Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the last GOP running mate, predicted former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would make a wonderful vice president for Mitt Romney.
I think that Condoleezza Rice would be a wonderful vice president, and she certainly has much more experience than our sitting president does today, Palin said Thursday night on Fox Newss On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.

The problem with Condi is that it makes it Obama vs Bush...Condi will be grilled over her role in the leadup to the Iraq War, it’s going to open up a can of worms that was best left alone.
I hthought Sarah was pro-life.
endorsed John McCain,
endorsed Orrin Hatch,
endorsing Condi Rice.
....TRUE COLORS shining through.
Go back under your rock, Sarah. Your opportunity has passed you by.
At the same time, it brings the ticket even further from conservative values.
I’m liking this Condoleezza Rice feeler.
Plagiarizing ME from earlier:
We dont need a female John Roberts in the WH to stab us in the back, TOO!
I like Condi and I thinks shes totally qualified, but I dont fee like she can be trusted..
Shes super qualified, but I dont think shes solidly in the Conservative camp. I never have felt she was.
Its just a visceral feeling I have in my gut that minority candidates (any minority) have to strive twice as hard and demonstrate twice as commitment, if they want to pass for Conservatives.
There are way too many temptations for them to make their career by yanking a rabbit out of a hat and shocking everyone with some last minute and wholly unexpected about-face!!!
As a prime example, Powell has tap-danced around like this for decades, to the point where he has made himself totally irrelevant and can be believed and trusted by NO ONE.
The massive political capital he COULD have accumulated was squandered by his perpetual and selfish insistence on riding the fence
Yeah, Sarah? Do you realize that Condi is pro-abortion?
I wonder if Condi really wants her private life and dating history open to inspection. She was dating some married football player a number of years ago.
I have no idea if thats a real sentiment or just a chance to take a jab at the Kenyan.
Not as big a thing, as for the President.
We don’t elect a VP. We just go along with the President on that issue, hoping upon hope, we will not need him.
Condoleezza Rice is a big, big name.
I am all for Rice.
Is the fix being put in place?
Stay Calm everyone. Sarah is not going to bring up the short falls of Condi because she is NOT going to be the Veep Choice. So Sarah doesn’t have to be in the trap of not supporting a women. Plus her comment that Condi is more qualified than the sitting President is a classic Sarah zinger.
I have told people all along...it will be a minority or a woman....this probably is a trial balloon.....
“The problem with Condi is that it makes it Obama vs Bush...Condi will be grilled over her role in the leadup to the Iraq War, its going to open up a can of worms that was best left alone.”
This is exactly why there can be no Rice-A-Romney. I really hope that Romney is smart enough to see this. I know the GOPe are stupid enough to choose Rice. Let’s hope Romney just floated the name out there to gauge the reaction. I like Sarah a lot, but I’m not sure what she’s thinking. You do not want to arm Bozo with the ability to drudge (pun intended) up Bush and the whole Iraq War thing again.
This is exactly why there can be no Rice-A-Romney. I really hope that Romney is smart enough to see this. I know the GOPe are stupid enough to choose Rice. Let
I’m inclined to agree, it would be stupid to bring anyone associated with the Bush Administration into the picture, it just opens up all of those wounds again, and it is a guaranteed loser. Hopefully it was nothing more than a trial balloon....as they say, “Go in as a Pope, come out as a Cardinal.”
I am starting to think that “Sarah” is not NEARLY as smart as we were led to beleive she was/is.
Voting for obama is an automatic disqualification!
I disagree with Palin on this.
I agree with you too. Romney needs to consider a women, this has been a media play starting with Ann Romney’s comments. Condi is perfect media play because she is single. Just wait, stories will come out that she turned the VEEP spot down.
Watch the video. Sarah is definitely not enthusiastic about Rice. She then followed up that the team should be PRO LIFE.
If you read here bio...it seemed that way
Anyway we have no say...just like the primary
“The problem with Condi is that it makes it Obama vs Bush...Condi will be grilled over her role in the leadup to the Iraq War, its going to open up a can of worms that was best left alone.’
The lead up to the war and the war has resulted in a safe America, and that war was a price we had to pay. Obama has followed those policies. This would not be a negative to argue.
While you may very well be right, that view is in the minority today.
Her neocon faith trumps little things like that.
Or it will be Brian Sandoval, elected Governor of Nevada. He was appointed United States District Judge for the District of Nevada by President George W. Bush in October 2005, becoming the state's first Hispanic federal judge.
is condi rice married?
Sure Romney personally promised he’d pick a pro-life VP but hey? What are the pro-lifers going to do? Vote for Obama?
This is their answer every time they stick a finger in the conservatives’ eyes.
[SLAP!] Hey, don’t get mad, we have to stick together to defeat Obama.
[SLAP SLAP SLAP!!!]
Only if people let them. And there is nothing wrong with the Bush record anyway.
How many terrorist attacks did we have after 911?
Why do people here want to throw him under the bus?
But a candidate needs to answer one question truthfully: will the candidate do the will of the people even if it differs from the candidate's personal "feelings" or opinions? Romney, for instance, has a progressive streak a mile wide, but I believe he is willing to set it aside for the good of the country. Can Condi do the same? Sarah seems to think so. Can the other potential VP choices? That is the real issue.
“Romney is a racist for picking Rice.”
“Romney is a sexist for picking a woman”
“Romney is desperate”
“Republicans would never allow her to be the nominee for President”
“Rice is stupid anyway and a sell out to her race”
Actually, I think they already used that one.
“Rice is Bush in a skirt”
“Rice has no experience”
“Rice is a felon too”
Beg to differ. It is safe to praise Professor Rice as an excellent choice for VP in the certain knowledge that there is a snow ball’s chance in Hell that she would accept the offer if it came. The lady has been as explicit as humanly possible in saying no way, no how, ain’t interested (in running for any elective office). If Sarah had given any answer but the one she provided it would be portrayed by the scum media as a cat fight. She handled it deftly and managed, as usual, to stick a blade into Obama while doing so.
CONDI , CONDI, CONDI !!
These are serious times, and we need people who can handle the pressure. And Condi can handle it.
And, nothing but the truth!
where is she in the anti-2nd amendment UN treaty?
where is she on the federal marriage amendment?
where is she on lower taxes?
where is she on closing the borders?
where is she on illegal immigration? deportations?
is she a supporter of the Dream Act Amnesty?
ALLEN WEST !!
ALLEN WEST !!
Gee whiz, it was just Palin being her typical self, being generically upbeat and positive about a fellow Republican... and then using this as a springboard to slam Obama. A few moments later she made it pretty clear she strongly wanted a pro-life ticket.
Condi is not much more than a female Colin Powell and she gives Palestinians way too much leeway in negotiations.
It would be a brilliant move. It would gather Romney enough black and women voters to offset the conservatives like me that would rather vote third party than for him.
“Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the last GOP running mate, predicted former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would make a wonderful vice president for Mitt Romney.”
Mrs. Palin: please present concrete evidence to back up your statement. A general “rah, rah” is insufficient for conservatives who have been burnt way too many times.
Sarah Palin is being diplomatic here and trying not to cause fissure in the GOP at this point in the campaign.
Condoleezza Rice is a diplomat, not a politician. As a diplomat she is more dedicated to compromise rather than conservative problem-solving.
If Romney picks her, this could be Dole / Kemp, the sequel.
Moderator: Gov. Romney, will the person you chose as your vice presidential running mate be someone who shares your pro-life and pro-marriage convictions?
Romney: I certainly imagine so, I havent made and selections in that regard [as I look around at the people I would consider] I would expect that they would all be pro-life and pro-traditional marriage but this is an important enough issue that the person that I would select in that position would share my views on those important issues.
The VP will likely be Susana Martinez...
Or it will be Brian Sandoval
I have no idea who the VP will be but I do believe it won’t be Rice.
There are always floating of names much of which I believe is to
keep things in a turmoil while the decision is being made.
Heck remember 2008 and McCain’s rumored VP picks which included:
Crist, Ridge, Jindal, Sanford, Romney, Huckabee, etc before he finally
“Shes super qualified, but I dont think shes solidly in the Conservative camp. I never have felt she was.”
“Its just a visceral feeling I have in my gut that minority candidates (any minority) have to strive twice as hard and demonstrate twice as commitment, if they want to pass for Conservatives.”
What ARE her qualifications? I think you’re putting the cart before the horse. The first choice is conservative! Everything else is an accessory (like a pair of gloves). If he picks her it will be viewed as shameless pandering.
As opposed to the spastic, mindless, knee jerk reactions to all things Condi Rice and many things Sarah Palin.
Wasn’t Mitt going to be at a fundraiser last night at Dick Cheney’s Wyoming compound? I think Cheney would share his feelings with Mitt about this Condi for VP balloon.
She’s a strong woman who will stand up to anyone, and she is incredibly smart, I think. As to her conservative bona fides, I’m not at all confident she is a conservative.
I hope this is just a balloon to pucker the faces of the MSM. We have plenty of strong, intelligent, well spoken conservatives, male, female, white, black, brown... to choose from.
