The report which Penn State commissioned regarding the Jerry Sandusky scandal has been released. The findings of the commission, chaired by former FBI Director Louie Freeh, are a scathing indictment of the processes and procedures used by Penn State to deal with the allegations of sexual molestation by a football coach.
Little is revealed in the report which was not already generally known, but the tone and breadth of the reporting was startlingly harsh. No one is immune from criticism ranging from the president of the university all the way down to a janitor who witnessed an episode of sexual molestation and did nothing to stop it or report it. Particular emphasis of wrong-doing is laid at the feet (or, more properly, the headstone) of Coach Joe Paterno, the coaching legend who built the Penn State football program on the model of his 'Grand Experiment' in an effort to show that high quality academics and a high quality football program could co-exist.
The primary culprit of this entire episode, according to the report, was a reluctance to directly deal with the issues for fear of tarnishing the reputation of either the University or its football program. The power of the football program is seen as the motivating factor to coverup any wrongdoing.
But is that the whole story?
No; however, you will not see a word published about the other cause of the coverup. It is a cause which finds its root in the encapsulated, isolated, ivory tower world of a state-run university. It is a cause which is reinforced on a daily basis by the university, its administration, faculty, and students. The culprit is 'tolerance'.
Unless you have lived the experience, it is difficult to understand the powerful cultural pressure that a liberal university exerts on a university community. Every bulletin board of every dorm, office building, classroom, and meeting place is filled with posters that blare the message of tolerance and acceptance. "Tolerate, don't hate". "Accept, don't judge". These messages may seem harmless and trite to an outsider, but within the university community, they are powerful reminders that going against the stated policy of the university will result in a mandatory "sensitivity training". Stated policy, you ask?
Yes. Penn State, as do many other universities, houses a LGBTA Resource Center as a part of their Student Affairs division. On campus. With funding from the university. Is that official enough for you?
It is the natural condition to report wrongdoing, to correct a wrong, or stop an assault. But what if doing so results in the messenger being reprimanded? What if reporting what you see as wrong would result in you being accused of not being tolerant? What if you are a 65 year-old janitor who has worked within this environment for 30 years, and you are set to retire in 6 months? Do you jeopardize your pension or turn a blind eye? If you are a Graduate Assistant coach, do you stop the incident and risk losing your path to full-time coaching? Or do you wait, go home and consult with others before deciding to report after-the-fact?
When the president of the university is known for his support of the gay and lesbian agenda, it is easier to understand why reporting homosexual activity might not fall under the heading of 'tolerance'.
So when your friends begin to talk about a football program that has too much power over a university, ask them to put themselves in the position of someone who has been immersed in the culture of tolerance and acceptance. Ask if they would be ready to report violations under threat of losing their jobs. When the theory of tolerance meets the reality of abuse, it gets ugly.

I’m thinking that all of my friends would report the anal rape of a child to the police, even if it would risk losing a job.
I think this view is well worth considering.
It is making normalcy deviant and deviancy normal. At one time, the 97% or so of the population which was heterosexual was naturally disgusted by the activities of the 2 or 3%.
Former President Graham Spanier and his wife were among the chief architects in making Penn State a deviant friendly campus. So much so that speaking out against their vile lifestyles was considered hateful and politically incorrect even when it involved innocent children.
This isn't to excuse the people who failed to speak out, but to shine a spotlight on the culture of fear of speaking out which the homo agenda involves. In their quest to be tolerant to perverts, they embraced the intolerance which perverts impose on normal human behavior.
In their quest to make unnatural acts natural, they suppressed the natural voices which might have stopped this crap.

When it was revealed that Fawn Hall (I think that was her name) collaborated to steal federal documents at the request of her boss, I remember a relative sneering at me that I obviously hadn’t considered what would happen to her if she declined to do so (i.e., she’d lose her job). I remember being shocked that THIS was the issue my relative found most compelling, not betraying one’s country but losing one’s job. Stunned, I replied “Well if it comes down to betraying your country or losing your job, you LOSE YOUR JOB.” I was dismissed as naive etc.
Same thing with child rape - too bad you lose your job but don’t you want to be able to face yourself in a mirror the rest of your life? It’s shocking that this question is considered a ‘show stopper’ or ‘wake up call’ by those who defend inaction.

I have seen a white speaker give a speech condemning the evils of white privilege to an audience that was 99% white, and when it was over they stood and applauded.
I have watched the president of a college receive a standing ovation for bragging about enrolling illegal aliens.
I have listened to a black female professor give the most incoherent, nonsensical 45 minute lecture to a group of fellow professors, and they stood and applauded her absolute ignorance as if it were some sort great insight or revelation.
After 23 years in higher education I can say that political correctness is the driving force behind most of what goes on. In that world the truth has been replaced by intentional ignorance and utter fantasy. The less you think the easier it will be for someone to succeed and get along in that environment.

BINGO! You have precisely described the conditions at Penn State, as well as other institutions today, and yes, Spanier and his wife, PC deviants, took Penn State down this road to ruin...and they both, as tenured professors, remain on the Penn State payroll. Spanier needs to be charged along with the others already charged, and his and his wife’s connection to Penn State needs to be totally severed. Spanier needs to be incarcerated and black-listed for the terrible blight he has put on Penn State.
At the same time, a heterosexual student was expelled from the school for writing the word "fag" on his friend's whiteboard, even though the friend wasn't gay or offended.
Somebody saw the word and found his sensibilities assaulted, which the university just would not tolerate.

Political correctness is a deceiptful system of thought and expression that hides sexual perversion and diversity racism and it’s terrible reality and consequences on individuals, families and society. Children, because they are the most vulnerable to abuse, suffer the most.

I might have gotten my ass whipped that night, and I might have been charged with assault, and I might have lost my job. Sandusky would have been interrupted though
It begs the question, do perverts gravitate towards sports as recruiting grounds? They sure are pissed that the BSA forbids them, but no college or high school bans as far as I know (until they’re caught).
