Fr. Corapi's order finds him guilty

Robstown, Texas, Jul 5, 2011 / 03:13 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Father John Corapi’s religious order has found him guilty of substance abuse, sexual activity and violating his promise of poverty.

A July 5 press release from the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) said that while Fr. Corapi was involved in public ministry he had “sexual relations and years of cohabitation with a woman known to him, when the relationship began, as a prostitute.”

The investigative team also found that he “repeatedly abused alcohol and drugs,” “recently engaged in ‘sexting’ activity with one or more women in Montana,” and holds legal title “to over $1 million in real estate, numerous luxury vehicles, motorcycles, an ATV, a boat dock, and several motor boats.”

Wow. This is the first I have heard of any findings.

The date says 2011. Why is this being posted now?

Geeeze! I though he was going to become the 21st century Fulton Sheen! This is a great disappointment. He was a powerful preacher.

There are many very good priests out there. I am grateful for them. (And nuns too.)

He used to talk of his life as a hedonistic financial manager in Southern CA before he gave it up to enter the priesthood. He just couldn’t keep it together, so sad.

So true - very sad. I am not Catholic, but I always watched him on tv. It seems to me that the problem is with the Leadership in the Catholic Church (or any church) that lets problems fester for way too long, and then there’s nowhere to go but downhill. When you have a compelling story about your salvation by the Grace of Jesus, but your life in action is so worldly, are we saying that no one in authority knew any of this.

I used to listen to him on the radio with my headphones while mowing the lawn. He could make an hour go by lickety split.

This all looks like last year’s news. Father Corapi has closed down his web sites and hasn’t been heard from publicly since very early this year.

If you’re going to post year old news and attempt to pass it off as current why not also post Corapi’s lawsuit against his accuser - his former employee and God-daughter, Tamra Sexton-Sprinkle.

Check the source pal. CNA published this story on the 12th, probably because SOLT just recently released it in its entirety. It isn’t known how to post up a law suit on which there has been no public reporting.

I enjoyed listening as well.I thought He was a bomb thrower and a bit bull sh!t artist on His stories about the rock bands worshiping satin just prior to recording. But thats just my opinion and I’m not looking for a fight.

I am wondering if Father Corapi dropped the slander law suit by now, given he was surely notified of the findings, the hard evidence discovered in the face of the gag order agreements of witnesses to his own suit against them?

A sorrowful end to a powerful voice and gifted priest, who came out of hell to try to be good and truthful, but was pulled back under.

Father Corapi is easy to pray for, and shall remain in praying hearts for recovery, for a very long time.

This is very old news, and it is sad that the poster appears to be trying to pass it off as current.

To put this in context from a website that seems to have the best information:

It sounds to me as if there was a personnel issue at Santa Cruz Media which snowballed into an opportunity for Fr. Corapi's community to jealously take him out of ministry. The accuser Tamra Sexton-Sprinkle's Linked-In page now lists her as the owner of Santa Cruz Media which is now nothing more than a rather pathetic web development business. I think every one involved might have played an extortive game of "Mutually Assured Destruction" with the wrong priest.

The 12th of what? Today is only the 10th. Looks to me like it was published July 5, 2011.

I used to think that stuff was all BS until I saw an interveiw with Black Sabbath in which they admitted same. Seems like the bass player was right into it and the others seemed to follow along.

I could never watch Fr Corapi for more than a few seconds. His style of speaking struck me as very forced and unnatural. Always thought he was a fraud.

You are absolutely correct and I sit here with pink cheeks on fire with embarrassment, and egg on the way to apply to the face. I think I have experienced a senior moment of clinical proportion. Haven’t a clue how I deduced 2012 from a 2011 column. Don’t even ask about the imaginary 12th of never. Very sorry.

Sad, but I’m not surprised...a lot of his fans jumped on me when I said he was a fake...

I just hope that those he fooled don’t lose their faith over it. It’s his sin, not theirs:
