Yes, good Christian counselors have been highly effective in helping these people fight the addiction. From what I understand, the process is very similar to the model which AA has used so successfully.

Some may kick the habit without invoking the help of the Lord Jesus Christ, but those who can kick it long term almost invariably need his help.

The key reason that the pink mafia target Christians is because there is no more effective approach.

“I always felt most of the public figures who made up the so-called “Christian Right” were charlatans....”

We always talk about public figures in the
“Christian Right.” All the minor pastors and members
of the congregations are out there doing God’s
work, but our Hollywood culture always wants
there to be a leader and his minions; so no
one talks about the majority of evangelicals
and what they believe... or what they are doing.

Without filling your “house” with the Holy Spirit, even if you kick an addiction out, you’re susceptible to its coming back, and worse...

Luke 11:24-26
24 “When an evil[h] spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ 25 So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. 26 Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.”

The statement is not backtracking. Everything Chic Filet has commented about this is consistent with Biblical teaching.

When you stand on God’s word, standing your ground becomes very simple
