RUMOR: Pit Bull VP Candidates (Chris Christie, Gingrich?) being considered to counter Obama attacks
July 15, 2012 | Ralph Mitchell

Could the Romney campaign be forced to consider Pit Bull candidates such as Chris Christie or Newt Gingrich to help the GOP go on offense against Obama's unfair, untrue Romney attacks? Milktoast candidates such as Pawlenty, Condi Rice, Portman, etc. may not fit the bill.

Palin, Newt or West would be fine.

If I were Romney (God forbid) I’d shake things up by picking one of the 3 above and announcing that I would resign as President after 2 years. This would mean that voters would be voting for two presidents at once. There is no law forbidding such a scheme. Knowing for certain that a vote for Romney would mean a president Palin, Gingrich or West in two years would bring all conservatives to the polls. I swore I’d never vote for Romney but this would cause me to break my vow...the new president would be able to serve for ten years if re-elected twice.

Would a true patriot give up the presidency after two years to save the nation from another Obama term? I think a true patriot would, (I have doubts Romney would)

Obama would not counter by replacing Biden with Hillary and resigning after two years.... the narcissism would not allow for it.

OK, it’s yet another crackpot idea from me but hey, we live in strange times and it takes strange ideas to survive (that’s why I was rooting for Newt)

Allen West is the correct pick. Former military. Is not afraid of the Democrats. Is not afraid of muslims.

>>Newt would be the dream Veep for me.

VP’s don’t do much but play the pit bull and go to funerals.

I’d like to see him as SecState. That would a position where his intelligence, encyclopedic knowledge, and fantastic debating skills could make a difference in world affairs. Only thing is, would he be able to follow someone else’s script.

Why do people constantly feel the desire to parrot pundits?

I thought the thread needed a link to real punditry regarding Romney needing a "pit bull" VP, which I happen to agree with. I'd pay to see a Gingrich v Biden debate.

LOL...that is why the only possible position for Newt is Veep (except for pitt bull attacks, it is a meaningless job).

No need for a pick from the South, as Romney will win those states anyway.

Gingrich and Perry have already shown weakness in speaking on the national stage.

Jindal is the only Southern guv that Romney might pick, because he’s suitably milquetoast but also ‘of color’.

True for Perry, but Newt was a thing of pure marvel on the national stage (i.e. debate).

Pay? Sheesh, aren’t we paying enough already? Rhetorically and figuratively. Seems too many are engaged in a wishful thinking traffic circle with no exits. All the while, Romney takes another friggin two day vacation to his lake house!

Take a powder after getting sworn in Mitt! The current usurper has been on one since putting The Office of the President Elect behind him and the media just loves that. I’m sure they wouldn’t notice a couple weeks in the Caymans while you write your first State of the Union address.

Spitting nails with blood shooting from my eyes!

I don’t know, I kind of like it. Better than McCain running to wherever and doing whatever Obama, the democrats and the msm told him.

How about John Bolton? Smart, articulate, hard-hitting and never at a loss for words.

Sound reasoning....and all of which points to why it will never happen.

It makes too much sense.

Once all these rumor balloons float away, I am preparing to be extremely underwhelmed by the acutal announcement.

“Hillary is available. She’d be a perfect combo with Willard.”

Sadly, she’s probably more conservative. I don’t remember her trying to force tyrannical government mandates down everyone’s throats.

When you support a candidate just because he has an R behind his name, be aware that you might just end up with a Bloomberg and a national soda restriction.....under the blessing of the GOP.

" TPaw, maybe? "

As a consequence of the recent descent and demise of the infamous JoePaw, I think it might be time to "bury" that moniker.....

Plus he would help undercut losses to the Constitution Party candidate in VA. The reality remains that when in power, Gingrich is about the only guy around who really cut gov’t.
