Skip to comments.Obama, Republicans criticize Romney while candidate spends time with family
Posted on 07/14/2012 4:52:56 PM PDT by jimbo123
An unrelenting President Barack Obama jabbed at Mitt Romney's record with a private equity firm in an ad Saturday that aimed to keep his rival on the defensive just as the Republican challenger's campaign hoped to take advantage of poor economic data to gain an edge on the incumbent.
Obama met Romney's plea for an apology for the attacks with a mocking ad that charged that the firm shipped American jobs to China and Mexico, that Romney has personal wealth in investments in Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, and that as Massachusetts governor, he sent state jobs to India.
On the sidelines of the National Governors Association meeting in Williamsburg, Alabama's Republican governor, Robert Bentley, called on Romney to release all the documents requested of him.
While Obama hammered Romney for a second consecutive day in Virginia, Romney spent time with his family in New Hampshire. The candidate, taking a weekend off from public events, spent the morning at his lake house, working on his iPad on the lawn while his grandchildren played nearby. His last public event was Wednesday and he didn't plan other public campaign appearances until Tuesday.

is he running for President?
Its not like plenty of us weren’t raising the alarm.
All I’ve got to say is that we better work extra hard on taking conservative control of the house and senate as well as removing the GOP leadership. National committee, speaker of the house, majority leader, etc.
They’re lazy and have no fight in them, except against Conservatives.
Romney cannot be so stupid as to continue reacting to this crap for that long. He COULDN'T be so dense that he allows the corrupt kenyan buffoon and his media toads to call the tune, not with all the ammo he's got to use.
There are 3 1/2 months to go. Everyone wants Romney to go after Obama, but I think the patience is a good strategy. Obama has spent almost $100 million on attack ads, most of which have backfired. Just remember how angry everyone was when Romney’s staff went agressive in the primaries. They’re nasty and nothing like McCain’s staff. Its coming. They know no one pays attention in the summer, but come fall, it will be different.
Republicans criticize Romney because he acts like a stealth conservative democrat..
Everyone knows there are no conservative democrats..
Democrats are not even democrats they are socialists..
Some, a large most, are even communists..
The inventor of Romney-care gets along quite well with the inventors of Obama-care..
What does the people of Massachusetts know about Romney republicans do not know?
The republican party is quite screwed up... running a whole bunch of “conservative” challengers to him in the primary.. specifically to water down the conservative vote was brilliant.. so that he would win..
After this election I personally will become “independant”...
I’ve had it with this kind of regrettable chicken-poop gambit..
The republican party is a scam, scamming the silly republicans..
This election has proven it beyond a doubt to me..
Poor little Mr. RomneyCARE.
On the Defensive for himself, protected by his wife.
POOR AMERICA — stuck with the architect of DEATH PANELS
and Obama. What a choice. ObamaCARE OR RomneyCARE????

You think the Romney Derangement Squad cares?
They are ALLIED with Obama.
Obama runs an attack ad -> the RDS is there to say “we agree”!
RINO apologist, begone!
remember folks- this is the middle of July and this is all obama’s got as the economy and jobs picture won’t get better...plus Romney and company were pretty effective last week shooting back in ads pointing out that obama is a liar, obama is the real outsourcer of jobs as well as the PAC ad on obama’s war on women....
would i like Romney to get up there and call out obama for the POS he is??? absolutely but obama is acting as though its the bottom of the 9th and he’s already sending in his top reliever to seal the deal....there are three months left, September and October being the most important, and obama’s chamber is just about empty...
LOL- well then you better just mail it in.....
btw- not that it matters and not that i want to stand up for FDR, but you are aware when he took office in 1933 unemployment was over 20%, aren’t you???
hence even at 17% its still a 5%-6% improvement from when he entered office.....can’t say the same for ayatollah obama...
“RINO apologist, begone!”
Cute. As a person that voted for Newt, and bitched at you guys for being cowards by abandoning him, I ought to label you folks as the real RINOS.
But you see, unlike you still trying to be clever folks I decided to actually aim my fire at Obama in the general election, because my silly little mind actually still believes he is the bigger evil, instead of acting like a little “Yes We Can” Bot and playing off his attacks as a way to ding Romney.
But hey, if your derangement with Romney makes you comfortable teaming up with O and using him as a springboard to keep acting like this is still the primaries, then go for it!
You think the Romney Derangement Squad cares?

Got that right. They aren’t fooling anyone. They want King Barack to stay in the White House so bad they can taste it.
The old political maxim applies - don't answer the question they ask, answer the question you want them to ask.
The Campaign and Election of 1936
FDR entered the 1936 election with a strong, but not invincible, hand. The economy remained sluggish and eight million Americans still were without jobs. Critics from various points on the political spectrumsuch as Father Coughlin and Dr. Francis Townsendhad spent much of the previous two years attacking the President. (They supported Representative William Lemke of the newly formed Union Party in the 1936 election.) Likewise, by 1936 FDR had lost most of the backing he once held in the business community because of his support for the Wagner Act and the Social Security Act.
Republicans, though, had few plausible candidates to challenge FDR in 1936. They settled on Alfred “Alf” Landon, a two-term governor of Kansas who was the only Republican governor to win reelection in 1934. Nominated on the first ballot at the Republican convention in Cleveland, Landon was a moderate conservativeand notoriously lackluster public speakerwho the party hoped could take votes from FDR in the rural Midwest. Unfortunately for Landon, his moderation was often drowned out during the campaign by the conservative clamor emanating from the Republican Party, as well as from his running mate, Chicago publisher Frank Knox.
Roosevelt seemed to relish the attacks of Republicans, maintaining that he and his New Deal protected the average American against the predations of the rich and powerful, Referring to “business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking,” FDR crowed, “Never before have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for meand I welcome their hatred.” Roosevelt’s supporters believed their candidate understood and sympathized with them. As one worker put it in 1936, Roosevelt “is the first man in the White House to understand that my boss is a son of a (expletive.)”
i would tend to agree with you but fact is the WaComPost has called out obama for being a liar several times last week and CNN did as much today...
Throwing tampons at Obama and calling him a liar and asking for apologies is not going to get Romney elected. What is Romney’s game plan?
yes, Sir! Whatever you say, Sir! No excuse, Sir. /s
LOL....FDR could also truthfully say “unemployment is 6-points lower now then the day i was elected”...
night and day to the POS in the WH now...
If you think they will ever come around to reporting fairly you are bound to be disappointed.
That’s not what FDR said to get reelected.
Speech at Madison Square Garden (October 31, 1936)
Franklin Delano Roosevelt
All I know is that it’s bad politics to STILL be sitting on your ass up at the lake AFTER the July 4th holiday is over when Obama is out on the trail every day. It makes you look lazy & disengaged.
DITTO! Hope Romney and FR understand the arguments for free trade, deregulation, free market economy are not effective arguments since the implosion of 2008. Romney wants to win, study American First philosophy of Pat Buchanan. Otherwise Blue Collar Dems will vote for Obama and Obama may lose the popular vote, but take it thru the electoral college. Looked at the Rasmussen EC chart. Obama has 240 with leaning states and 100 undecided EC. He needs to win only 30 of the 100 toss ups while Romney needs about 90 of the toss ups to win. Romney has a big challenge EC wise. Between pandering to the Latino voters, and appealing to blue collar, Obama may win enough of the key states to win it via Electoral College despite losing the popular vote. All FR need to ignore the polls and concentrate on the EC map for the real picture.
disappointed?? it gives Romney furth ammo to call obama out as a liar....
that’s great...and you know what got obama elected in 2008???
1) Independent Voters...
2) Disgruntled GOP voters who stayed home or voted for obama because they wanted to do something historic by voting for obama...
3) white men who usually vote GOP in large numbers but voted for obama in greater numbers than usual for a rat presidential candidate...
4) the super rich...
5) the young vote...
guess what- he’s losing or has completely lost the first four groups and group number 5, the young vote, is fractionally behind him compared to where they were four years ago...
It doesn't matter what Willard does - he stays home, they report he's disengaged. He's out stumping they report he's doing damage control.
Its all about how the press chooses to characterize it. That is why Willard needs to stop trying to answer questions in good faith and take every opportunity to tell the story he wants to tell.
Obama is the sitting president.....a day off still looks like he’s working to the public since he’s in the White House or at Camp David. Romney is really sitting on his ass at the lake after the July 4th holiday as we speak. It looks bad. And yes Romney needs to stop playing defense.
I thought it made him look like a man who cares for his family
Political rope a dope?
They’re trying to throw the election by campaiging with both hands tied behind his back.
The real “handlers” have decided that Øbama should be POTUS and Øbamacare should be law—not that Romney and Romneycare would be much different.
They are ALLIED with Obama.
If that is true, then the GOP is really the stupid party. Romney should ask Obama to release his records and documents.
You got it. No one admires rich people anymore. Most have gotten their wealth the old fashion way: they stole it.
“An unrelenting President Barack Obama jabbed at Mitt Romney’s record with a private equity firm in an ad Saturday that aimed to keep his rival on the defensive just as the Republican challenger’s campaign hoped to take advantage of poor economic data to gain an edge on the incumbent.”
I love how this first paragraph is slanted. No bias there, no sir. The “unrelenting jabs” are being discredited before they are even done airing...and are causing democrats to run for cover due to the blatant lies being told. It isn’t “unrelenting jabs” it’s desperation by Obama that reeks to the heavens. He’s playing a lot of ads and a ton of money in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania. If he’s so worried about those places, then he’s toast. The only ones who are buying this crap are hard core liberals, the media, and Republicans whose candidate didn’t make it.
‘Political rope a dope?’
Nope...taking a powder.
Im 62 years old and Have Heard this Crap Before,Just wait its Coming ,youll see,Thats why we Had President Dole and President MCcain.I will believe it when I see it,But I wont Hold My Breath
In tough and chaotic times invest in things not people. When you put money in an investment account or bank account, you are hoping the CEO of the firm did not make a bad investment decision and is desperate to steal from customer accounts to cover or worst double down and make the losses even worst. When 25 percent in the financial business when surveyed admit that they have seen cheating and lawbreaking that allowed the lawless one advance, that is not a comforting situation.
Read about countries that are at the verge of collapsing or just fell like South Vietnam, Soviet Union, etc etc etc, the powerful ones will loot the system and leave nothing for the common citizen. We are facing such times with our huge debt and unseen leveraged derivatives. Problem is people behind the scenes know and react immediately and by the time it reaches the public it is already too late, the accounts have been emptied.
If one is smart, prep.
