Women in the infantry? Forget about it, says female Marine officer

Come September, a small group of young female Marines will break through one of the last bastions of macho in the U.S. military. They’ll be the first class of female officers to take part in the grueling Infantry Officer Course in Quantico, Va., a test of both physical fitness and mental will that prepares the corps’ future platoon leaders.

All of these women will be volunteers, and their training will be closely watched. The new coed class has sparked suggestions that such training could lead to integrating women in the Marine infantry, with some saying they “would make excellent grunts.”

We haven't evolved far enough yet!!!!

...At 18-25 U cant put a women in a fox hole with me and think i wont notice....

I watched 2 great helicopter pilots seriously fight over a 250 lb Donut Dolly and others squabble over hooch maids...I still have a pic of a woogie3 just after he bit Kris Noel on the ass as she got aboard Christmas morning '68...and to be honest.. i was in a few stupid scrapes myself... Give us guys another 100 yrs.....then maybe. WHB!..(RVN 67-8-9)

WELL SAID! with one exception...if it had been 1 guy that hung back and stayed in the humv...he would have no medal and would have prolly committed suicide by now..

The Corps has long-since passed the tipping point...A decade or so of co-ed basic training
You don't have a feckin' clue what you're talking about. The Marine Corps has NEVER had co-ed basic training.
