A move by the Obama administration to close nine Border Patrol stations over four states has spurred outrage from local officials, members of Congress even Border Patrol agents.
Though the affected stations are scattered throughout northern and central Texas, and three other states, critics say closing them will undercut anti-immigration efforts in busy areas north of the U.S.-Mexico border, Fox News reports.
The stations are being targeted for closure so U.S. Customs and Border Protection can reassign agents to busier areas closer to the border. One of the affected stations is in Riverside, Calif., just outside Los Angeles.
One Border Patrol supervisor in Texas, however, has asked local officers to voice your concerns to elected officials, since the closures would remove agents from the Texas Panhandle. Several members of Congress have asked Border Patrol Chief Michael Fisher to reconsider the plan.
It could impact us tremendously, since we've only got two agents up here now for 26 counties," Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas told Fox.
While his area is far from the border, Thomas called it a major corridor for illegal immigrants. His office depends on the Border Patrol for help.
I can't hold a carload of people out there on I-40 for eight hours while somebody comes from El Paso, Thomas told Fox. I mean, thats just crazy.

The time has come. States must take border control into their own hands. 0bama is erasing our borders, thus our sovereignty. This is just ONE example of how he’s doing it.
Obama has to get as many voters as possible into the midwest before the November elections.
Lawlessness is Barack Hussein Ubama's chief characteristic.
I say they do it anyways.
It sounds like Barry Soetoro is trying to make it easier for freeloading ‘RAT voters to sneak into OUR country for the “election”. We don’t want to be “disenfranchising” those Mexican Nationals now, do we? That might be “racial profiling” or some evil **** like that.
It is now that I truly believe Obama wants to crush this nation.
Yes, the usurper has no allegiance to the United States.
closing them will undercut anti-immigration efforts in busy areas north of the U.S.-Mexico border,
Hell yes, it will undercut anti-immigration efforts.
That’s why he is closing them. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to figure that out.
I mean no disrespect, and please do not take this wrong.
But What rock have you been hiding under.?
Obama has been working to destroy this country for almost4 years now, and you haven’t noticed until he closes a couple of Border Patrol stations?
This is nothing compared to what he has done to Arizona and their law enforcement officers, their Governor, and the State as a whole. It is nothing as compared to giving —YES GIVING arms to drug dealers, and killing a Border Patrol Agent.
Again I mean no disrespect, but you should have arisen out of your sleep a couple of years ago.
thanks Red Steel.
The ‘states’ that are willing to take this immigration fight head on at their own expense should open up “donation” websites looking for contributions from all Americans directly to their treasuries. Jumble the language of the “donation” like only a SCOTUS can do and call the donation a tax so we outside said fighting states can write it off on our taxes and let the fighting state stiff the federal government and the non-fighting states.
Will one of you clowns in Washington please bring charges up on this SOB and have him IMPEACHED.
This is terrible! Why is there a shortage of bean bags for the border patrol agents?
This Obamanation should not have to close border patrol stations due to a lack of been bag ammunition for the brave border patrol agents!
Bean bags should always be the first line of defense for Obamanation!
The more the illegal aliens, the more the bean bags!
BTW, AG Holder has put cooking instructions in each of the bean bags.
