FYI: ICE checkpoint in NH
Self | 7/12/2012 | Self

My wife and I were just stopped in I-93 in north-central NH by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents. All cars were stopped, and the officer stuck his head in my window, much as they do at DUI checkpoints. He then looked around the car, and asked us if we were US citizens. We answered in the affirmative and he then asked for our ID's. What has happened to this country when we can be harassed by ICE but the actual illegal immigrants cannot?

It is called security theater: The same reason the TSA pats down nuns, makes a crippled boy give up his leg braces before passing through the metal detector and makes an elderly woman remove her briefs. But if you are the right kind of Muslim, you can pass through in a bur-qua.

There is a need to teach the uppity American people that they are subjects and not citizens.

Though typically, federal officers cannot demand identity papers, there is a bizarre twist, here.

In a US Customs jurisdictional area, many US civil rights are suspended. The weirdness is that these jurisdictional areas are *not* just the border stations, but can extend 50 miles(?) inland from any US border.

This gives ICE the authority to set up checkpoints and demand ID cards even though you haven’t crossed the border. Just that you are within 50(?) miles from it.

Most recently this came to light when there was an effort to outlaw many types of folding and switchblade knives, “within the jurisdiction of the US Customs and Border Patrol”.

They weren’t able to sneak this past the “knife rights” people who came down on this like a ton of bricks.

They’re just conditioning us to internal checkpoints just like the Soviets. Pretty soon, we’ll have to have internal passports to move around or relocate.

Wouldn’t be a bad idea if we could count on it keeping liberals from the left coast or the NE out.

But, somehow, I think they’ll look at a county like ours, that is 95% white, and relocate minorities in here to ‘balance things out’.

As motivated by that viral video from AZ....

“I’m on about my business and Obama doesn’t have the time or resources to staff the Mexican border, to protect against illegal entry.”
“So, why are you here in the heartland, harassing people without probable cause?”

They can do this in NH (far from Mexico), but they can’t in AZ? It must be zero’s people trying to show the American sheeple “what it’s like”, just to get them riled up against ID checks.

They were signing up illegals for Medicaid and food stamps.

Of course, what Reagan SHOULD have done was to ELIMINATE the Department of Education altogether and get the FedGov OUT of the government schools.

And that was an unkept promise that he made. Remember though, Reagan had a heavily Dem House, and many more RINOs in the Senate (partly offset by Boll Weevil Democrats, that have since gone extinct, Zell Miller being the last one).

Think of the '80s Senate : Lowell Weicker, Bob Packwood, Pete Wilson, Frank Murkowski, Paula Hawkins, Warren Rudman, John Warner, Alan Simpson, Nancy Kassebaum, etc.

In context, Dick Lugar looked like the Rock of Gibraltar.

A veritable barf-o-rama.

But couldn’t Reagan have eliminated the cabinet department without Congress? After all, “the cabinet” is not constitutionally defined or required, right?

If something is not done soon it will be irreversible.

Every day another law another regulation (especially from the EPA) and we keep bending over a little more.

There are even some Freepers who see no problem with these internal checkpoints.

We should be very vigilant especially when we give any LEO power over us. History proves government power and intrusion ALWAYS increases. Sometimes the people get fed up and revolt. Unfortunately most times they just baaaah at each other and wait to be sheered.

It doesn’t take the newbie BP agents long to discover that VT has no gun laws to speak of; once they learn everybody’s armed up in the Northeast Kingdom, they tend to stop acting like asshats with a badge.

Since when do you have to prove your an American? There was a youtube with one of these stops posted just a couple days ago on FR. The guy was stopped like three times one day and told them politely that he didn’t have to show his papers. Each time they hassled him but eventually let him go on his way.

There was a thread on FR back around March (?) discussing a government order for bullet proof checkpoint booths. Looks like the order came through and they’re trying them out. Expect more of these and it won’t be ICE manning them.

I moved from maryland ( THE Freak state) a few months ago. In montgomery county they give the "less fortunate" chits for rent. The idea is to move the "less fortunate" to good neighborhoods full of employed, hard-workers with good values. Guess what? "Unexpectably", the neighborhoods deteriorated. The "chitters" and their chillun are hanging out, creating noise, schools have more disruptive kids and the crime rate rises. Who woulda thunk?????????????????????????????????? Shazaam!

Yes...when close to the District. Also, when there are majority libs. Good luck. I lived in MD for thirty years. They tax anything that moves and doesn’t. When we sold our house (Thank God) we had to pay a 3 1/2 percent state “transfer tax” on the sale price. Kind of like having to pay a government fee to leave a carribean island. The approximately $20,000 the state extorted from me was worth it. I got to leave that liberal moonbat hellhole. Utah is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.

Nah, we’re in Odenton—I’ll be stationed at Fort Meade. We’re just renting. We were considering buying, but it sounds like it’s more trouble than it’s worth, especially if we wanted to sell.
