A Washington County homeowner took matters into his own hands when a burglar broke into his garage and two vehicles Thursday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
There's a sign at the edge of the property that says Warning: Our citizens are armed, and this is a real good example," said Ryan Hord.
Hords wife, Mindy, called 911 when the incident occurred.
I woke up this morning to get my son his milk and I look outside and there's a black guy outside without his shirt on...so I ran inside and woke my husband up," said Mindy Hord in a 911 call to the Washington County Sheriffs Office.
Ryan Hord grabbed his gun and went after the burglar. Hord detained the burglar in the driveway until sheriff's deputies arrived.
My husband has a gun on him, right. He's not going anywhere until someone comes and picks him up, said Mindy Hord to a 911 operator.
Sheriffs deputies took the burglar into custody. The suspect has been charged with burglary of a habitation and burglary of a motor vehicle.
No sainthood for this burglar.
It's a good thing he did. With the wife describing him as "a black guy outside without his shirt on", it would have been a hate crime to shoot the criminal, even in self-defense if the thug had made a grab for the gun. I hope Texas has the good sense to lock the burglar up for a very long time. They need to make sure crime doesn't pay, so their criminals will move to California where parasites belong.
Hmmf. In Massachusetts, the burglar need only to turn and walk away...or run. If he is shot by the homeowner, then the homeowner is going to jail and will never be able to legally own a gun again. Simply because his life was not in danger. The bad guys know this and they take full advantage.
Then they should have a better story. Why, yes, Officer, he came at me saying he'd kill me, rape my wife and eat my dog so I was scared for my family.
I guess his hoodie was in the dirty clothes basket......
He should have told the cops the guy said he was on 'bath salts' and was going to eat his family's faces.
These days its either hoodies or no shirt.
By disclosing the race of the perp, Mrs. Hord may be charged with a “hate crime”. I could actually see this happening.
Naaaa, its TEXAS. Stone legal! The perp is lucky he didn’t get ventilated.
Be very careful around shirtless or worse, naked perps.
It used to be diagnostic that if they were naked and covered with sweat, there was a good possibility that they were on PCP. Extremely dangerous to try and detain, as they can be as strong as an ox. Even a good quality Taser is “iffy”.
For a while at least, I believe the LAPD had an unwritten policy that “If you think they are on PCP, put a round through them and see what happens. Little or no response, and keep shooting.” This was because they figured out that it was taking an average of 5 cops to take down one such, with two or three of them getting at least a little injured in the process. Bullets are a lot cheaper.
Exactly as I have planned it. When the police find the perp on my kitchen floor...perforated and room temperature...he'll be holding a large lock blade knife and I will be very distraught over the attempt on my life. "I am having trouble breathing officer. And I am diabetic. Please get me to the hospital immediately."
That orta do it.
