Time Mag Editor: 'Only Thing Weaker Than the Economy Is Romney's Electoral Skills'

"The only thing weaker than the economy is Mitt Romney's electoral skills."

Such was actually said on CBS's Face the Nation Sunday by Rana Foroohar, Time magazine's assistant managing editor in charge of economics and business (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Time Mag Editor: 'The Only Thing Weaker Than the Economy Is Romney's Electoral Skills'

BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST: Let me-- let me go to Rana because you-- you wrote something very interesting the other day. You said that since 1967 when consumer confidence is as low as it is right now the incumbent is always defeated. Does that mean this thing is already over?

RANA FOROOHAR (TIME Magazine): Well, you know, I actually think that we're on the verge of a historic upset. That's true, the statistic that you just gave. And it would make you think that Obama has no chance of winning this election. But I think this election is going to hinge on middle-class pain. I think that people know that what's happened in the last four years have not been down to Obama's policies, it's about globalization, it's about the rise of technology. Each recovery since the early 1990s has been weaker and taken longer than the one before. So this is a-- this is a twenty-year problem. This is not a three- or four-year problem and I think that whoever can best speak to the middle-class is the person that's going to win.

BOB SCHIEFFER: Well, what do you mean when you say a historic upset?

RANA FOROOHAR: Well, I think that traditionally if you had consumer confidence numbers that were this weak and growth that was this low, there would be no chance that the incumbent is going to win, but, frankly, I think the only thing weaker than the economy is Mitt Romney's electoral skills. And I think he hasn't really put himself in a good position for this debate over the middle class.

"The only thing weaker than the economy is Mitt Romney's electoral skills."

And this woman has an editing function at Time.

Pretty scary, don't you think?

Whenever I hear these idiots say "I think" I take it as they don't know what they are talking about

When a magazine dwindles down to five pages, is it still a magazine?

Honestly...I don’t think any rational person really gives a shite what Ms. ‘Alphabet’ has to say. If they did, then Time Magazine would have circulation numbers worth worrying about.

Rana's name sounds like its from Muslim-derived ethnicity.

If so, is it any wonder that an affirmative action TIME mag editor would be in the tank for a Muslim-derived Pres?

She should change her name if she is going to say such silly things. It just makes it too easy to make fun of her...

Well, all I know about the economy and elections, and TIME is this: they always leave out loads of true information for whatever facts they report. i.e. there’s loads of economic problems, not to mention issues with their lapdog Obama that they aren’t mentioning.

I heard Carville on Bloomberg radio this morning -- "middle class" must be on the list of this weekend's 'rat talking points.

(By their use of the term the meaning seems to have been stretched to the point way beyond modern sociological usage.)

"The only thing weaker than the economy is Mitt Romney's electoral skills."

Bulleye! Even a clock is right twice a day, and this lady nails it.

As George Will pointed out, anyone who knows he's running for the presidency for years and doesn't get his offshore accounts and his tax files straightened out simply doesn't understand politics.

This race will be lost by Obama because of the economy, or it will be lost by Romney due to total lack of electoral ability.

Stiff, wooden, petulant, Romney made it through the primaries via cross-over voting and huge money advantages over his opponents.

Now we're getting to see what he's like against someone who can match him dollar for dollar. He's inept.

Conservatives were right. Gingrich was right. Santorum was right. The Rinos shoved Romney down our throats just like they did Dole/BushSr/McCain, and now they've worked their magic with Romney. Let them choke on it.

Another Affirmative Action hire illustrates why Time is shrinking into nothingness. What a glittering jewel of ignorance.

There, I fixed it.

I was going to say the only thing weaker than the economy is Time’s circulation outside of waiting rooms.

Utter Bull$hit!

People that really do know know that raising taxes during a recession, massively accelerating government spending, over regulation business to the point of stifling entrepreneurship, and selling major auto manufacturing to China in order to bail out labor unions are not conductive to a good economy.

She's on "Dope", and I don't mean the stuff you smoke, swallow, snort or inject.

Like BHO, Jimmy Carter was a decent and calm speaking gentleman- but like BHO he was an incompetant President.

Carter was ahead of Reagan in Oct 1980 but Americans were just being polite. I believe they will swing to Mitt when they contemplate 4 more years of this. my two cents

I'll repeat myself above, cherry. Read it and weep.

The republican candidate is weak, weak, weak. Santorum was right....a worse candidate could not have been chosen.

You sound like a longtime Romney supporter. If anyone's shoved Obama down our throats it's the likes of you and all those who make up excuses for this inept insider, Mitt Romney.

...”And I think he hasn’t really put himself in a good position for this debate over the middle class”...

This election isn’t about the middle class or ANY class. It’s about the failed Marxist policies that are harming all American’s. The folks are way ahead of these MSM lapdogs.
