Republican Senator Charles Grassley slammed the Department of Justice Thursday not only over the Fast and Furious dispute, but for what he called an abuse of power by a DoJ attorney in Louisiana.
His remarks, to the Executive Committee of the Senate Judiciary Committee, opened with the observation that, I understand the frustrations of the House leadership and understand why the House held Attorney General Holder in contempt.
Grassley recalled that on the day before the historic contempt vote which the Justice Department subsequently dismissed by insisting no crime had been committed by Attorney General Eric Holder when he ignored a congressional subpoena the White House showed House staff less than 30 pages of documents, and offered to resolve the problem in good faith. However, he added, the White House still refused to detail exactly what it was willing to provide or what it insisted on withholding.
But his ire extended beyond his dealings with the White House. Grassley also related a report that a working journalist in Louisiana was told by a Justice Department attorney at a public meeting, You can quote those who speak, but you cant quote me.
That female attorney allegedly asserted that the Justice Department has special rules regarding how its attorneys may be quoted by the press. According to Grassley, She did not back up that statement.

Fascism (Mussolini model) is a flavor of socialism were the state “controls” but does not completely own the means of production . Control covers who gets to make what product ,who may buy the product ,at what price & those that object find themselves facing everything from govt. functionaries with instructions to screw you to mob violence in the streets (think OWS ) Welcome Ladies & Gentlemen to Fascist America.
Now the question is what to do about it cause the GOP for the most part is fundamentally spineless.
What can the Republicsns do? They can't impeach the traitor. The serial rapist, Bill Clinton, couldn't be impeached and convicted.
Obama wants the REPUBS to go there because he will get the idiots out in droves to vote for him in a symapthy vote. Therefore, the Repubs have to wait for the Citizens to vote him out.
The CONSITITUTION fails us again because the debth of corruption in Washington, DC far exceeds what you believe is possible. It will not stop until the hangings start.
Nothing remotely akin to immigration since early yesterday, so this is the closest to fresh I could get...
Declare that the DoJ is need of a major housecleaning & literally keep pounding on that point bluntly state that after 2 years of Congressional investigation we as a nation are no closer to knowing who authorized the program & until that facts change the American people cannot trust the DoJ .
It will require that the GOP act like they have a set of balls but it can be done.
Can the house cut off funding of the whole DOJ? I seem to remember the rats threatening Bush on war funding with immediate no next paycheck cuts.
