With the ink barely dry on New York's same-sex-marriage law, city summer-school teachers are already discussing same-sex nuptials in their civics classes, The Post has learned.

And the head of the state Board of Regents said lessons on gay marriage will soon make their way into New York's official curriculum...

It is easy to determine when wintertime has lost the argument. He resorts to 6-8 “canned” responses and doesn't deviate from them.

Truth doesn't lose an argument.

Orwellian Newspeak: Truth= lost argument

Unbelievable, except in the bizarro world of the government school defender.

In how many original ways can truth be stated?

Only in the Orwellian upside down world of the government school defender is truth called a “canned response”.

Newspeak: Truth = bullying, ignorance, foolishness, thin skinned, and canned response

By the way, ....Thanks, Verga, for the opportunity to bring this article to the top of the latest post and, therefore, to the attention of Freepers who may be considering socialist-entitlement schooling for their children this August.

I find it interesting that when I tell the truth about your bigotry and hypocrisy you call it “Alynsky tactics” but when you make up “facts” out of whole cloth, which others less polite than me would call out right lies. You say it is Orwellian truth telling.

Curiouser and curiouser.

....bigotry and hypocrisy you call it “Alynsky tactics....
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Oh! Wow! Now we can add “bigotry, Alinsky tactics, and hypocrisy” to the list.

Owellian Newspeak: Truth= bullying, ignorance, foolishness, thin skinned, canned response. bigotry, Alinsky tactics, and hypocrisy

**WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE OF ALL THOSE SO-CALLED “GOOD” TEACHERS PROTESTING THIS??????!!!!!**

Prove that this article is wrong. Where are the studies and articles? The professional teachers on Free Republic should be able to link to these studies in an instant. It's their** profession**. I would think that professional teachers would be on the cutting edge of these issues.

Yeah! I am shouting. Nearly every day there are comments from the government school defenders insisting that most government teachers are “good” and don't support this. Well...Where are these “good” teachers? It's their **PROFESSION** for heaven's sake! Why aren't they out there defending their profession and the children that they claim to love so much? Where are the articles that show these unicorn-like “good” teachers protesting? Where are their websites and organizations?

Instead of well reasoned posts from the government school defenders we get snarky comments about “bullying, ignorance, foolishness, thin skinnedness, canned responses” ( and, now, bigotry,Alinsky tactics, and hypocrisy) directed at the people who are concerned about the corruption of the minds and spirits of out nation's children.

But....Hey! I personally know that as **professionals** the government teachers would never be snide with their students. They would**always** stick to the issue and defend their position with solid statistics and links and **never** dismiss a student with accusations of “bullying, ignorance, foolishness, thin skinnedness, canned responses, ( and, now, bigotry, Alinsky tactics, and hypocrisy”. Nope! A **professional** teacher would **never** do that. ( No sarc tag)

And,,,,Again...Thanks, verga, for bring this topic on the promotion in the government schools of the very dangerous perversion of homosexuality to the top of the latest articles list. It also gives me a chance to respond and to, again, bring this **HORRIFIC** practice to the attention of Freepers who may still have their kids in the government cesspools of depravity ( misnamed “public” schools).

Geeze! A few more articles like this one and taxpayers will soon associate “public” school with “public” restrooms.

Please note that it is wintertime who is resorting to this "Alynsky tactic."

He has never once set foot in my classroom, has never seen me teach nor seen any of the prep work I do on a daily basis. He has never seen any of my interactions with students or their parents. To the best of my knowledge he has never once taught more than one or two of his own children at the high school level at a time, never mind the 20 to thirty that most of us teach. I also understand that he has never taught at the college level. His posts are made in total ignorance, save the single incidence that defines his own pitiful parenting skills. I have offered this person a list of students that he can in under his wing and demonstrate the magic powers of home schooling, and never gotten a single reply.

He has regularly ignored the fact that I and almost every other public school teacher on the FR site agrees that he system does need repair. Rather than making positive comments old winterboy continues with the snide comments about what "**professional**" teachers would and would never do. Rather than engage in legitimate debate he continually resorts to emotional arguments referring to the "Prussian model" in an attempt to make the system seem like some sort of Russian gulag system.

Over the years he has suggested that the public school teachers union be disbanded. When I asked him about the similar unions for police and firefighters I never received a reply.

Further on a previous thread one of winters truly "enlightened" fans advocated violence against a public school person. Several of us begged him to distance himself from these comments, he refused even after the mods deleted those comments.

Now I am certain that this post will draw the ire of the "great and powerful" wintertime and he will make a snide comment about Alynsky tactics for telling the truth about his history and behavior. I am also certain that he will again thank me for "moving this up in the post" oblivious to the fact that it really only appears moved up on the list of people pinged.

I truly hope that some of the more "mainstream" home school supporters whisper in wintertime's ear that he is doing your cause no good and is instead relegating this cause to the "fringe kook" corner.

I don't think good teachers have the time to protest - we are too busy teaching. Not to mention, I've always believed that any given public school represents the more liberal side of the community from which it feeds. Therefore, a school in any red zone will be much more conservative than any school in a blue zone.

The schools reflect the community

They HAVE to do so since that is the human element in the school.

Solution? Well, it's sort of kind of easy and hard at the same time...Conservatives have to make their voices heard at the school board level. If a few citizens speaking out can get something like this passed, why can't a few conservatives get it out? As has been mentioned before though, conservatives tend to be busy, busy. If I were a homeschooler, I would STILL want the public schools to reflect conservative, traditional values and would attend meetings demanding good value for my tax dollars. Help choose textbooks and weed out the ones that don't support a conservative view. Be visible and be heard.

Others see their role differently...posting on FR is a good idea, it's just that if that is all one does, the effect is much less reaching. Then there's people like you and me Verga, we are out doing the job that others don't want to do. And doing it with a clean conscience. And doing it conservatively.

Enjoy the rest of your summer -- the battle begins soon...Stay strong!

I am not “great and powerful”. Truth is, though. If the above article is NOT true then please explain why it is not.

So?....Where are the studies and articles debunking the posted article? Aren't professional teachers up to date on teaching issues? Why don't we see these posts and threads?

And....Where are all the “good” teachers protesting this perversion? Good professional teachers should have immediate access to their website links, organizations, and published articles.

Please re-read my posts. I do strive not to direct my comments to any specific person ( that includes you) but address the problems of government schooling and its teachers in a **GENERAL** manner. I am not perfect, however, and if, on occasion, I have not done so, I apologize.

Finally....( With absolutely NO sarcasm )
I personally know that as **professionals** the government teachers would never be snide with their students. They would**always** stick to the issue and defend their position with solid statistics and links and **never** dismiss a student with accusations of “bullying, ignorance, foolishness, thin skinnedness, canned responses, bigotry, Alinsky tactics, and hypocrisy”. Nope! A **professional** teacher would **never** do that. ( No sarc tag)

Oh, bullshit. Grow up; both of you. I don’t care to hear about your trials and tribulations, the oh-so-tough world of public teaching. You may be an exception, but most of your peers are morons who couldn’t cut it in any other field of study in college. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together and any life experience knows it, too, so spare me.

Educrats are one of the worst problems facing families and taxpayers in American life. You picked the wrong site to defend them and their profesion.

As for “winterboy”, I don’t know ‘im, don’t care what he has to say. My ex and I homeschooled a house full of children over a period of decades; what we “produced” will and do run circles around your public school product. Don’t think you want to challenge me (or most home schoolers) on that one.

One more idiot refers to home schoolers as “fringe kook” I’ll bitch slap ‘em, I swear.

Forgot to add, sport.....I’d break up your teachers’ union, firefighters’ unions, police unions....ANY unions of public employees....in a New York minute. If I have to explain why, you’re on the wrong site.

The most useful and important work that I could be doing is to warn parents about the godless government schools. Children are saved from the government school perversion one child at a time. Only parents can do that and it is to them that I direct my message.

As for teachers: There are a few good teachers. They are the teachers who take every opportunity to persuade parents to NOT to send their precious children into the godless government schools. These teachers likely have very short careers.

Our faithful neighborhood garbage collectors ( a private company) have likely saved more children’s lives than all the government teachers since the dawn of modern compulsory government indoctrination (oops! “schooling”). But....These guys, that are out there in the heat, rain, snow, and sleet, don’t expect to be given any Mother Teresa awards.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

No amount of conservative input will make a socialist-entitlement into something that is NOT a socialist-entitlement. The only solution is privatization which, of course, means completely shutting down the socialist-entitlement schools and disbanding the school board.

And...ALL schools ( government owned and run, too) MUST choose between either a godless or God-centered worldview. Neither of these worldviews is religiously neutral in content or consequences. It is utterly against any conservative principle to force another citizen, through taxes and police threat, to support the indoctrination of children into a religiously non-neutral worldview. Even if the school board could be inundated with conservatives and their presence would not make the impossible possible.

As for clear conscience:

My **personal** values would not permit me to willingly seek a job with or accept a paycheck for a compulsory system of schooling that forces a government mandated NON-neutral religious worldview ( currently godless) onto another parent's child. That is my personal system of values.

FTR, I do not belong to a union. And if I could wave a magic wand, I'd have states switch from "at will" to "right to work" RTW states have very low union membership because employees cannot be forced into a union. If I lived in an 'at will' state, I have to say I'd not work in a public setting. But I don't.

An interesting aside, teacher membership in the Wisconsin teacher unions has dropped quite a bit since Walker took away the ability of unions to force teachers into the union. The unions are obviously 'concerned' about the drop and the subsequent loss of power

Things that make you go hmmm......
