Skip to comments.Poll: Voters Blame Obama for the Economy

Voters by and large believe that President Obama's economic policies have contributed to the persistent malaise in the economy, according to a new poll.
The CBS/New York Times survey finds that 64 percent of voters believe that Obama's policies have contributed significantly or somewhat to the persistent weakness in the economy.
Obama's relentless assault on Mitt Romney's business record are also showing no real signs of significantly shaping the race. Sixty percent of voters say that Bain makes no difference, while 23 percent say it makes them less likely to vote for him. Seventy-three percent of voters say that Romney's wealth makes no difference.
Romney gets better marks on handling the economy, with 49 percent of voters saying he would do a better job than Obama. Romney also has an advantage among voters on the budget deficit, taxes, and illegal immigration. Voters trust Obama more on foreign policy and social issues. Obama has only a one point advantage over Romney on handling of terrorism issues, 44 to 43 percent.

It’s about time!
Obama Team must be pulling their hair out. The democrat convention is not going to be anything special, Pelosi herself said that it was no big deal, they have their candidate. The GOP convention WILL be something, and I expect Romney to get a decent bounce out of it, which should give him a significant lead, which, fates be kind, will carry him through November.
“64 percent of voters believe that Obama’s policies have contributed significantly or somewhat to the persistent weakness in the economy. “
This statement tells me that Obama is done. There’s only two ways he can win:
1. Massive cheating and election fraud on a scale not seen before in this country.
2. Declare martial law and suspend the election.
It's all Hussein has. Gotta run with it.
This is good news. Now, if I can pour some water on the embers, if Oblunder does get beat by Willard, we will still have a, probably, worse than GWB in the White House.
Employment is just not that big of an issue on the left.
It's a sad thing to contemplate, but that's where we stand.
Ah malaise, I can see November from here...
Absolutely correct! Hussein can’t run on his pathetic record - what has he got - 0bamascare and everyone hates it, so the only thing left is to attack Romney.
If this is accurate the goose is burnt to ashes.
Barry isn’t that old. He’ll be blaming President Bush for everything bad that happens for the rest of his life. Americans better get used to telling the Kenyan bull****!
It's not just the policies, destructive as they are. It's the way Obama is constantly running down business people as individuals.
The reason this economy is not recovering is that the entrepreneurial function has gone dormant. People still have as many productive ideas as ever, they just aren't acting on them. Why should they, when succeeding will only make them a target? This is why, unlike with most presidents, we should hold Obama personally responsible for the weakness of the economy.
Where are the idiots that keep banging the ‘Romney can’t win’ drum? There should be little doubt by now that Obama is the one who can’t win.
Gas was $1.59 when the Kenyan took the oath of office.
Hopefully, he'll choose a running mate that will make that an easier pill to swallow.
DWS, greasehead said, “WE OWN THE ECONOMY”.
Yep, ya do.
64%..Obama would be better off by imitating El BJ and not accept or seek his parties nomination for another term as president!
It’s Bush’s fault I didn’t get elected.
I want to try again. I’m sure I can get selected again.
Obama’s monster ego would never let him quit.
But it will be fun to watch him after he loses.
If that were to happen, it would then be time for Americans to carry out their own version of the storming of the Bastille.
Yeah—But someone else cooked it.
As well we should. The bumbling, lazy, marxist-in-chief is a complete fool as are all his supporters and fellow travelers.
What a great picture of the [confounded] Axel Dork.
Should be a riot breaking out somewhere soon. It’s the democrat way
Finally, “Bush’s Fault” may be going away. Took long enough.
Best pic I’ve seen of Axelrod.
I’ll take martial law for 500 Alex. They are planning something. I feel a false flag event or a wag the dog event. I don’t know but this bunch of Communist anything is possible.
LMFAO TAKE THAT YOU COMMIE BLAME BUSH BASTARD!!!
“The democrat convention is not going to be anything special.”
Bet it will. The northern white racist unions are pissed as hell at the black DC SEIU racists. The SEIU pigs have shut down millions of jobs in the north. Expect all-out, rock ‘n roll race riots in NC. There’s no brother-union love between these two. Think of Sherman’s burning of Atlanta.
And the interesting thing about this poll is that it is of 1,xxx ADULTS.
They tried their best to poll the public an give “O” lead. These are stunning numbers considering the group polled.
just a matter of time... keep the foot on the neck of the leftist gaggle....
Since Bush was 10x the president The Disaster is your prediction, even though it is false, would mean we are in far better place than with The Disaster.
This PoS poll doesn’t even poll registered voters much less likely voters. It is “adults” i.e. The Disaster is heading into an absolute wipeout which will give us a Republican Congress.
To me this means Romney CANNOT pick Portman.
He would allow Obama to go back to Blame Bush.
Jindal, Rubio or Pawlenty won’t have that problem unless I am forgetting a tie to the Admin.
Jindal is interesting because he dealt with Post Katrina AND Post BP and both admins. A lot of nuts and bolts govt/politics he experienced there.
