According to the Hawaii Reporter, Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie (Dem) signed a bill into law that will make it easier (or at least more tempting) for NRA representatives to give firearm training instruction in the beautiful island state.
Governor Abercrombie signed House Bill 679 into law on July 9. The bill, which you can find official information about here, aims to protect NRA instructors. It “exempts NRA instructors from absolute liability for injury or damage caused by their firearms during the course of providing firearms training at a firing range for the purpose of acquiring a permit to purchase a firearm.”
Basically, the bill will allow NRA instructors to help people acquire firearm permits without having to worry so much about being slammed with a lawsuit whenever something goes wrong. That means fewer court battles for the NRA and more gun permits and firearms in the hands of Hawaiian citizens. It’s a win-win for everybody involved.
The bill was introduced by state Representative Ken Ito, a Democrat, and six other state Representatives. Not to become too politically charged in this article, but we’re not very accustomed to Democrats pushing pro-gun legislation. We could get used to this!
Wonder what motivated Old Yellowfangs to sign this one. He makes Ben & Jerry look like Gordon Gekko twice.

Do not live on Oahu anymore, but when I would be at the range at Kokohead, the rifle firing line would be packed with guys and their ARs, many with supposedly illegal 20 and 30 rd magazines.
The registration BS is a joke, but no great obstacle as far as I have heard. My stuff is registered on one island, I am on another, so what do they know?
California is far, far worse these days from all I hear. I sold off all my good stuff before leaving that accursed hellhole. Much of it could only be sold to cops as I got it long before the liberals got their new laws in place.
Only meager retirement funds prevent having a full safe here. Ammo prices suck, but that is due to shipping rules. We have a nice new public range to be built up north in the lava fields next year, massive public support for that. Lots of gun enthusiasts here. Not so many goblins, so no CCW is not a big deal. Luckily I do not live in Honolulu.
It is to me. My state of Merryland has denied me that right that other states granted me previously. You can never understand freedom until you lose it I guess...

NRA does offer insurance for its Instructors. $400 per year and rather high limits, too.
However - -0 in all the years they offered it, there have been NO CLAIMS!
“Yellowfangs” was just grandstanding to distract Hawaiians from the Democrapic Party refusal to allow Hawaiians to exercise they Natural Law right to self defense.
PS “Yellowfangs” and the Hawaiian Democraps do not care what SCOTUS ruled. Like the Collectivist-N-Chief who lived there once upon a time, Hawaiians are so besotted with socialism and the “Free Lunch” that the Constitution means essentially nothing to them.
In Honolulu, I would still see a "Pearl Harbor Survivor" license plate infrequently. There is a reverence for that stuff here that escapes the mainland fixation on the liberal idiocy that does exist. Gets my back stiff when I run into it, no offense intended.

OK, here’s off the top of my head: IIRC there was a governor of Hawaii who took umbrage at something some Republican president said or did, and he removed the U.S. flag from where it had flown alongside the Hawaii state flag (the kingdoms’s original combination of the British & U.S. ensigns).
Yes, liberal craziness in Hawaii is what makes it to the mainland: the recent `racial preference’ law (pureblooded Hawaiians were already rare a century ago), tour guides demanding `respect’ from haoles, a Congressional delegation more San Francisco than Honolulu.
I hope someday to visit the Arizona memorial; as a vet I will stay at the Hale Koa. FWIW, my Hawaiian first sergeant once loaned me his copy of “Pidgin to da Max”.
Gun rights on the Islands just seem to be an unusual topic. Favorable legislation even more so, IMO.
