Smoking Banned Inside Santa Monica, California, Residences

Tuesday night the city council sought to expand that prohibition and voted 4-2 to ban smoking for all new tenants of apartments and condos inside their residences - with one exception.

"I really don't think they should be telling people what to do if they are paying for the place they're living in," Jones said.

Other cities have taken similar measures. Pasadena will make all apartments, condos and townhouses smoke-free by 2013 - a move Santa Monica is also looking into.

I used to work in that burg....even the lefty (vast majority) locals refer to Santa Monica as “The Peoples’ Republic of Santa Monica”.

I wonder how they would feel if thay banned homosexual acts in ones own apartment.

Why is it right to tell a cigarette smoker he cannot smoke. but its ok to smoke a pole.

Give Bloomberg time, just give him time. There are a lot more condos and apts in NYC than in Santa Monica.

and men are no longer permitted to pee on the ground in the woods, no spitting allowed on any government owned property, passing gas is prohibited unless special permission has been granted, and being in the nude in the presence of a person of the opposite sex will not be tolerated......so there!
