Florida Family Association Calling on Marvel to Pull X-Men Comic featuring same sex marriage
Right Wing Watch ^ | July 10 2012 | Brian Tashman

X-Men #51, issued by Marvel Comics last month, gained immediate attention as it centered on a wedding between Northstar and his boyfriend.

Northstar came out as gay in 1992, but for the anti-gay Florida Family Association, his marriage to his long-term boyfriend “has crossed the line by attempting to legitimize same-sex marriage and asking kids to fantasize about their own homosexual wedding.”

The group is urging members “who do not want their children targeted with immoral propaganda through comics” to email Marvel Comics to pull the X-Men #51.

Earlier, the American Family Association’s subgroup OneMilionMoms blasted Marvel for trying to “desensitize and brainwash” children with the comic and the Religious Right magazine Charisma wondered if “the rise of gay superheroes” is “just another example of the spirit of immorality waging war on young souls.”

"Marvel’s X-Men #51 comic issue has crossed the line by attempting to legitimize same-sex marriage and asking kids to fantasize about their own homosexual wedding."

"It is shameful that two companies like Marvel and Disney would deliberately create a superhero homosexual wedding for our children to embrace and mimic." said FFA.

The picture intended for viewing by millions of minor male children does slightly look like a recruitment poster.

I bought X-men #1 and have loved them since.

When did this become necessary?

I publish, therefore I promote...

I like talking about engineering, family, sports, politics, religion, etc...

Faggots only talk about being faggots. It defines them.

I guess Marvel Comics expects the perverted 3% of our population to support their company?

Homosexuals promote their own.

The head of Disney is a gay man. One of the top editors at DC I think was a gay man.

Marvel turned Rawhide Kid into a gay man in retrocontinuity a few years back.

X-Men has become an allegory for “being born different” and coming out to your parents since the first movie.

The mutants in the movie engage in identity theft, invasion of privacy (thoughts), and other human rights violations but they are “entitled to” because those wanting to register/identify mutants are “evil” (not evil like Magneto, EVIL like McCarthy).

No wonder a man like Steve Ditko left Marvel’s warped politics behind decades ago.

Well, I believe it pays to know what is going on out there with the SSM agenda, and how it will effect the general culture : In this case, many preteen boys.

Right - how did it become good business for every conceivable kind of venue and corporation to promote same sex marriage? I realize there are gays who work as producers , etc. but I had not imagined this agenda would creep into every nook and cranny of the culture and business world. I am sore amazed at what I am reading and finding out as of late.

Look - I don’t agree with Marvel here and I have stopped adding to my 20k comic collection the last 5 years as both major publishers have been pushing PC hard. For me that’s a personal burden as it is my escape - I deal by picking up missing older issues and reading more novels/history.

That being said - the X-men concept is not about ‘Evil like McCarthy’ only. It is also about Evil Like Hitler aka those who are out to exterminate mutants out of fear and misunderstanding. Yes there is also the evil like magneto who wants to punish those who will otherwise hunt down the mutants, and the evil like mccarthy attempt at painting people who are unable to ‘accept’ differences (the liberal’s would say racist - though in this case it would be a ‘geneticist’?). There are significant stories in the series that use the parallel of what was done to the Jewish people in WWII, and many are quite excellent.

I’ll give you that I’m ticked at the ‘in your face’ that is being done by these guys. It’s no different then when the sitcom Soap first brought the issue out as a character in the late 70s(timing?).

Kids aren’t stupid they know when they are being sold a box of rocks - I can’t tell you how many of them have told me at stores and cons that they were ticked about the Superman thing a few years back. I turn them to the older issues (I especially promote the old 50 cent 100 page DCs as they have 40, 50, 60, and 70s stories in them). Some of the older issues can be picked up for the same price as many new ones. If I ever start filling gaps that are more recent it’ll be out of the $1 bin because I refuse to give them a profit as long as they continue to try substituting PC and art for story.

K I’ll climb off my box and shut up now. Just an area I know something about so I had to voice my piece. By the way if your looking for real story, art, and history combined that won a pulitzer when it still meant something try Maus.

I know about Maus and have met Art Spiegelman.

And I am familiar with the original Kirby/Lee X-Men and the modern movies and this graphic novel from the 80s.

The modern mythos makes it clear that politicians (certainly not liberal) are the problem. And tries to claim that the fear is ungrounded.

Anyone morphing to misrepresent someone else or reading their brainwaves IS a threat. And some like the Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants ARE BLOODY WELL EVIL.
