Restaurant Gets Around Foie Gras Ban By “Gifting” It To Customers

The list of clever end runs around California's recent ban on the sale of foie gras continues to grow. First it was the restaurant that claimed exemption from the law because it's in a national park. Now comes an eatery that says the ban doesn't stop a business from giving foie gras away to customers.

The owner of Chez TJ in Mountain View, CA, says he hasn't bought any new foie gras since the ban went in to effect on July 1, but that he did stockpile it in advance of that date so that he could later include it as a bonus to the restaurant's $130 tasting menu.

“[T]he law says you cannot sell it," he tells CBS San Francisco. "It didn’t say you could not serve it."

I’m glad these guys are finding a way around these stupid ass laws, however I’d like to know their voting habits. I would wager that most of these restaurant owners have voted the same dems in over and over in which case, I hope they go broke.

Back in the day many, many years ago Mom used to buy foie gras all the time. Heck I had no clue at the time how it came to be. I liked it.

It is awful how they get foie gras, yet it is worse having government telling us what to do. IMHO

Reminds me of a resteraunt in town that used to sell a PBJ sandwich for $100 - but it came with a free bottle of Dom Perignon.

No matter what the commies try to do,
unless they actually stand there with a gun to your head,

the entrepeneur will figure out a way to thwart them.

There was some propose “ban” on selling used childrens’ clothes at garage sales. People said, no problem, we’ll sell paper plates and give away the clothes.

He can still serve them a soft drink larger than 16 ounces, though, with the fois gras - for now.

Really, now...whatever happened to that perfectly good verb "giving?"

But they don't figure it out on their own - no, they need the government.

/facepalm

California’s French restaurants don’t sell foie gras.

They only sell goose liver pate.

Gifting is a verb. It just sounds weird.

Just as in partnering, birthing, and parenting, verbing weirds language.

Really, now...whatever happened to that perfectly good verb "giving?"

Liberal females learn aspects of neurolinguistic programming in their kaffe klatch kovens (shhh - they're secret) in order to practice hypocrisy-dominance.

In order to earn a smiley-face merit-badge button for their pedal-pushers, they are trained to use words that force acceptance of their will, without needing them to admit they're doing anything.

"Giving" means someone has to give something, and make it as an offer that can be turned down, and for which the giver is responsible.

"Gifting" pre-identifies and declares the item to be of value, and the giver of the valuable item to be a beneficial person, and distances the giving person from both the identification of the value of the item, and the act of giving it, unless thay want to be acknowledged.

If someone, therefore, turns down a 'gifting" they are immediately ungrateful and the giver is immediately a victim, and as a victim, can invoke insane destruction on the rejector of the gift for hurting them.

Yes, it's insane.

But so are they.

Look around. Watch females all "gifting" each other with turd bombs and a smile, and then declaring themselves victims.

You think Hillary and Obama are popular because of their personalities?

No, no, no, no, no - it takes a LOT of work, on a LOT of former people.

(P.S. - Ask a woman if all this is true.)
