Obama, Republicans criticize Romney while candidate spends time with family
NY Post ^ | 7/14/12 | Associated Press

An unrelenting President Barack Obama jabbed at Mitt Romney's record with a private equity firm in an ad Saturday that aimed to keep his rival on the defensive just as the Republican challenger's campaign hoped to take advantage of poor economic data to gain an edge on the incumbent.

Obama met Romney's plea for an apology for the attacks with a mocking ad that charged that the firm shipped American jobs to China and Mexico, that Romney has personal wealth in investments in Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, and that as Massachusetts governor, he sent state jobs to India.

On the sidelines of the National Governors Association meeting in Williamsburg, Alabama's Republican governor, Robert Bentley, called on Romney to release all the documents requested of him.

While Obama hammered Romney for a second consecutive day in Virginia, Romney spent time with his family in New Hampshire. The candidate, taking a weekend off from public events, spent the morning at his lake house, working on his iPad on the lawn while his grandchildren played nearby. His last public event was Wednesday and he didn't plan other public campaign appearances until Tuesday.

Its not like plenty of us weren’t raising the alarm.

All I’ve got to say is that we better work extra hard on taking conservative control of the house and senate as well as removing the GOP leadership. National committee, speaker of the house, majority leader, etc.

I wouldnt worry too much - the media & Obama were bound to do something like this. They'll try to keep the pressue on, keep Willard's campaign off balance for the next 4 months.

Romney cannot be so stupid as to continue reacting to this crap for that long. He COULDN'T be so dense that he allows the corrupt kenyan buffoon and his media toads to call the tune, not with all the ammo he's got to use.

There are 3 1/2 months to go. Everyone wants Romney to go after Obama, but I think the patience is a good strategy. Obama has spent almost $100 million on attack ads, most of which have backfired. Just remember how angry everyone was when Romney’s staff went agressive in the primaries. They’re nasty and nothing like McCain’s staff. Its coming. They know no one pays attention in the summer, but come fall, it will be different.

Republicans criticize Romney because he acts like a stealth conservative democrat..
Everyone knows there are no conservative democrats..
Democrats are not even democrats they are socialists..
Some, a large most, are even communists..

The inventor of Romney-care gets along quite well with the inventors of Obama-care..
What does the people of Massachusetts know about Romney republicans do not know?

The republican party is quite screwed up... running a whole bunch of “conservative” challengers to him in the primary.. specifically to water down the conservative vote was brilliant.. so that he would win..

After this election I personally will become “independant”...
I’ve had it with this kind of regrettable chicken-poop gambit..
The republican party is a scam, scamming the silly republicans..
This election has proven it beyond a doubt to me..

remember folks- this is the middle of July and this is all obama’s got as the economy and jobs picture won’t get better...plus Romney and company were pretty effective last week shooting back in ads pointing out that obama is a liar, obama is the real outsourcer of jobs as well as the PAC ad on obama’s war on women....

would i like Romney to get up there and call out obama for the POS he is??? absolutely but obama is acting as though its the bottom of the 9th and he’s already sending in his top reliever to seal the deal....there are three months left, September and October being the most important, and obama’s chamber is just about empty...

the economy and jobs picture won’t get better

FDR was reelected with 17% unemployment in 1936 and Obama is using the same strategies and tactics from that campaign.

LOL- well then you better just mail it in.....

btw- not that it matters and not that i want to stand up for FDR, but you are aware when he took office in 1933 unemployment was over 20%, aren’t you???

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0104719.html/

hence even at 17% its still a 5%-6% improvement from when he entered office.....can’t say the same for ayatollah obama...

actually i think Romney's response, which no one is talking about, was a pretty good one:

***UPDATE: The Romney camp has already responded to the ad:

Every day, President Obama hits a new low. It is sad and shameful that President Obama would mock America The Beautiful. But sadly it’s not surprising for the man who launched his presidency with an apology tour. The ‘Uncle Jims’ of our country – as he condescendingly calls middle-class Americans – don’t believe in mocking America The Beautiful and don’t believe in apologizing for America. - Romney for President.

“RINO apologist, begone!”

Cute. As a person that voted for Newt, and bitched at you guys for being cowards by abandoning him, I ought to label you folks as the real RINOS.

But you see, unlike you still trying to be clever folks I decided to actually aim my fire at Obama in the general election, because my silly little mind actually still believes he is the bigger evil, instead of acting like a little “Yes We Can” Bot and playing off his attacks as a way to ding Romney.

But hey, if your derangement with Romney makes you comfortable teaming up with O and using him as a springboard to keep acting like this is still the primaries, then go for it!

Got that right. They aren’t fooling anyone. They want King Barack to stay in the White House so bad they can taste it.

It doesn't matter what he says, the media will not report in good faith, they have their stories already written.

The old political maxim applies - don't answer the question they ask, answer the question you want them to ask.

The Campaign and Election of 1936

FDR entered the 1936 election with a strong, but not invincible, hand. The economy remained sluggish and eight million Americans still were without jobs. Critics from various points on the political spectrum—such as Father Coughlin and Dr. Francis Townsend—had spent much of the previous two years attacking the President. (They supported Representative William Lemke of the newly formed Union Party in the 1936 election.) Likewise, by 1936 FDR had lost most of the backing he once held in the business community because of his support for the Wagner Act and the Social Security Act.

Republicans, though, had few plausible candidates to challenge FDR in 1936. They settled on Alfred “Alf” Landon, a two-term governor of Kansas who was the only Republican governor to win reelection in 1934. Nominated on the first ballot at the Republican convention in Cleveland, Landon was a moderate conservative—and notoriously lackluster public speaker—who the party hoped could take votes from FDR in the rural Midwest. Unfortunately for Landon, his moderation was often drowned out during the campaign by the conservative clamor emanating from the Republican Party, as well as from his running mate, Chicago publisher Frank Knox.

Roosevelt seemed to relish the attacks of Republicans, maintaining that he and his New Deal protected the average American against the predations of the rich and powerful, Referring to “business and financial monopoly, speculation, reckless banking,” FDR crowed, “Never before have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me—and I welcome their hatred.” Roosevelt’s supporters believed their candidate understood and sympathized with them. As one worker put it in 1936, Roosevelt “is the first man in the White House to understand that my boss is a son of a (expletive.)”
