Professor: 'Jesus was a Muslim'
Campus Reform ^

Posted on 07/11/2012 2:32:01 PM PDT by oliverdarcy

The head of the religion department at Luther College in Iowa recently argued that Jesus Christ, the central figure of Christianity, was in fact, a Muslim.

“‘Was Jesus a Muslim?" asks Prof. Robert F. Shedinger in the beginning of a book he published this year entitled Was Jesus a Muslim? " I will answer with a very qualified yes."

In a recent interview Shedinger also defended his controversial thesis explaining that a Muslim undergraduate student had sent him on academic odyssey that culminated with him asking himself "Was Jesus a Muslim?"

"Even as a Christian I have to answer yes to that," said Shedinger, who is the head of the religion department at Luther College in Iowa.

Shedinger also argued that Islam is a better fit for Jesus since it is not a religion but a “social justice movement.”

Jesus was a member of a faith not established until 600 years after his death?

Sure, and Moses was a Christian, and Mohammed a Scientologist.

Interesting considering Islam came some 600+ years after Christ.

Yep - beating women, beheading his enemies, building an army to conquer the middle east, owning slaves, marrying little girls - Jesus did all of that. :)

No Martha, nothing is sacred any longer. Jesus was not a follower of Mohammed, but that won't stop them.

Jesus Heavenly Father was not of this earth. Jesus stated that His relationship with His Father, was the model for our relationship with Him.

I'm pretty sure Jesus would have mentioned Mohammad if he was 'in the loop', instead of just being looped.

It is becoming increasingly important that those professors holding real degrees (e.g., physics, math, chemistry, etc) must lobby for a different (very very different) title for those who have managed to obtain a doctorate in underwater basket weaving or a like “discipline” and who have fooled university facutly into actually paying them for doing something other than cleaning up after they soil themselves.

“social justice movement” - good. It never was a religion; it has always been a cult of hate. Now strip it of its “freedom of religion” rights and please put this guy in a rubber room where he can’t hurt himself.

One more compelling argument for the abolition of tenure.

And you wonder How America got So Screwed up with people like This being the role model other people PAYING for an education have to suck up to to earn their degree.

These are the people who produce the Morons that enact public policy throughout Every sector of our daily lives.

You need a college degree if you want a good, read secure, Government paycheck today, and this is what it’s worth.

That would be quite impossible. Like asking was the Paroah an astronaut.

Plus I know without being a professor in this area, the story of Mohammad and Islam diverges wildly from the story of Christ.

Simplest example: Christ said render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s. Mohammad WAS Ceasar.

Social justice movement? Oy.

Anyone who thinks Jesus was a Muslim must himself be a Muslim.

Muslims deny the divinity of Jesus.

If you believe that Jesus was a Muslim, you believe that He is no longer divine.

If you believe that Jesus is no longer divine, then you are no longer a Christian.

I believe that this doc is an idiot. And a Muslim. And a self-serving attention seeker.

Indeed. I remember hearing a Black Muslim co-worker telling her friends that Christianity was only 700 years old. :? Never mind the fact that our calendar was dated around 2,000 years after the coming of Christ.
