I post this as a differentiator. You can find plenty of information about Condi and the LOST treaty during the Bush years, but it can be common for people to do what the administration they're currently involve with wants done, despite it being counter to what they believe. Or they've had a change of opinion over time.
This is not the case in Condi's case, her position is clear outside of the Bush Administration. She does not support American sovereignty. Her opinion is her own.
Time to Join The Law of the Sea Treaty (May 30th 2012)
BY HENRY KISSINGER, GEORGE SHULTZ, JAMES BAKER III, COLIN POWELL AND CONDOLEEZZA RICE
The Convention of the Law of the Sea is again under consideration by the U.S. Senate. If the U.S. finally becomes party to this treaty, it will be a boon for our national security and economic interests. U.S. accession will codify our maritime rights and give us new tools to advance national interests.
It's unclear to me which parts of the article she wrote, because I can't read the whole thing. WSJ has it locked up past the first two paragraphs. But her name is on it. She owns it, by agreeing with it.
Blah blah blah.
Go Rice! :D
She gave $$$ millions of USD to Palestinians. That should tell you she is not on the conservative side of things. Giving money to the enemies of Israel was a WTF moment then and even moreso now. Anyone thinking Condi is a good choice is kidding themselves. She isn’t much better than Barry Soetoro and unlikely you’d notice much difference in her views from his.
Was that sarcasm?
She is unacceptable.
"What is at stake is more than one small country, it is a big ideaa new world order, where diverse nations are drawn together in common cause to achieve the universal aspirations of mankind: peace and security, freedom, and the rule of law. Such is a world worthy of our struggle, and worthy of our children's future."
And Condi can shove her silver spoon up her...
Always found her to be the ultimate RINO (actually CINO ... conservative in name only).
Back to the Democrapic Plantation with you - those socialist cotton bolls are over-ripe and need skilled hands for harvest. Yassah, Massa Obama! Ain’t nobody better at growin’ n’ harvestin’ that socialism!
Your tagline says :America doesn’t need any new laws. America needs freedom!:
This doesn’t mix with LOST.
Look I understand and (frankly may agree with) a lot of anti-Rice propaganda here.
Except Rice was a solid, profound member of GOP administrations way back almost to Reagan.
In Russia back when ... what’s his name the original Russian oppo- guy was in charge. In Russia, speaking:
I agree with a lot of the anti-Rice talk here because, it’s FR and a lot of anti-Rice talk fits in well with things here.
I just happen to disagree with this one.
I do understanding that position is in the minority here, but I cling stubbornly to that position.
I’ll just cling to my oppo role about Rice.
I hold her in (very) high regard.
That makes me a minority, but I’ll hold stubbornly to that role about Rice.
You can blast me right back.
They seem to have a limited world view in which dictators can be reasoned with as reasonable people, and never seem to want what is best for us as a sovereign nation.
If they are so d@##ed smart, why cannot they realize just how horrible life for us woud be under global govt.?
While we need to engage and negotiate, we need to do it as a powerful sovereign nation and realize compromise is NOT throwing in the towel for the demands of some 3d world countries whose leaders hate our guts.
These people see the world as being theirs to lead and while being backed by the full might of a powerful US, cannot seem to see that they are undermining not only our power, but theirs.
Since you don't know what the full piece says, is there a point here other than Condi bashing?
You still haven’t stated what positions Rice holds that you support. Can you do that?
She’s a citizen of the world all the way.
THE ENEMY IS WITH IN. End of story.
Give me 24 hours, and I’ll decide more definitely about this ok?
I don’t have enough input on Condi’s positions right now.
I did read one place where this is good. Apparently our cable-laying ships face some crappy regulations and bureaucracy when going near certain countries. They are especially afraid to go anywhere near China, because that country can require any such ship in its 200 mile zone to sit around doing cable repair at $$$ per day. This stuff isn’t allowed under the treaty, but we haven’t ratified so we can’t complain.
