Rove, Romney and the GOP-e set out to destroy the tea party, and they are succeeding

Rove, Romney and the GOP-e loathe pro-life Reagan conservatism, loathe the small government tea party and set out to destroy them both. I hate to admit it, but they are succeeding.

As I see staunch pro-life conservatives and tea party patriots folding their small government tents in favor of Romney's GOP-e progressive, big government big tent, I can't help but see not only the end of the tea party, but the end of pro-life, pro-liberty conservatism within the Republican party. And if we cannot quickly recover, the end of liberty in America. America's great experiment in self-government by believers in life and liberty destroyed, not by the liberal progressive statists of the Democrat party, but by the liberal progressive statists of the Republican party. Where the statist Democrats have failed, the statist GOP-e will have succeeded.

There is absolutely no doubt that Romney's pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-socialist healthcare, statist big government record is identical to Obama's. Once upon a time in the not so distant past, conservatives automatically shunned big government statists. The GOP-e and the malignant genius, Karl Rove, figured out how to outflank us and turn the GOP totally against Reagan conservatism and against pro-Life, pro-family, pro-small government conservatives. It's an engineered coup d'etat against traditional small government conservatism and it is deadly.

THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated. Britain, with an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX) but "to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER" and if being bound in that manner, is not slavery, then is there not such a thing as slavery upon earth. Even the expression is impious; for so unlimited a power can belong only to God.

The fear of Obama has turned many among us into squishes who will set the pro-life conservative movement back forty years or more by surrendering to the abortionist/homosexualist, statist progressive, big government, corrupt crony capitalist agenda within the GOP.

We should not fear Obama to the point we elect an overstepping statist just like him, we should be determined to impeach his usurping treasonous ass! We should shun the Gop-e, shun Karl Rove, shun Romney, shun all of the big government, big tent, RINOS who have taken over the GOP. Rather than surrendering to the big government forces, we should be working full-time to elect pro-life, pro-small government conservatives into the majority of elective offices throughout this great land. If ever there was a time for pro-life conservatives and tea party patriots to stand their ground, it is NOW!! SURRENDER TO STATISM? NUTS!!

With conservative majorities in the legislative branches of the federal government and in the majority of all state and local governments, we can impeach and remove or expel the traitors amongst us from their executive posts, their high benches or their legislative seats and reclaim our Liberty!!

I am shocked by the number of supposedly pro-life conservatives who would promote these abortionist/homosexualist statists and dismayed that so many tea party patriots would fold their tents. Romney is the natural biological father of the big government unconstitutional statist RomneyCare/ObamaCare program that was the spark that ignited the tea party. And now the tea party sadly seems to be on the brink of surrendering to him before the fight has even begun.

Not me. I stand firm for Life and Liberty!! No Obama!! No Romney!! NOT ON MY WATCH!!

Agreed!

And when Republicans nominate some like Paul LaPage, they win elections. After 2010, the state house, state senate, and governor went Republican. Also, in Maine there is no Lt. Governor. There are no state-wide state elections for anyone but the governor. All the other administration postitions such as Secretary of State are appointed by the combined membership of the state house and senate. Whichever party holds 50% +1 of the total house and senate membership, that part select all the state-wide offices.
All Republicans now!
Jim is right, Rush is right when we nominate conservative
tea part types we win elections!!

Well, one of them WILL be president for the next four years, the only question is which one. There are no other feasible options. For me, the choice, though sub-optimal, is crystal clear.

Rush Limbaugh nailed it back in December but have no fear, the tea party still lives in plenty of hearts and will spring to bloom no matter who wins in November.

Here's the big problem, Greta, for the Republicans. And I am a lone wolf on this. The rule of thumb in elections, both parties, 40 percent are going to vote Democrat automatically, whatever you do, 40 percent are going to vote Republican, automatic, no matter what you do. And in the middle, who do we have? The precious, God love them, independents and the moderates. And they are the targets. They are the focus of every election. And our brilliant campaign consultants tell our candidates they are the ones that know how to go get a majority of those independents. And we have, as Republicans, put ourselves in prison to this whole silly notion that you only win elections by moving to the center and getting great independents. Fine and dandy, but if you squander your base in the process, you haven't a prayer.

The Republican Party is trying to do something in this primary that is unprecedented. They're trying to split the conservative vote and win the primary with a moderate, with Romney. It's the other way around. You consolidate your base and then you move to the center in the general. The Republican establishment has decided they don't want any part of conservatism. And this is really not new. People are surprised to hear this, but the Republican Party formative event with conservatism is Goldwater's landslide defeat. That's what they think of when they think conservative. They don't think Reagan. They think Goldwater.

They believe what the inside-the-Beltway philosophy is about conservatives. They're racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, Southern hayseed hicks. They're pro-lifers. They're embarrassing to have to go to the convention with them. And they're just embarrassed to have those kind of people in the party. They're dumb. They're not erudite. They're not educated in Ivy League schools. We'll take their votes on election day, but we really don't want to hang around with them. We don't want anybody in Washington thinking that we're really that close to them and aligned with them. So in the process -- you know, it's a very sophisticated electorate. The Republican primary voter can sense that the Republican Party really doesn't like them, really doesn't want them, thinks that they are the route to defeat. That's the problem in a nutshell. The Republican establishment thinks that a conservative nominee is the route to defeat because they think Goldwater landslides are going to happen because they believe what the popular misconception the left has created of conservatives -- they think everybody thinks that.

Why whore yourself to Babylon? There is no real difference between Obozo or Mittens winning. It’s not our fight. We lost when Mittens won. The only fight left is for the senate, the house, and for the soul of the country, which our enemies, who are many and in high places, will oppose us with all their strength.

I’ve been trying to keep my mouth shut lately because I’ve grown tired of the RomneyBot attacks that come whenever I indicate my reluctance to vote for their boy. I can’t help myself though, when I see others getting attacked by the surrender monkeys.

OVER MY DEAD BODY!

Best scenario I can see is that Romney gets elected along with a majority in the House and Seante. THEN the Tea Party (and FR) has to REALLY kick into gear and make him aware that if he doesn't hold to the CONSERVATIVE AGENDA he will be OUT!

I'm afraid too many will sit back and think "Oh, everything is cool, there's a "R" in the White House."

They'll sit back and in 2014 the socialists will sweep in followed by a total takeover in 2016.

BTW, Have to wait until next weekend (because I had to spend a FORTUNE for the steering gear for my Durango, LOL!) but another donation is on the way!

It’s one or the other. I am certainly not pro-Obama. I will vote for Romney. I do not believe Romney is a muslim communist. Why undermine the candidate who is running against a muslim communist? What do we gain by that approach?

I think it’s worth asking whether it really is too late to put a conservative on the ballot for president. Look, we all KNOW that O-Zero’s attacks on Romney are complete BS. But Romney has shown he isn’t able to stand up to it. He looks weak and defensive. So, maybe this is an opening for us.

Romney cannot really just drop out of the race. That would be insane. But he could be asked to let the convention make the call about whether he should move forward. Conservatives could ask him to release his delegates to vote their consciences.

If those delegates still want him on the ticket and he gets the votes, then good for him (I guess). But opening the convention would provide an opportunity to really debate the direction of the Republican Party and maybe ... just MAYBE... allow a conservative/ Tea Party/ Constitutionalist/ patriotic/ Christian / non-socialist / free-market insurgency to gain control.

Just be sure to vote in those house and senate races as if they were the most important races in the world. They just might be.

If people want to vote for Romney, more power to them but I’m not going to.

The TEA Party was never intended to be about abortion, homosexuality, etc. It's strength was that people who think we are Taxed Enough Already could unite around the issues of taxes, debt, and spending, regardless of where they stand on social issues. A lot of it's initial support came from independents aren't necessarily “conservatively correct” on every issue. If you try to make it about all things conservative, it will just be another conservative group, preaching to the choir. Then it really will be done as a political force.

I must disagree

TeaParty candidates are winning in the primaries.

Cruz is going to win his primary, a huge upset.

We have knocked off quite a few RINO's.

The GOP is getting the message and if they don't, a new Party will emerge.
