HOUSTON (AP) The head of the NAACP says the group's fight against conservative-backed voter ID laws that have been passed in several states is akin to the great civil rights battles of the 1960s.
Benjamin Todd Jealous, the CEO and president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, told delegates at the group's annual convention on Monday in Houston that these are Selma and Montgomery times.

NAACP head: Voter ID fight akin to 60s battles
Is he saying they tried to cheat and unfairly manipulate the outcome back then, also?
Our legal Hispanics, Asians, etc., all agree.
Photo iD is needed to stop fraud no matter which side.
And the few I know personally are really pizzed about it.
The lefts excuses only highlight WHO the real fraudsters are.
They are so ‘transparent’.
What jackwagons. Bend the law any way necessary to satisfy their delusional sense of justice.
One vote per living citizen of age. Too complicated, genius?
“Why would you NOT want to? Unless you were up to no good, committing fraud, etc.”
Absolutely; the agenda is so transparent.
Instead of bitching the NAACP should identify citizens without ID and reach out to them. They have the resources. I would hope the GOP is doing something like this, making sure that all registered Republicans have valid ID.
Thank you AP. It's about time the press started replacing the word honesty with conservative!
At least the lady to his right was kind enough to hold his purse while he held hands with his black friend. He’s likely to be jealous though, once he sees his black friend fingering Pelosi’s gavel.
the head of the NAACP needs to get HIS head out of his backside.
You have to have photo ID to get SSI, WIC, and Medicaid, you have to have photo ID to get any check cashed.
I’m getting real sick of “That’s Racists” being said.
Let’s also look at Mexico. They just had a Presidential election, where you had to show...wait for it...PHOTO ID.
It’s all about protecting the democRATs’ long-held tradition of voter fraud. Voter ID cards would be a threat. Can’t have that now, can we?
I was in a bank today and the guy ahead of me was asked to provide his ID and his PIN. He didn’t get upset or claim racism or repression.
What’s the big deal? Show your ID.
Create ads in the inner cities that say: "Some gay illegal hispanic is trying to take away your vote!, better get an ID"
Sit back and watch liberal heads explode.
I doubt Mr. Jealous remembers very much about the 60s. Most commie lib ‘RATS don’t. He may want to lighten up.
Without major Republican support in 1964 the CRA of 1964 would have failed to pass muster and Jealous would likely be in another line of work, but probably still peddling BS as truth.

Those who fail to know their history are gonna have a hard time making their way down a path the Dems always claim credit for blazing.

Oooh, deep in my heart,

We’ll vote on behalf of great grandad.
yep, rascist scumbag..
Considering how freely the NACCP and the like throw around the race card, it makes me wonder who long they’d last if they were sent back in time to the days they claim they’re living in now.
Interesting theory. Requiring a photo id to purchase liquor, cigarettes, spray paint, glue... or even to collect food stamps or drive a car has done nothing to "diminish" 'minority's' abilities to acquire those items or keep them off the roads. How is requiring them to show a photo id to vote diminishing their power to vote the same amount of times I do (once)?
What battle are they talking about?
