Mitt Romney: the wrong man for the Right
Daily Telegraph (UK) ^ | 8:46PM BST 09 Jul 2012 | Peter Foster

Posted on 07/09/2012 3:53:51 PM PDT by Olog-hai

He’s politically dumb and his campaign is run by amateurs. He doesn’t have a message and doesn’t know how to deliver a message. He’s a political letdown running on autopilot who needs to grab the controls. He’s a man whom only friends, relatives and fellow Mormons will ever love. And his name is Mitt Romney, Republican candidate for President of the United States.

These are stinging jabs. All were made in the past week and all share one surprising thing in common: they were delivered not from the Obama campaign’s Chicago attack machine, as you might expect, but in a succession of punches from the Right.

Conservative pundits and editorial columns, senior Republicans and two of the big beasts of the business world—Rupert Murdoch and the former talismanic chief executive of General Electric, Jack Welch—have all voiced serious misgivings about Romney’s ability to deliver victory in November. …

The primary charge against Romney is one of passivity. Those on the Right who believe that they have the economic arguments to kick-start the US economy—to make it “morning again in America” as the inspiring Ronald Reagan ad put it—find Romney’s apparent inability to seize the day maddening. It’s what explains not just the criticism, but the contemptuous tone. The Wall Street Journal charged last week that Romney appeared to want to “coast” to the White House by simply repeating (as the Romney campaign does, daily) that the Obama economy is failing. “Thanks, guys,” came the bitter payoff, “but Americans already know that.” …

"God Have Mercy on all of us,we are so screwed. Is it too late for Newt,Or Better Yet,someone come with me Im going to Alaska to Pick Up Sarah Palin! This is Pathetic"

In the back of my mind - I seem to remember Sarah saying that she would step up if the chosen candidate was not the right choice.

Does anyone else remember this?? If there are any quotes from her about this - please post them so we can get together to make a decision to dump this guy!!!

sorry to rain on your parade, but Mr. RomneyCARE
has lost most of his election attempts AND
this time HE IS THE AUTHOR of OBAMACARE and death panels.

No wonder he had to backstab Gov. Palin and her children
through surrogates.

I agree aboslutely with the author.

Secondly, so a repuplican judge sides with Obama and ends liberty in America, and our candidate SAYS NOTHING then goes on VACATION!?

Pardon me while I panic.

Thank you for this post!

A splendid regurgitation of my own opinion in a concise and factual few paragraphs.

Anyone knew Romney was finally in real trouble when even Murdoch was repelled by the empty suit Mitt and his dull, pointless campaign— a portrait of what NO CLUE looks like.

Add to these complaints the fact that Romney’s own record mirrors Obama’s in governance and you have no contrast, certainly, and possibly no contest.

Yessiree, Bob -- It's time for a true conservative darkhorse to step forward and save the GOP.

The good news is, the 'ol Sphinxerooni is tanned, rested, and ready. And I have as good a chance as anyone else who wants to waste their time badmouthing the candidate we've got, like it or not.

So if you are part of the "I'll still never vote for Romney" crowd, freepmail me and I give you deposit info for my super-duper secret Nigerian bank account, where I'm amassing my Save America warchest, to keep it under the radar screen until the time is ripe.

Do not forget the open primary states and the states that mitt successfully had SoS keep his main two competitors OFF THE BALLOT. mitt beat nothing and nobody. He scammed his way in with manipulation of electors and bought his way to the top with tens of millions in negative attack ads... and his allies were those in charge of the gop machine and the money.

This is getting ridiculous. Romney is leading or tied with Obama in legitimate polls, and until 10 days ago was being universally cheered by our side for a good focused campaign and incredible rapid response.

I was anyone but Romney in the Romney, and like most here, knew selecting him was a bad idea based on healthcare. That said, this ganging up is absurd.

Larry Kudlow,....had a different take on Mitt Romney:

I still believe Romney is the most underrated politician in America today, and that he’s the most conservative Republican standard bearer since Ronald Reagan. “

A different take from the truth. Now that is the biggest pile of BS - like it came out of Romney's underwear. He is the LOWEST of liberals - he doesn't even reach RINO status.

He is applying the description of Newt and Sarah and applying it to liberal romney. How pathetic. Not so strange that they are the two conservatives he trashed vehemently because they are conservative and most like RR.

“Please tell me these are not the same people a Couple months ago were saying Romney is the only One who can beat Obama!”

Yes, you just hit it out of the ballpark. Bill Cristol has been bashig Mitt all weekend and again on Cavuto. He was Mr. Mitt along with almost every pundit as well as Kraut. Now they got their wish and they are disappointed already.

I think he’s doing OK. Maybe after the convention he will start laying on the negative ads and hopefully pound OBooboo in the debate.

“I like Condi Rice too. She can debate anyone on any subject including the NFL.”

I like her too but she is not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination and would move the ticket farther to the left than it is. Plus she would draw the token “they need a black” attack.

Leave her to run the NFL

"Yea, true. Because Romney distorted and out right lied about records, pulled out bogus stories, innuendos that destroyed candidates, and was supported my a media that is betting he can not beat BHO because of RomneyCare and his liberal record."

Exactly. Romney's greatest strength is carpet-bombing conservatives.

He did look good for awhile, rapid response and all. Lately, not so good. Weak sounding, like McCain.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Yesterday on FR I read a comment by someone who tried to be a delegate in the R party (I probably have the words not quite right). All I remember is dirty tricks played by Romney followers prevented him from taking part.

I loathe Romney with every fibre of my being. I hope for a revolution at the convention.
