What quandary?

Sara Palin doesn’t hold political office and isn’t running for anything. She is now a media commentator.

It would be no more appropriate to for the GOP to invite Sara Palin to speak at the convention than it would be for the Dems to invite Andrea Mitchell.

How ignorant.

Sarah Palin was a governor and a VP candidate, Mitchel only reads the news.

Former governors, senators, house members, presidents and former VP candidates are asked to speak quite frequently.

To compare the above to someone who reads the news is ridiculous.

Has Andrea Mitchell ever been on a Presidential ticket as VP?

Beg Pardon? That’s a pretty dumb comparison. Remember Ronald Reagan was a “media Commentator”—on the radio-for the years he was out of office. If Fox has existed, he would have been on TV.
