So now come all these news reports (just for example, here, here, here, and here) that Team Romney has decided deliberately -- deliberately -- to trash Sarah Palin by not inviting her to the Tampa convention.
And they expect people to rally to their candidate when they are out there sticking their finger in the eye of the party's base? Sending a message to the Tea Party to go take a flying leap?
If this is true, and no less than Governor Palin herself has said she is uninvited, one can only wonder:
What are these wizards of smart thinking?
Historically, people who are trashed by their own party employ the one entirely fatal weapon they have at their disposal: they stay home in November.
Having a unified convention is Politics 101.

Somewhere there’s an analysis that’s been completed by Mitt’s BOGSATT (Bunch of Guys Sitting Around The Table) which looks at will I get more votes from far right by welcoming Sarah or lose more from middle by welcoming her. It’s clear what their answer was. I doubt it was the correct one but more closely matches Mitt’s position.

That left the road open for Romney’s Turn in 2012.
So, if anyone thinks that voting for Romney is a good way to put an end to the evils of Obamarama, think again. It was Romney, Rove, and pals who gave us Obama in the first place. And like Obama, Romney is a gay loving, child-killing, self-loving, entitled-from-birth, socialist country-destroyer.

Conventions have outlived their usefulness and should be abandoned. The electors from each state can meet in a central location and certify the nominee. That shouldn’t take three or four days of inane activities and bad singing.
The media would hate this change because it would prove how irrelevant they are, and they couldn’t sneer disapprovingly at the GOP for three nights in prime time.

Romney is alienating his base without having any sure way of replacing it with “independents.”
This is a sure way for him to actually begin to lose the election.
In univiting Palin, Romney is comporting himself like a loser, not a winner. If Romney continues on his path, he is sure to lose, and at the convention, his nomination as the official candidate of the GOP is not “assured.”

Palin did a lot to rally the base in 2010. To not invite her is to say “Conservatives Tea Party” types are not welcome.
What else to expect from Romney, it was his surrogates who went after Palin after the 2008 election.

I think we should hold our fire on this one until we know for sure and not get into a bunch of infighting over nothing - which is probably the aim of the news outlets putting this speculation out there.
I agree that Palin would be a tremendous speaker at the GOP convention. On the other hand, if she does not come out and endorse Romney, I can't hold a grudge against him for not inviting her.
FRiend, there are two electable choices in November. That is the real world. Our saviour is not running for President...only two flawed men.

It’s said that it’s not good to have any one party controlling all 3 branches of government. Well... the GOP-e has ensured that there will ALWAYS be an opposition party, because the people we’re stuck electing at a national level are always more crappy than the people we can elect at a more local or state level, where we the people actually make the choice. It will always be us against the GOP-e. In this case, it will be our choice (the down-ticket folks) versus the GOP-e’s choice in the White House.
First, these “stories” are intended to drive a wedge into the GOP for sole purpose of re-electing Obama. If you cannot see that, you are blind.

As with many things political, things do not always turn out the ways they were intended. Mittens is giving Palin a bigger platform as the spokesperson for the Tea Party and true conservatives than she would have were she to be seemingly “incorporated” into his campaign by being invited. Palin needs to continue to focus on down ticket politics on behalf of the Tea Party around the country.
Well, I could vow to stay home on election day and spend the summer posting messages on FR growling about Romney being a dirty, low down socialist that we all should hate and despise and definitely not give our vote as this would be tantamount to treason. Or, I could face the reality that Barack Hussein Obama actually is a dirty, low down socialist - at best - who is determined to destroy the U.S. economy and by doing so, weaken our power while 'redistributing' the nations wealth to those he deems more 'deserving' than the people producing the wealth our government lives on.
There is no argument that Mitt Romney is not in the political/social mold of Ronald Reagan - by a long shot - but he is in no way a redistributive Marxist like Obama. For all the caterwauling on FR about Romney and attendant condemnation for anyone daring to question the judgement of the Romney-haters, I've decided to vote, not for Romney, but against Obama and his treasonous administration. He must be removed before he can do irreparable damage to our nation - and he is very close to achieving that goal, already. Grumbling and bad-mouthing Romney won't change that but electing Romney, who will look almost conservative after Obama, will. Thus, he'll get my vote. The alternative - another four years of the Marxist Obama - is simply unthinkable.

Palin will be attending the convention as a Fox news commentator. That’s it.
I was an ABR (anybody but Romney) in the primaries. We lost. I don’t like it, but we lost. Romney is the nominee. There’s no use crying over it, and there’s no use trying to regain our dignity or self-worth by insisting one of ours be given some special attention.
There’s a more important problem: dethroning Obama. That’s the goal I’m focused on now. Anything that gets in the way of that goal (like my pride) has to go.
I am now an ABREO (anyone but Romney except Obama).
I do not like Romney. But I will post everything good about him that I can find on my facebook page and I will vote for him, if I have to crawl on my hands and knees to get to the pols.
