The Titanic of Talk Radio?

Has an iceberg named Limbaugh already started to sink the Huckabee show?

Whatever happened to Mike Huckabee?

OK.

I confess, I never got the idea from the get go.

A political idea that is a regular loser in the political marketplace was being marketed as a sure-fire winner in talk radio. And marketed is an understatement about all of the hype that swirled around this particular radio launch.

To put names to this curious fantasy, the moderate Republican former Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee, was to take on Rush Limbaugh in a venture sponsored by the public company that is Cumulus Media.

Not since the Titanic sailed a hundred years ago amidst a public relations blowout about the ship's un-sinkability has there been such hype.

Uh-oh.

Let's remind of all the pre-launch hoopla for this venture that at the time we tagged as "RINO Radio" -- talk radio for Republicans in Name Only.

• On March 12, Media Matters reported on a media conference call by Cumulus, gloating in a headline: "Cumulus CEO: Limbaugh Firestorm 'Very Helpful' To New Huckabee Show" -- the "firestorm" in question a reference to the kerfuffle over Sandra Fluke.

• On March 12, the Daily Beast's favorite RINO David Frum gushed on hearing the news that "Mike Huckabee Brings on Rush Limbaugh's Decline."

• On March 13, over on the web pages of Radio Ink, the headlined story read that in the wake of the Fluke kerfuffle, Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey "has been touting the [Huckabee] show as a replacement for Rush…"

• On March 18, Newsmax headlined: "Huckabee Readies to take on Rush in Talk Radio Battle." This story was remarkably up front about the idea behind the Huckabee/Cumulus venture. It began this way:

You nailed it, nice guy but an intellectual light weight. He has shown himself to be more a RINO than a conservative.

I can’t find the exact quote, but here’s a reference to the speech itself:

Oh good grief, grow up.
Romney put his dog in a kennel on top of the car - disgusting.
BHO ate dog - disgusting.
Romney's liberalism is worse than the dog incident.
You want to support Romney be my guest, I do not support liberals.

Sometimes politicians are unfortunate enough to have a photo lying around or a bad moment that is embarrassing enough to ensure they will never be elected president.

We all remember how the Dukakis campaign died with that photo of him riding a tank in a helmet three sizes too large with his name in masking tape stuck to it. It was like his mother was sending him to summer camp.

Then more recently you have Howard Dean throwing that nutty after his third place finish in Iowa.

Just a few months ago, we saw the Rick Perry campaign implode when he could not list the three agencies of government he promised to eliminate in a debate setting. Now the Perry campaign was on the ropes to begin with but that awful debate moment sealed his fate.

Well for Huckabee, it is the infamous "barber shop quartet" family photo that will make it utterly impossible for him to ever become president. I wonder if Mitt Romney hired the photographer!

I will type this realllllly slow.
This has become your issue.
I do not support liberals - period.
Romney put his dog in a kennel strapped it to the top of his car for twelve hours, if yo do not have a problem with this, it is on you not me.
If you have chosen to support a liberal, be my guest.
toot-a-loo

Thank you for typing slowly, ‘cause I’m really stoopid. I’m sooooo stoopid that I would rather have Mitt Romney than Barack Obama as President. I could not care less about some stupid dog in a pet carrier. I’m willing to bet the dog lived a long and happy life, unlike the dogs Barack Obama ate. It’s too hot to try any make sense to a contentious old woman who is sooooo smart that she wants to help Obama get re-elected, while claiming she does not support liberals.

And the phrase you’re searching for is “toodle-oo”, not “toot-a-loo”.

Thank you for finally admitting it.
Just so you can sleep well tonight, I live in California and BHO has already bought this state so I get to vote for real conservatives.
So you go right ahead not caring about animals (actually that makes sense) and voting for liberals, I do not care because there is nothing I can do about your mindset.

I’m a farmer. I know more about caring for animals than you can ever pretend to. If you want to waste your vote on some fringe candidate to help Obama, that’s on you. We’re done here; go yell at your poor husband.

Hum?
Didya get the part about me living in California, where BHO has already won the state?
That means I can vote for whoever I want, it wont matter.
I don’t yell at my husband, I respect him to much, now you on the other hand........
toot-a-loo

Not a nice guy, but a statist prick. A former fatty who has decided everybody should diet and a former smoker turned nico-nazi. I wish the puke would lose his tv show too.
