Sarah Palin: Condoleezza Rice would be ‘wonderful’
Politico ^ | 7/13/12 6:59 AM EDT | KEVIN ROBILLARD

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the last GOP running mate, predicted former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would make a “wonderful” vice president for Mitt Romney.

“I think that Condoleezza Rice would be a wonderful vice president, and she certainly has much more experience than our sitting president does today,” Palin said Thursday night on Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”

The problem with Condi is that it makes it Obama vs Bush...Condi will be grilled over her role in the leadup to the Iraq War, it’s going to open up a can of worms that was best left alone.

Plagiarizing ME from earlier:

We don’t need a female ‘John Roberts’ in the WH to stab us in the back, TOO!

I like Condi and I thinks she’s totally qualified, but I don’t fee like she can be trusted..

ALSO…

She’s super qualified, but I don’t think she’s solidly in the Conservative camp. I never have felt she was.

It’s just a visceral feeling I have in my gut that minority candidates (any minority) have to strive twice as hard and demonstrate twice as commitment, if they want to pass for Conservatives.

There are way too many temptations for them to ‘make their career’ by yanking a rabbit out of a hat and shocking everyone with some last minute and wholly unexpected ‘about-face’!!!

As a prime example, Powell has tap-danced around like this for decades, to the point where he has made himself totally irrelevant and can be believed and trusted by NO ONE.

The massive political capital he COULD have accumulated was squandered by his perpetual and selfish insistence on riding the fence

Yeah, Sarah? Do you realize that Condi is pro-abortion?

I wonder if Condi really wants her private life and dating history open to inspection. She was dating some married football player a number of years ago.

Not as big a thing, as for the President.

We don’t elect a VP. We just go along with the President on that issue, hoping upon hope, we will not need him.

(or her)

Condoleezza Rice is a big, big name.

I am all for Rice.

Stay Calm everyone. Sarah is not going to bring up the short falls of Condi because she is NOT going to be the Veep Choice. So Sarah doesn’t have to be in the trap of not supporting a women. Plus her comment that Condi is more qualified than the sitting President is a classic Sarah zinger.

This is exactly why there can be no Rice-A-Romney. I really hope that Romney is smart enough to see this. I know the GOPe are stupid enough to choose Rice. Let’s hope Romney just floated the name out there to gauge the reaction. I like Sarah a lot, but I’m not sure what she’s thinking. You do not want to arm Bozo with the ability to drudge (pun intended) up Bush and the whole Iraq War thing again.

I’m inclined to agree, it would be stupid to bring anyone associated with the Bush Administration into the picture, it just opens up all of those wounds again, and it is a guaranteed loser. The lead up to the war and the war has resulted in a safe America, and that war was a price we had to pay. Obama has followed those policies. This would not be a negative to argue.

The VP will likely be Susana Martinez, she will fit in perfectly with Romney...a Dem before she was a "republican"....

Or it will be Brian Sandoval, elected Governor of Nevada. He was appointed United States District Judge for the District of Nevada by President George W. Bush in October 2005, becoming the state's first Hispanic federal judge.

This is their answer every time they stick a finger in the conservatives’ eyes.

I hthought Sarah was pro-life.

She is.

But a candidate needs to answer one question truthfully: will the candidate do the will of the people even if it differs from the candidate's personal "feelings" or opinions? Romney, for instance, has a progressive streak a mile wide, but I believe he is willing to set it aside for the good of the country. Can Condi do the same? Sarah seems to think so. Can the other potential VP choices? That is the real issue.

(Donning flameproofs)

I can hear the democrats and media now....

“Romney is a racist for picking Rice.”

“Romney is a sexist for picking a woman”

“Romney is desperate”

“Republicans would never allow her to be the nominee for President”

“Rice is stupid anyway and a sell out to her race”
Actually, I think they already used that one.

“Rice is Bush in a skirt”

“Rice has no experience”

“Rice is a felon too”

Beg to differ. It is safe to praise Professor Rice as an excellent choice for VP in the certain knowledge that there is a snow ball’s chance in Hell that she would accept the offer if it came. The lady has been as explicit as humanly possible in saying no way, no how, ain’t interested (in running for any elective office). If Sarah had given any answer but the one she provided it would be portrayed by the scum media as a cat fight. She handled it deftly and managed, as usual, to stick a blade into Obama while doing so.

Gee whiz, it was just Palin being her typical self, being generically upbeat and positive about a fellow Republican... and then using this as a springboard to slam Obama. A few moments later she made it pretty clear she strongly wanted a pro-life ticket.

Sarah Palin is being diplomatic here and trying not to cause fissure in the GOP at this point in the campaign.

Condoleezza Rice is a diplomat, not a politician. As a diplomat she is more dedicated to compromise rather than conservative problem-solving.

If Romney picks her, this could be Dole / Kemp, the sequel.

Is this a promise or just a greasy politician leaving wiggle room?

Moderator: Gov. Romney, will the person you chose as your vice presidential running mate be someone who shares your pro-life and pro-marriage convictions?

Romney: I certainly imagine so, I haven’t made and selections in that regard … [as I look around at the people I would consider] I would expect that they would all be pro-life and pro-traditional marriage … but this is an important enough issue that the person that I would select in that position would share my views on those important issues.

There are always floating of names much of which I believe is to
keep things in a turmoil while the decision is being made.

Heck remember 2008 and McCain’s rumored VP picks which included:
Crist, Ridge, Jindal, Sanford, Romney, Huckabee, etc before he finally
picked Palin.

Wasn’t Mitt going to be at a fundraiser last night at Dick Cheney’s Wyoming compound? I think Cheney would share his feelings with Mitt about this Condi for VP balloon.

She’s a strong woman who will stand up to anyone, and she is incredibly smart, I think. As to her conservative bona fides, I’m not at all confident she is a conservative.

I hope this is just a balloon to pucker the faces of the MSM. We have plenty of strong, intelligent, well spoken conservatives, male, female, white, black, brown... to choose from.
