OCALA - Two men who attempted to hold up an Internet cafe were shot and injured by a patron of the business Friday night, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's officials said they got a call at 9:54 p.m. about an armed robbery at Palms Internet Cafe, 8444 SW State Road 200. When deputies arrived at the scene, they saw blood on the ground.
Patrons outside the business told them that two masked men - one armed with a baseball bat and the other with a handgun - had barged into the business. The robbers told the approximately 30 patrons to get on the floor and demanded money.
Officials said one of the patrons, Samuel Williams, withdrew his own handgun and shot at the robber with the gun, according to sheriff's officials.
Both robbers began running toward the front door, and the patron fired several more shots as they fled.
The two men got into a car parked nearby and left.
Not long afterward, deputies got a call about two men at a Marion Oaks residence who were telling people there that they had been shot while at Scott Carrigan Baseball Park on Southeast 17th Street in Ocala. Police Department officers went to the ball field but found no evidence of a shooting there, according to sheriff's officials.
The two men were transported - one by helicopter - to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The Sheriff's Office identified them as Davis G. Dawkins, 19, and Duwayne Henderson, also 19. Dawkins has a Dunnellon address. His alleged accomplice has an Ocala address, officials said.
Dawkins had a superficial wound in his left arm, while Henderson was shot in the lower back near his buttocks.

Patron will be sued and he will lose.
No he won’t.
Ha! Internet cafe. Maybe they were Freepers? 10 million dollars to one donut this was a “gambling den” patronized by Holder’s people.
Them young Obama boys at it again. Don’t they know they get free inshaunce? All they got to do is get thier sister pregnant and they can get lots of money the easy way. Don’t need no gun for thet ride.
Geeks with Glocks, sounds like a course in a community college in Israel.
The patron should look up Zimmerman’s firearm trainer so he can more effectively assist Trayvon wannabes in the future.
When I read the title, I thought at first that someone had been shot by a bottle of tequila,
The shots in the backside of the one will be a problem for the good citizen. There are times though that you have to do what you have to do.
Not so sure the patron will be sued since both the shooter and victim were armed and the msm has yet to clarify any ‘racial’ inequities regarding the identity of the shooter as a white hispanic or bearing a potentially Jewish surname like that of Zimmerman.
They were probably just "good boys" trying to get their lives together again.
If a dude wears a mask in 90 degree weather, then he does deserve a butt bullet.
Laws should be changed for good citizens. Why do the good guys always have to be punished for the bad guy’s behavior?
We don't have those UN approved ROEs around here...yet...no matter how hard the media and outside political agitators try to change that.
keep up with the times. It’s Isreal not Israel.
Did you sleep through the past 24 hrs?
Perps should not have been able to run away. I hope Bubba got his Viagra pills ready for these sweet young things.
I’m pretty sure its against the law to wear a mask into stores here in Florida.
Knowing the history of Ocala and the sheriff up there I doubt there will be charges for the shooting. Unless of course the shooter had the gun illegally.
I’ve seen several references to gambling associated with “Internet cafes”. Can someone educate me as to what is going on there? What kind of gambling is taking place?
“I doubt there will be charges for the shooting. Unless of course the shooter had the gun illegally.”
I’m afraid the bottom line will be as it always is - the “complexion” of the situation.
One’s name is Duwayne?
