Reporter Crushes Jay Carney Over Obama Tax Trick
Fox News ^ | 7/10/12 | staff

Yesterday’s WH Press briefing…

NORAH O’DONNELL: On that very point that it’s been the president’s position all along, in Dec. 2010, when he advocated an extension of all of the Bush tax cuts including those for the wealthiest Americans, he argued that raising taxes would be a “blow to our economy.” So what’s different now from then?

CARNEY: The president’s position has always been that we should permanently extend the tax cuts for middle-class Americans and that we should no longer extend the tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. At the time, from the question, there was a package of proposals that passed that helped the economy at a time it was very vulnerable that the president signed into law. What he made clear at the time was that he would not in the future support a measure that would extend tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. And it was a point made by independent economists and others at the time—and they’re making it again now—that when we’re talking about positive effects on the economy, it is tax cuts to middle-class Americans that produce that positive effect. It is not tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans, who tend not to spend that money as quickly or as readily as hard-working, middle-class Americans, and the cost of extending those tax cuts is $65 million—I’m talking about the high-end–$65 billion for one year, close to a trillion over ten, is prohibitive, we can’t afford it, and it does not work as a matter of macroeconomic policy. We’ve seen what happened in the period from 2001 to 2008. We saw the impact of those policy decisions—

Carney is married to Claire Shipman, another comely network ‘journalist.’ IIRC, both Norah and Claire worked with MSNBC during the Clinton sexcapades.

I was hoping someone would ask Jay Carney where he learned to speak Russian....

But Carney got away with... they’re ‘hedge fund managers’ - talk about red herrings - there are about a hundred hedge fund managers of any note in this country - you could fill the press room with them. That is why this is class warfare, they make up these boogie men as if there are millions of them and it turns out there is a handful of them that get all the attack press (and a sizeable number of those managers have given money to Obama). It is time to close the vise on the propaganda.

What about asking him - “do you think it makes sense that 47% of those Americans who don’t pay taxes, are promised all kinds of government services to be paid for by the 10% that pay most of the taxes? Do you think this is not vote-buying? A blatant political stunt? Do you think any rational person would not say ‘let the rich guy pay?’ if given the choice? Do you think it is responsible government if we continue to drop accountability and blame the rich for all our problems and vote for ways to take their wealth? Do you think that is good for the nation? Do you think class warfare is the answer?”

What about the bi-partisan Simpson-Bowles? Why does Obama ignore it? He lectures the Republicans on bi-partisanship then ignores a glorious piece of bi-partisan budget deficit work. Why is that?

Because he is all about politics, not good government. He is all about power and nothing about sharing.

Norah is not related to that NAZI Lawrence O’Donnell.

Carney was once stationed in Moscow as a reporter for Time magazine. His wife, Claire Shipman, was also in Russia as a CNN correspondent.

It was a valiant effort, but she missed the key question. Carney and his ilk love to quote the statistic that only a few percent of small business make over $250,000/year. The follow-up question should be:

"But aren't the small business with incomes over $250/k most likely to be the ones that create the most jobs, and have the most payroll?"

So close, but she didn't close the deal.

A certain percentage of the press cadre is in the Clintons’ back pocket. If annoying hardball questions become more frequent you’ll know that Operation Throw Barry Under The Bus has been put in motion.

In the wake of the announcement of $16 billion in unemployment fraud, I’m waiting for someone to ask the mouthpiece (since Obummer won’t meet the press)if this means that millions of people are “gaming the system”? And what do they plan to do about it?

Don't kid yourself: their bloodlust for 0bama will very quickly slake after Labor Day, when the Boobwazie begin to pay attention. At that point they will parade their occasional furtive thrusts at Jay Carney as evidence of their "impartiality" as they blow 0bama one kiss after another while savaging his opponent.

Brian Terry is dead. His boss could not even bestir himself to write a conciliatory note to his family until publicly humiliated into doing so. In the course of their testimony in the affair, both the AG and the Secretary of DHS clearly perjured themselves. Where are the difficult questions about that? Where are the difficult questions about any story that actually has legs?

The press is not being incisive by quibbling about semantic distinctions that even the majority opinion of the Supreme Court thoroughly muddled. The tax contained in the mandate is probably the least damaging financial consequence of 0bamacare. Where are the questions about that?

The reporters smell blood

Doubt it.

If Obama extended the Bush tax cuts on the rich, O'Donnell's response would be "why did you disenfranchise the poor?" or some other tripe.
