While Americans might enjoy throwing politically-charged barbs at their neighbors to the north, Canadians now have at least one reason to be smug.
For the first time in recent history, the average Canadian is richer than the average American, according to a report cited in Toronto's Globe and Mail.
And not just by a little. Currently, the average Canadian household is more than $40,000 richer than the average American household. The net worth of the average Canadian household in 2011 was $363,202, compared to around $320,000 for Americans.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
6 years Stephen Harper + 4 years Obama = Soviet Canuckistan >USA
They do not have Obama and his merry ban d of Robin Hood social justice idiots to deal with either. =.=
Socialism causes everyone to be equally poor.
That’s because they a Conservative government in power, not a bunch of idiot socialists.
Additionally, these results are skewed because of Canada’s real estate bubble - my buddy bought a rundown fixer-upper in a crappy area of Toronto, that was wildly overpriced at $550,000.
Obama has fulfilled one campaign promise. He *has* fundamentally changed America — just not for the better.
Obama — the United States’s answer to Juan Peron.
This is BS
GDP (PPP) per capita
USA = $48,387
Canada = $40,541

Yeah, but they still have to come here for decent Health Care
Well...when you average in all the “immigrants” who’ve come here.....DUH, eh?
PPP is BS
Data manipulation to say what you want the data to say.
Shouldn’t they ask what is the median net worth? “Average” here is not a useful comparison. Imagine one Canadian family worth $4B dollars averaged with 10,000 families with $0 net worth equals $400,000 average household net worth, versus 10,000 USA families net worth each 320,000... which is better off? Anyone with basic knowledge of statistics would not make this mistake, so I presume it is intentional...
The PPP model is not perfect and it can be skewed by fluctuations in prices of services and goods.
But it gives a good long term picture of the standard of living between two countries.
Harper really isn’t that conservative. His government has increased government spending in excess of 6% every year since 2006.
Yes, and it is politically incorrect to talk about it here, but our care IS rationed.

Admit it, you’d still rather have Harper at the wheel than Obama....
“Thanks Obama.” More change that isn’t exactly what he promised.
