Romney's might as well NOT have existed for the complexity of it.

When was the last time you heard Romney touting his 58 point plan? The bottom line...he needs to come out with a new plan, and it should be modeled on the easy recognizability of Cain's.

We have tantrum troop all or nothing players at FR working hard to promote that collapse. They use ideas like ‘deny either one a mandate by voting to make it very close, a no mandate plurality, or if you live in a state where your vote won’t matter anyway, vote third party rather than vote for Romney. With the number of Soros Spanish vote counting states, this strategy has the added progressives benefit of making a close vote which the vote fraud can turn into a win for democrats down ticket. These are stealth dnc tactics writ large at FR of late.

Do you think Barack Obama has a clear plan for improving the economy or not? Yes, 41; no 53.

"Do you think his challenger, Gov. Romney, has a clear plan for improving the economy or not? Yes, 27; No, 55

I would vote "Yes" with the 41% that Obama has a clear plan for improving the economy, too! Of course, I think his "clear plan" is actually the WRONG PLAN, and that is it proving to destroy the economy, but there's the silliness of these poll questions.

Hey, perhaps those polled are smart enough to realize that it doesn't matter whether the President has some stupid imperial top-down central 5-year plan.

While Romney is taking in more money than Obama now, Obama still has more money in his war chest because of earlier fundraising.

Overconfidence is a candidate's worst enemy.

A lot can happen between now and the election.

Rasmussen has Romney ahead slightly—and it’s been that way for weeks. Kristol is citing a Fox poll because he works for them. But it is not among the most accurate polls whereas Rasmussen is #1 in accuracy and has been for the last 5 election cycles. Those on here prouncing doom for Romney act like it’s October 31st. It’s early July! Wait until the convention, the VP pick and the fall when people start really paying attention. I think you’ll see a nice lead develop for Romney. People are not going to re-elect a guy with these employment numbers. And the fundraising energy is clearly on Romney’s side, indicating political momentum as well. And when you have a new Hill poll showing 56% say Obama’s changed the US for the worse, I really don’t see an Obama win coming together here.

I agree. Kristol, Will, Krauthammer, et al are ALL in this game for themselves. They are defeatists, because their livelihoods are tied to being the polite opposition to a ‘benevolent’ Democratic Regime.

The problem is that there is no such thing as a benevolent Democratic Regime, unless you are an effing leech hell-bent on living off others - no job, no ethics, no morals, no patriotism.

For those of you out there that listen to the Sunday talk shows, don’t believe that ANY so-called conservative pundit you will hear actually sympathizes with you. They are liars and they are protecting their cush jobs of being the loyal timid opposition.

Romney cannot or will not fight. He’s toast unless he really turns around the way he campaigns. Obama’s snarly, twisted with hatred face at his rallys for his surly, violent SEIU gangsters stomps all over Romney’s country club style after dinner speeches. How can a man who has been running for president since he left the governorship be so inept and be surrounded by personally loyal incompetents at this late date? How depressing.

Carter lead Reagan by 7 to 9 points almost until the last week before the election, and we know how that election turned out!

In addition, I expect Romney to blow Obama out of the water during the debates. Just the visual alone — scrawny Obama versus hale Romney — will help ROmney.

It's not actually a nationwide referendum ~ more like a tight referendum in about 10 states. Then, one of those states is Virginia and Romney has already cr*pp*d in his bed in that state making what should have been a Republican party runaway a very narrow race of less than 1% difference between an hypothetical Romney/Obama contest.

In fact, the race gets down to my precinct ~ and I expect both these guys to be there election day begging for my favor.

Lest you laugh this happened the year Baliles ran for Governor. The pollsters had done their job well (kinda), and when we drove into the Garfield gradeschool parking lot to vote we saw the Republican candidate standing there waving to us. As we parked Gerald Baliles himself came out and handed us a sample ballot.

Baliles went on to win with over 50% of the vote, but the polling had it much tighter at the time ~

Personally? I have no idea of the inner workings at present of the Romney Campaign; you don’t either. All I see are defeatists and so-called Republican Patriot Loyalists carping and complaining about how “he hasn’t done this or that”....Almost every erstwhile conservative pundit in the DC area today is just itching to undermine our only chance at throwing that ba$tard out of office. They all are protecting their jobs and incomes and tepid acceptance in the DC Whore Media.

I wasn’t in the tank for Romney one damned bit before, but at this point, it’s either him or despotism and destruction.

Take your pick. Stop listening to tailored, biased accounts of things we actually know nothing about at this point in time. Pick your candidates, especially down-ticket, and if you can stomach it, pull the lever for Romeny while you’re at it.

Seriously Perdogg, when you have a contest this easy with a sitting President who is despised by such a large percent of the voting public there's no reason at all for you GOP-e types to run around finding someone equally dislikable, subject to the same failings, supporting the same stupid policies, to run against him.
