When Mitt Romney arrives Thursday at the gates of Teton Pines, a majestic Wyoming country club where captains of industry flock each summer to golf on an Arnold Palmer-designed course, his purpose will be greater than spending another evening separating rich people from their money.

The presidential candidate will be taking a big step toward becoming the official head of the Republican Party, as he is feted at the club and then at a $30,000-a-couple dinner at the nearby home of Richard B. Cheney, the living thread connecting the past five GOP presidencies.

By hosting the fundraiser, the former vice president — who in his retirement remains a powerful leader of foreign policy neoconservatives yet a deeply polarizing figure outside of the Republican base — will make his grandest gesture to pass a torch to Romney........"

Democrats could pound him on the head for that much of an asking price.

maybe that’s why he invited Mitt.. to do the jobs voters in the primary wouldn’t. take Mitt out.. uhh hunting.. that is.

and just as Obama failed to show up at the NaaCP convention, he wisely turned Dick’s personal hunting invite down too. ;-]

This should put the Democrats tails between their legs and they will turn around in circles like a happy dog.

Oh, no! Unlike Conservatives, the Dems will trash the Tetons.

I sortof thought the same thing. Wyoming is the promise land of extreme wilderness and the last thing I think of is hanging around with guys in polo shirts on a turf.

It would never happen for many reasons, but could you imagine the velocity of the flying skull fragments if Cheney was named Milt’s VP?

Yeah. I have a suspicion that barn has been photoraphed a lot.

My old boss was thinking of using something like it for his cabinet shop.

I’m just trying to keep myself entertained tonite. Something I just don’t do anymore. Don’t seem to laugh much now a days. Too much to do. Too much exhaustion. Too much pain.

They haven’t chosen their next convo site yet, and it won’t be Wyoming when they do.

I don't think of V.P. Cheney as a “polarizing figure”.

He is more like a pissed off Polar Bear, with a Shotgun.

Anybody got that picture of Cheney looking at Obama at the Inauguration? He knew, indeed he knew.

Loved that picture of Cheney's steely look at oboma, as oboma was embracing Bush in a greeting. Bush was embracing oboma, and oboma was looking over Bush's shoulder, and directly into the eyes of a glaring, knowing Cheney. Priceless. Cheney knows.

Many of the Obama events are much higher costs to attendees.
