Mitt Romney: the wrong man for the Right
Daily Telegraph (UK) ^ | 8:46PM BST 09 Jul 2012 | Peter Foster

Posted on 07/09/2012 3:53:51 PM PDT by Olog-hai

He’s politically dumb and his campaign is run by amateurs. He doesn’t have a message and doesn’t know how to deliver a message. He’s a political letdown running on autopilot who needs to grab the controls. He’s a man whom only friends, relatives and fellow Mormons will ever love. And his name is Mitt Romney, Republican candidate for President of the United States.

These are stinging jabs. All were made in the past week and all share one surprising thing in common: they were delivered not from the Obama campaign’s Chicago attack machine, as you might expect, but in a succession of punches from the Right.

Conservative pundits and editorial columns, senior Republicans and two of the big beasts of the business world—Rupert Murdoch and the former talismanic chief executive of General Electric, Jack Welch—have all voiced serious misgivings about Romney’s ability to deliver victory in November. …

The primary charge against Romney is one of passivity. Those on the Right who believe that they have the economic arguments to kick-start the US economy—to make it “morning again in America” as the inspiring Ronald Reagan ad put it—find Romney’s apparent inability to seize the day maddening. It’s what explains not just the criticism, but the contemptuous tone. The Wall Street Journal charged last week that Romney appeared to want to “coast” to the White House by simply repeating (as the Romney campaign does, daily) that the Obama economy is failing. “Thanks, guys,” came the bitter payoff, “but Americans already know that.” …

The author of this article is a liberal. He takes every opportunity to bash conservatives of every type. Peter Foster has no more credibility than Chris Matthews.

I think a solid VP candidate can pull this out. I know it’s not going to happen, but Newt would be the ideal VP. I like Condi Rice too. She can debate anyone on any subject including the NFL.

He’s politically dumb and his campaign is run by amateurs.

And yet he beat everyone he ran against during the primary.

I don't like the guy; if he's a loser, the smart guys who lost to him are... not going to be the nominee this time out.

You may think its better to reelect O, but I've decided anyone, anyone picked at random from the phonebook is better than O. And that includes Romney. Don't like the guy, but he knows a bit about economics, and he doesn't hate America.

Does not matter if he is liberal or conservative. He is right. And I could not find one conservative amongst my friends and family who disagree with him.

I like the idea of Newt. And I love Condi. But I do not think either of them wants to be associated with Romney. I could be wrong. Do you think either of them would accept the VP slot?

He may look dumb but I think he is the smartest candidate since Walter Mondale! It think that is just a savvy move by Romney to throw off the liberal pundits!

In the long run it is going to win him the election in November. That Romney would make for a GREAT SC Chief Justice with such great savvy!

Yea, true. Because Romney distorted and out right lied about records, pulled out bogus stories, innuendos that destroyed candidates, and was supported my a media that is betting he can not beat BHO because of RomneyCare and his liberal record.

That’s a joke. He beat everyone through lies, a bigger campaign wallet funded by the elite, and with support of the GOPe poofters.

As for “economics.” Massachusetts would be better off as one giant sinkhole. Every promise he ever gave in that State he broke, and the SOB has he nerve to defend his actions saying “Look, it was bad before.” And it stayed bad and got WORSE after he was gone.

Everything you believe about Mitt Romney is a myth. That is why his name is Myth Romney. Remember that well.

Townhall columnist Larry Kudlow, in a recent article titled, “Obama’s Goose is Cooked” had a different take on Mitt Romney:

“Now the question is, with Obama’s economic goose cooked, does Mitt Romney have what it takes to win the election and provide a pro-growth economic model that will restore prosperity at home and America’s number-one position around the world?

“Some powerful figures — including Rupert Murdoch, Jack Welch, and even my brothers and sisters at the Wall Street Journal editorial page — have taken shots at Romney in recent days. But I am more optimistic. In response to his critics on the day of the bad June jobs report, Romney talked about expanding energy resources, approving the Keystone pipeline, cutting taxes, and increasing trade with Latin America. He reaffirmed his intention to cut federal spending and eliminate programs.

“Basically, Romney is promising a return to free-market, supply-side policies on taxes, trade, regulation, and spending. Hopefully he will embrace a sound and stable dollar as well. I still believe Romney is the most underrated politician in America today, and that he’s the most conservative Republican standard bearer since Ronald Reagan. “

I hope he’s right!

He beat no one! He only had one opponent and he spent MILLIONS lying about him/NEWT!! And now he's left standing looking like the loser liar that he is.

He had no smarts - heard NOTHING from his mouth that comes close to it. When Newt was campaigning, he stole rhetoric from him to 'appear' smart - and even that is gone now.

******************************

I can't believe that anyone, on either side, buys this.

Romney is politically astute and has a very professional campaign staff. He's been running for president all of his life.

It's what he lives for.
