(CBS News) With pressure building on Mitt Romney to release more of his past tax returns, Ron Paul on Tuesday added his voice to the chorus of people - including some Republicans - who say Romney should just bite the bullet and release the returns, according to Politico.
"Politically, I think that would help him," said Paul, Romney's former Republican presidential rival, in an interview with Politico. "In the scheme of things politically, you know, it looks like releasing tax returns is what the people want."
Democrats and the Obama campaign have relentlessly hammered Romney in recent days for his decision to make public just two years' worth of returns in the lead-up to November's election, collectively releasing a slew of campaign videos Tuesday questioning Romney's motives.
"Romney admits that over the last two years he's paid less than 15 percent in taxes on $43 million in income," a narrator intones in a new ad from the Obama campaign. "Makes you wonder if some years he paid any taxes at all."

Mitt will release more tax returns only if Obama releases his information.
July 20th - David Axelgreese ask why Romney won't release 25 years of tax returns for himself, his wife, children plus his pets veterinarian records. "There must be something he's hiding!"
Are we really this stupid?
Ron Paul doesn’t like Mitt.
Dump Romney!
Figured that sooner or later you Hate Mitt and Mormons PAUL-BOTS would "out" yourselves.
Congrats, your the first, but I'm sure, not the last, though your "buds" don't exactly care to fess up as to who they supported in the primaries?
Wonder why that is?
If its any consolation, as LOONY-TUNE as is he who you support, I'd even vote for Moonbat Paul over Dear Leader.
Another great endorsement for MItt.
I am not with the Paultards.
‘Wait...Watch...and LEARN!’

‘You Betcha!’

To hell with that loon, Paul.
PS> Romney is not officially the nominee yet.
You’ve analyzed my post incorrectly.
During the primaries, I supported in order: Perry, Gingrich, Santorum.
I never did support Paul due to his unusual opinions about relationships between nations.
However, I would choose that over a pro-abortion, pro-homosexualism, anti-gun, big government statist.
Paul, and all of his supporters I’ve discussed this with, strongly assert that he is pro-life. I’m going with their opinions and my readings, all of which support that conclusion.
If Paul can throw that convention into turmoil, then I’m not gonna get in his way.
Paul is not pro-abortion. I’ve verified that with any number of his supporters, including a local supporter who is steeped in all of Paul’s positions.
Romney is anti-gun, pro-choice, pro-big-government, and, imho, because of his multiple deferrments during Vietnam, contra-military, if not anti-military. He also is a social corporatist.
I agree that he is probably not anti-Jewish. I was concerned about Bay Buchanen being one of his close advisor, but discovered she has an entirely different view of Jews as does her brother/cousin(?), Pat Buchanen.
I personally am not a fan of agreements like Nafta, so one must explain “free trade” before I believe they also mean “free market”.
Paul is probably no different than Romney on homosexual rights, although there is probably a bit of a difference. He thinks government shouldn’t be involved in marriage at all, that it is a religious issue.
Didn’t happen More to it than that

“Romney knows that if he released tax returns they would be mined for more ammo against him no matter how straightforward they were. “
Hopefully, they would be mined for ammo by conservatives to be used against Romney, if Romney runs again in 2016.
Romney could easily sidestep the controversy, and turn the tables on Obama, by demanding that Obama release all the personal documents that Obama should have released in 2008 (college transcripts, passport (if any), birth certificate etc etc.) at the same time that Romney releases his tax returns. Seems reasonable to me.
We can all speculate about the information that Romney’s returns contain, but could it be that under charitable contributions Romney has recently donated money to groups such as Planned Parenthood? The Brady Campaign? Pro-homosexual groups? I’d be more interested in what Republicans would do with such information. Unfortunately, I suspect the answer is “nothing”.
“Romney is not anti-gun nor big government.”
This is probably the most moronic comment that I have ever read on FR.
“The surrender monkey is pro-homo and pro-abortion.”
No, he is not. But that is a curious claim coming from you. Do you still refer to conservative Christians as “Bible thumpers”?
I agree, but there are too many one issue Bible thumpers who would rather see a democrat elected than see a strong conservative elected who has been divorced. To those thumpers: Remember the greatest president the United States has ever had was divorced.

That's been demanded for years by many people with the same result, he absolutely won't do it. Because of that, Romney demanding their release in return for release of his (Romney's)tax returns would not get much notice. That's because Obsma got a pass on that a long timr ago. I agree that Romney's Republican foes, and they are many, would cull as many negatives from the returns as the Demonrats.
