I would have hoped the pilot and co-pilot took turns to walk back to the lavatory to examine the wires themselves. They, being the most familiar with aircraft, could have ascertained whether the wires were part of a bomb, or as I suspect, a pair of low voltage wires protruding out of it’s plastic sheath, which were intended for either a missing speaker or some kind of warning light. Were the pilots fearful of opening the cockpit door during this incident? That would be the only explanation I can think of as to why they wouldn’t have walked back there themselves
“Just looked at a VW diesel yesterday. Long trips burn a lot of fuel.”
Drove my 82 Champaign, Il to Colorado Springs once. Did almost 50 mpg.
Barring an emergency with one of my kids and their family, my plan is to never board another airplane...
I join you in that sentiment. I, too, have seen all the foreign countries I care to see and I have no interest in ever paying a dime toward airlines and their partners in crime, the TSA.
I don’t know. US airlines probably have a lot more volume than other countries, so on the whole, I’d say they’re ok.
Delta has generally been good, although some of their regional feeder airlines are not very good (Pinnacle, for example, which kept us waiting for 2 hours yesterday after not showing up at all for passengers the day before).
That said, I read that needles turned up in the sandwiches of passengers on a Delta flight from Amsterdam yesterday. So I think Delta is now perceived as an important target, particularly since it has been expanding and acquiring routes, and is going to become a jihadi target.
“Delta flight from Amsterdam yesterday....”

Well, I have not been on an American carrier since that crummy Delta flight from Paris to Atlanta in 2005.
Amsterdam was my gateway into Europe with a non-stop KLM flights to and from Memphis.
Those were really great. KLM was partnered with Northwest
before it went out of business.
Memphis was a Northwest hub, so that is how we had the KLM
flight.
My flying days are pretty much over, as I have settled to
finish my senior years in the Philippines.
My last three flights were with Qatar, Vienna/Cebu.
It is sad that no American carrier can rate more then 3 stars.
“She could have been in a morgue waiting for her own funeral.”
If the plane was blown up over the Atlantic, it is not likely that there would be any body parts being delivered to any morgue.
“Barring an emergency with one of my kids and their family, my plan is to never board another airplane.”
I am with you. My last flight was more than 10 years ago...I have always loved flying and have travelled many hundreds of thousands of miles by air. If ‘my ship comes in’ one of these days soon, my flying experiences will commense again...via charter from the airport’s private terminals. :)
